We went into our local cellone in May. The wireless internet was installed in late June. The only reason for the delay was they were doing upgrades in the month of June. I've had the service for a little over two weeks and I'm pleased. The only issue I had was the internet was down from Wednesday evening to Today. I still don't think I'd go back to dial-up. I'm also using VOIP with it and it works flawlessly.

The connection is 500/128 and 39.95 I believe.
The antenna is a 2.4GHz Terabeam Terastar EtherAnt3 that is amplified.
They provide Linksys routers but I'm using my own Netgear wireless router.
They currently switched from Static IP to PPPoE.

    ----December 8, 2006----

So it's been almost 6 months now.. I haven't had an outage since my equipment got struck by lightening in early august. Pings are good and I have not had any problem with packet loss or latency (knock on wood) lol. They are a good WISP and I don't know what I would do without 'em.

    ----November 3, 2007----

It's been over a year now and my service is still going strong. Within the year that I have had their service, I have lost 2 antennas, routers, and power injectors due to lightnign strikes. It did take about 7-8 days to get a new antenna and such, but after it was fixed it worked great. This connection is at my parents home and they are now using it with QuantumVoice. They have talked for 2+ hours at a time on the connection and it runs flawlessly. There is a competitor in the area now, but I'm going to stick with Cell1Net.

"Sales personnel not very knowledgable about their wireless internet offerings (provided answers after telephoning the installer)"

Update March 22, 2006 - I upgrade my service to 1000/364 and have had good luck so far. I can do online gaming, VoIP, etc... The price is a little steep for the upload speed - but my Packet8 VoIP works better now...

Original -- Monthly cost includes equipment rental of $10 per month. You can buy the equipment out-right and pay $29.99 per month for the service without a contract term if you choose, but I chose the contract for my service as I am in a lightning/thunderstorm prone area.

Serviced by Danville, Illinois office. When first speaking with walkup contact

office staff I was very unimpressed with their front desk salesmen spouting nonsense about antenna being a laser. Installer however was very good. I also live in lightning prone area so I opted for $39/month 500/500 plan. Winter 05 turned into a nightmare of slow or no service connection crashes. After much complaining and getting constant blaming of my equipment the tech must have been given orders to sit at my pc and witness access crashing. OOPS! it was their setup goof! Not limiting another customer's bandwidth consumption. When he was limited to what he was actually paying for the rest of the system worked well. Since then it has been very reliable. I live 1/4mile from tower site so my antenna is inside of house window; no weather temperature stresses on it and no penetrations of house getting cable out to it. Main salesman (a standup guy whom I have known for long time) was also very concerned to my problem. Once it was fixed they had some other troubles as they grew and tried better equipment, now it is trouble free. Now I can run farm and standby generator business orders reliably.
