I ordered the DSL login initially to see how things would be with TekSavvy. They had me up and running within about 5 minutes after placing my order. After a month of testing things out, I made the full switch over to them. Things have been great ever since!

I am currently on 3mbit (hoping for the 5mbit upgrade soon!). Invoices are sent to me via e-mail in PDF format, which is fantastic!

R0CKY, the owner of the ISP is always present on the forums here and is always looking out for ways to improve TekSavvy's services and their quality.

Great job! I have been and will continue to recommend my friends to switch to this great ISP.

Overall, I have no issues with Teksavvy or the service. Would like more options such as digital phone service for a few extra dollars per month with my current account.

5M service - currently in process of discounting to same rate as 3M service, due to Bell's free upgrade from 3-5. Dry DSL, ordered installed (new loop) and running within 7 days. Technical support is responsive and knowledgeable. Service also understands the technology and is aware of the state of the technology, what's coming and when. Service has NEVER gone down except with network upgrades which are warned about more than a week in advance. Very impressive!

I ordered teksavvy dry dsl, took about 5 business days to install with a technician eventually visiting my apartment (not knowing why he was there for). But once it got working its been the best internet experience of any ISP I have had. Some downtimes occured during emergency maintenance and I was able to contact the staff by email and get immediate replies. It would be nice if they could mass-email upon such events but either way I found out what was wrong and internet was back within a few hours.

Customer service people actually know what they're talking about! And you get real human beings to talk to.... no robotic dimwits, imagine that!!!

Every question I had was answered completely, in plain english so I could understand it. I ordered Residential Dry DSL and it's been working great. Speed ordered is 288K/288K, pretty consistent with the speed test results I've gotten.

I've had experience with 4 ISPs over the last 11 years, and TekSavvy is the only one I've actually recommended to anyone.

Update March 15/07: Ordered speed increase on March 14. I was told to allow 3-5 days, yet it took less than 24 hours Thanks TekSavvy!

Update 2007/02/25: This website reminded me to update my review and, well, nothing has changed - they still get my full 5 ranking across the board.
    =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

I searched around for some time, trying out various $30/month DSL vendors. Most were idiots, incompentants or liars ("we disconnect you once per day for your own security" was one shovel-full I got).

Then in early 2004 (IIRC) I found TekSavvy and boy oh boy, is it ever nice to find a vendor who has competant, happy employees and gives you what you pay for.

As a side note, once-in-a-blue moon when they they do scheduled maintenance or upgrades that will impact their customer's service they actually email we customers in advance to notify us. Kinda makes you feel like you are important!

They don't force you into any kind of contract either (this website doesn't seem to have an option to say 'never any contract required'). If you stay with them it's because you like their service, not because you have your neck in the noose of a contract.

One last thing: when you call the office or tech support they have actual Canada-based (no outsourcing) human beings that answer the phone right away.

    I very highly recommend TekSavvy.

Recently, Bell sent us a letter explaining that our internet was now going to cost $46 a month. It seems that in a stunning display of Oligopoly, both Bell and Rogers are raising their rates at the same time. Now the previous $44/month used to be not too bad for 3000kbps down, 800kbps up, but its been years and the rest of the world for the most part are enjoying much better pricing for their internet.

So we decided it was time to look for alternatives. We had recieved a flyer advertising $30/month for DSL through MNSi internet so my girlfriend phoned up Bell and kindly asked them if they could match the price. The woman on the phone refused to believe that MNSi existed. When my girlfriend gave her their website address she then refused to believe that they were offering "the same" internet service. Fair enough, except that when my girlfriend then asked to have our service terminated on the 1st of August she got very angry, told my girlfriend that if we were switching that she was cutting us off right then, and then hung up on her.

At work, I started looking for alternatives. I started with MNSi, which seemed to have terrible reviews on the internet. Then 3web, which wanted me to install some strange software on my computer which, even after explaining to the sales person that I was connecting through my router, seemed to mandatory for connecting.

Finally I stumbled on Teksavvy. These guys seem to be fairly active on here, have nothing but outstanding reviews, and as I was to find out, are a kick ass company.

I signed up over the phone and it took five minutes. When I got home that night I discovered that the angry lady at Bell had immediately cancelled our DSL login account, and our internet was down. This was bad news, because it meant no internet till the 3rd when Teksavvy got control of the line, which was bad news because I was working on two freelance contracts that weekend. After fiddling with our WRT54G for 15 minutes trying to pick up a neighbours open wireless point to check my email I noticed that our DSL still seemed to be syncing.

At 10:45pm I called Teksavvy out of desperation and someone named John picked up on the second ring. He couldn't find my account in the computer records and actually found my signup form on a desk and entered it in the system with me on the line. He got me my new DSL login and password and told me to try it out. It worked, and not only was I back online, but I was getting speeds faster than I got while with Bell. Thanks, John.

The best part came five minutes later when John phoned back to ask me if everything was working. He also confirmed my email address and told me he was sending my signup info and a PDF of my first months bill. Kick ass.

I've been absolutely reaming their bandwidth all weekend and its never skipped a beat. Its far faster than Bell, and even their DNS servers seem to work a little quicker. I'm sorry about the length of this but its really exciting to find a company that doesn't treat you like a pile of crap all the time.

So thanks Teksavvy, and thanks John, whomever you are.

    Review Update: Still awesome.

I originally ordered Internet service from VDN when I moved to Montreal since they offered faster speed than Videotron, a static IP, since I did not (still don't) have a land line, this was the only choice I knew of at the time. Since VDN was bought out by Bell Canada a while back, the service started to drop off, latency has increased, I stuck it out until I lost my static IP. No staic IP no ISP for me.

A co-worker suggested Teksavvy, he been with them for a couple of years. When I saw they offered dry dsl I called immediately. The people I spoke with were awesome, knowledgeable and spent all the time they needed to with me on the phone to get me what I wanted, told me about all their plans and services offered.

They even followed up three times, since I had ordered the DSL service but never used it for about a six weeks - I was waiting to get my router (Netopia 2247NWG also kicks ass) - I thought this was pretty cool on their part too.

So now I have my DSL, my staic IP, my /28 and in about a week or so I'll have my /24 routed as well!!

I finally have a setup almost as good as what I had with Megapath in SF, the only down
side is no ISPs in Canada (that I am aware of) offer SDSL, I miss by 2048/2048 service *sigh*

Bottom line, Teksavvy rocks, these guys are the bomb! Keep up the great work, they have been so good, that two on my neighbors have ditched Videotron and Bell for Teksavvy too!

    Line Attenuation: 10.50 8.00 dB

5meg/800k, DSL PPPoE, dynamic IP, 100GB cap
    29.95$CAN + GST = 31.75$ modem not included
    monthly service, no contract

Since last fall, I download at 400 kilobytes/sec.
    I upload at about 80 kilobytes/sec.

Great support, no 18year old reading you a script, no quick fix to get you off the phone. You never have to mess with an automated phone system and they answer the phone FAST. You get better value if you purchase your own DSL modem. The service uses Bell Canada's phone lines but the gateway, DNS, techsupport and billing is from Teksavvy.com. They never mess-up your billing like Sympatico If your credit card expires before you update it, they won't give you greef, just good old fashioned one-on-one service. I'll never change!

PS: MTU should always be at 1452 with Teksavvy.com

Disclaimer: as of 01/01/2007 I am a Teksavvy reseller. Love the service so much I can sell it to people with a clear conscience!
