Was going from AEI hellish unreliability ( after 6 years, how dumb I was to stay that long) , and total lack of service, to Sympatico, last november. Bell screwed up the order so bad, I got out of there before it was too late. After reading about Teksavvy, I went with them. They coordinated everything so despite Bell screwup there was no interruption of DSL service at all. Then, they upped my sync rate on my request and monitored it, but my line being so-so, they had to bring it back to 3000/800 for stability. Not before they called me to ask how things were going on my side, as their stats showed many errors at 4000/800. My connection is rock solid and totally stable. A Speedtouch 516 will be on it's way soon to try to squeeze a bit more speed out of Bell old copper lines. Never seen such service since my very first internet hookup, a loooong time ago. Best thing is the help by Rocky and other techs from TSI on this dslreports site. If you call in, you will also get great support. Compared to my old ISP, I am amazed that TSI actively tries to make customers happy by posting here and through their referral program ($1 off /month). I had Sympatico Ultra High speed before and my profile was limited to 2496/640. Then I switched to Teksavvy and guess what? I'm on 5000/800 on activation date. I wonder why I even bother calling Sympatico's tech support and wasted several hours without getting anywhere. The new modem did help quite a bit, but talking to their tech support was a breeze compare to what I had to dealt with before. They gotta drop those script reading tech supports and find someone who knows their stuff before everyone gets annoyed and switch.... Anyways, I just wanted to say: This is what an Internet SERVICE PROVIDER should be like!! member for 18.8 years, 105 visits, last login: 15.6 years ago lodged 17.1 years ago

I did order the 5MB/800k service, along with the DSL modem. Since I've ordered on a Friday, the package was shipped on Monday, and it arrived next day Tuesday. Bell did activated the line two days later. I was very happy with the sales person, who recommended the right modem for me. Since I am in my final 30 days with Rogers after been with them for 9 years, I have all the networking infrastructure in place: Router switches, etc. So basically I just needed the DSL modem, and the Teksavvy rep picked the right DSL model for my needs, without trying to sell me more stuff. I actually like the rent to own option. The DSL modem is a speedtouch 516 v6 (Thomson Brand) and it came pre-configured (nice!) Of course I had to "play" with it so I become familiar with all the options. Tech support guys helped me over the phone in less than 5 minutes to reconfigure from a factory reset. So that was it: simply a plug-n-play! I am on PPPoE, and the speed is simply awesome. I got speeds in excess of 300k/s and I was totally amazed, since with Rogers I never reached 200k/s (even with the extreme service). Teksavvy was recommended from one of my co-workers, and Definitely I am going to recommend them further. member for 17.1 years, 13 visits, last login: 4.7 years ago lodged 17.1 years ago
while it did take several tries to get my connection up and running, that was NOT in anyway TekSavvy's fault. Partly mine, partly Bell's. I have the DRY DSL service, and it took two visits from Bell (booo houh!) to get my service up and running. However, from there on, it was a smooth ride. The modem I got was the Speedtouch ST780. Seems like a decent piece of equipment from what I've read online. if you have your own modem, feel free to use 'em. (2wire, etc. etc.) I hope this isn't too early to tell, but I'm VERY happy with the connection I have. So very pleased, I decided to upgrade my DRL DSL to DRY DSL + VoIP bundle + static IP. And every time I called for support, there's never the need for me to be transfered more than once to the right person (with other ISPs, 4? if I'm lucky?). The Techs really know their stuff. No problems so far. Great customer support. Allow servers & multiple static IP's Highly recommended! member for 22 years, 704 visits, last login: 2.6 years ago lodged 17.1 years ago
I ordered the 29.95/month + $10/Month rent to own modem and $4/month ip + taxes. It is much better than bell as I am able to use port 25. Useful for webapps to send reports via email. The support I mentioned in the "sound bites" section. I ordered rather late in the evening and within an hour at 9:30 in the evening the custiomer support called and asked if I had any questions, all the info for my account and everything. I was shocked the company was working so late and such personal service. Also asking support some questions was no problem at all. They are helpful in the few cases I have asked things. This is my Third ISP. I started with dialup with Netcom then moved to Sympatico then moved to Teksavvy. member for 17.1 years, 29 visits, last login: 15.2 years ago lodged 17.1 years ago
Having had DSL through another company for 4 years I felt it was time to switch - I was getting tired of customer service reps who couldn't leave the script behind and answer questions! Looking around I stumbled across TekSavvy who I had never heard of before. The word on the Net looked good - almost too good, it made me suspicious. But I was born suspicious so it's something I've learned to get over. I called them and ordered the Peer1 (capped) service - if I go over 100GB per month then maybe I need to get out more The rep advised me that it would take 5 business days for Bell to transfer the card from my previous ISP, but since I was already online I would be able to access TekSavvy as soon as they created my account - I'd get a call later to confirm UID/PWD. ONE HOUR later he called back to confirm. Yup, my account was activated roughly 60 minutes from the time I ordered the service. I'm amazed, I'm agog. At $29/month for 5M/800K I'm saving $10/month over my old provider and the provided USENET access acts as a good backup/alternate to my main server. Since I bought the modem when I signed up with my former provider I was able to keep it and I wasn't required to buy/lease/rent a new one - cool, a non expense, I wish life had more surprises like that. It's still a little early so I can't speak towards reliability but I've got a good feeling about this. member for 17.1 years, 844 visits, last login: 7.3 years ago lodged 17.1 years ago |
