Been with TSi on a dry-dsl connection in two different locations in Toronto and they have always been as good as could be expected in a tough environment. Order was processed by Bell in the usual standard timeframe. Like the fact you can use your own hardware. Website kinda sucks, could be better (acct management?). Like the availability of addons such as static IPs, MLPP, etc.

I ordered my dry-DSL line at Teksavvy after I checked all the possibilities to get DSL or cable at my new place.

My main concern was the bandwidth allowed per line and the reviews customers made about their provider.

After looking around I chose Teksavvy because they allow you 200GB of bandwidth, have excellent reviews, can make you avoid Bell Trottling through MLPPP, and have good tech support through DSLreport.

I really appreciate that I can get my questions answered through the direct forum.

They first set me up at 3M, and after looking at my stats I asked for 5M on this forum, I've been upgraded fast and I got messages from them to tell me that the job was done. Now I can download at 540KB/s!

Since I got connected (1 week), the connection has been stable and fast.

I didn't order their modem nor router, I find them a little overpriced, I got the same devices (ST516, WRT54GL) from DirectCanada. The setup was easy for the modem, but you need a little knowledge to change the router firmware. However there is a lot of topics on the forum that will help you to get it configured.

    200 GB

Unfortunately, because of Bell and the CRTC, the 200 GB may soon be limited to 60 GB.

    Re: 200 GB

Yeah I heard... I can't believe this is actually happening, what's wrong with the CRTC? Aren't they supposed to protect the consumer's right, not the companies'?
Compare with France where people get 20Mbs+ with their DSL line, TV, and VOIP unlimited in 50+ countries, all for about 50$!... And no capping nor throttling of course.

    My Other Reviews·3 Web
Update: Oct 9th, 2009. The gap in my DSL spectrum corresponds to local AM radio stations. Anyone know what the procedure is to remedy this situation? If only the tech who visited yesterday had told the truth about Bell's line being shielded, I probably wouldn't be having this problem.

Update: Oct 8th, 2009. Profile was raised to 5000/800 interleave. Bell tech showed today, but left without resolving my line issues. He seemed pretty clueless and really only knew how to connect his equipment and run another test or two. He claimed Bell's telephone wire is shielded, lol. What a waste. I'm being ever-hopeful and I'll get another one sent out asap.

    Main Review:

I just started using the service and will be updating this review from time-to-time, because I'm hoping that this is just the beginning of a good relationship with my new ISP.

I called Teksavvy midway through September, to have service activated at the end of September. My cancellation date with 3web, my previous ISP, was the 30th.

TSI sent an activation e-mail with my new login and I was able to use my Teksavvy login long before the activation date. I finished off the month of September with the 3web login, but then I changed the username and password in my router to use Teksavvy on September 30th and I haven't noticed a disruption or slow-down in the internet service since then. Browsing is noticeably faster, pings are lower and more stable, and so far I'm always able to get the speed that I'm supposed to, given my profile: ~425KB/s.

I still have the modem that I bought from 3web, a Speedtouch 516v6. This modem seems shaky on my marginal line, so I picked up a used Siemens SpeedStream 4200, which seems much more stable. Teksavvy allows you to use your own modem or rent or purchase a new one from them, but I didn't require one myself.

My line profile hasn't changed from the 4032/512 interleave profile that I had with 3web, but I'm really hoping I can have something done about my line, because it still drops the connection once in a while. I have to call in and get Teksavvy to ask Bell to look at it. I had this same trouble with 3web and many, many years ago with AEI Internet, but I have a feeling that something can finally get resolved now that I have knowledgeable technical support staff to talk to who are used to dealing with Bell's *ahem* wisdom. I need Bell to actually look at the equipment and not just downgrade my profile, as they are often inclined to do.

At a total of $31.45 per month including tax for the residential premium DSL, I am very happy with the service so far. I would recommend Teksavvy to anyone, especially if you're fed up with Bell's or Rogers' disgusting nickel-and-diming tactics.

I switched over from bell and the transfer was smooth and happened exactly as they told me. I waited for the day, got my modem setup and here i am. Its nice to have someone in Canada answer the phone when you call and have a question or issue. My bill with bell always got screwed up and I spent hours talking to people in India trying to get them to resolve the problem. I'm glad im done with that.

    Update...October 2009

Solid performance and I added a second line for school. I highly recommend this service

    Update...July 2009

I'm happy with the service that I am receiving and use their home phone service too

    Update...April 2009

No complaints and definitely the best value for my money Keep up the good work!

    Update...Jan 2009

Smooth sailing with the occasional bump in the road but otherwise the best ISP I have used !

    Update...Nov 2008

Things are running smoothly and no problems to report. Satisfied with service.

Well I had to order internet and a phone line for my girlfriends new apartment and I figured it was a great opportunity for me to test the waters with Teksavvy.

    So far so good !

The customer service representative that took the order was very knowledgeable about everything she needed to get, she covered all the bases, even if it meant repeating the same "script" she must do everyday once the order is being confirmed.

The modem arrive several days before the installation data, and was already preconfigured for bridge mode with my router.

The service was installed as promised on the day of! GREAT !

The only ick was kinda on my part. Obviously I didn't read in the forums or the support section that tekksavy uses PPPoE (i'm so use to dealing with dynamic DHCP ISP's) that I had forgotten to setup my router for PPPoE... Furthermore my password that I chose was mis-spelled, but a simple call to tech support (no wait on the line) on saturday night @ around 20:30 EST resulted in my issue being resolved by a very friendly and knowledgeable technician by the name of Steve.

(i know some of you teksavvy employees are "trolling" around in these here forums, if you can track down these takes, please forward my Kudo's to him !!!)

All and all, it's to soon to call it in and say It's a right move, but so far so good !

    My Other Reviews·Bell Sympatico
I've been a bell customer for many years. I ordered the teksavvy service 30 days in advanced and it was activated on time. Coincidentally the modem I had seemed to start having problems around the time I started the service but this wasn't teksavvy's fault. You do have to pay for your own modems, they will support them not but replace them for you (which is explained when you sign up). I'm saving about 20 bucks a month for a slightly slower speed but higher download cap as compared to bell. Which this pays for the modem I bought in less than 2 months. Tech support was useful in figuring out my connection issue which ended up being the modem. There was less than a 30 second hold time everytime I called in. It was refreshing to have tek support agents who critically think about the problem and made the effort to locate the actual problem. Even though the problem was the modem, the tech support agents didn't assume it was a problem on my end and ruled out problems that could occur on their side first. I am quite happy now that I have a new modem. I am totally statisfied that I made the change from bell to teksavvy thus far. My only wish would be that Teksavvy be able to access the same speeds that bell offers. But speed isn't everything.
