I ordered Verizon's Fios service about 2 months ago, and so far it's been great I have no major issues other then some stuff was my fault. Verizon gives you a Dlink wireless router to use but it's not all that great, So I stuck with my Linksys WRT54G router.
The install took a few hours, most of it was wiring and getting everything hooked up, once all was finnished Verizon had a outtage in the Northeast area so my ONT was not able to be turned on within that time frame they gave me, so they had to come back an hour later and it was all finnished.
Speeds are good no issues with games or anything, and as well as uploading I don't have an issue with getting capped unlike another service....
So far after a few months everything is still going well, I get pretty much the service I ordered as far as speed goes.

I ordered the 15/2 package and it has been great. They arrived early and were ready to go. I had already run Cat. 6 to their termination point... so they gave me a hard time on cutting down their installation time. (They schedule four hours per install... mine took two)
I ordered the wireless router, however, I have since switched to a D-Link DGL-4300 Wireless Giga-bit router... no problems.
Have had the service for well over a year... also have TV... it ROCKS!!!!

This is the best internet service I've ever had. I went from dialup to cable to this, and I'm thrilled. I can download anything in no time. I haven't had a second of downtime. Speed is always consistent. If you can get it, don't wait.

Ordered over the phone since their website never updated to say I could recieve Fios. Was given an install date for about a week later. Techs arrived early in the morning and continued working until about 5 pm. Install went fine, everything is wired very nicely.
Service has been great. I'm getting 30/5 for $55 a month. I get about 20mbps down from the Verizon News Server. My ping to servers is almost always half of my neighbors with OOL.
Speed Test: TCP/Web100 Network Diagnostic Tool v5.3.3a click START to begin Checking for Middleboxes . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Done running 10s outbound test (client to server) . . . . . 4.81Mb/s running 10s inbound test (server to client) . . . . . . 30.93Mb/s The slowest link in the end-to-end path is a 10 Mbps Ethernet subnet

After having FIOS for over a year now, I am still quite happy.
Plans start at 5Mbit down, 2Mbit up for $40 and 15Mbit down, 2Mbit up for $50. From my tests, you do get those speeds. (Monthly phone/LD/Internet plans start out at about $75 Total.) There is also a 30/5 plan for $199, and static IP plans for residential customers. There is a $5 discount for Phone/LD/Internet bundles.
Verizon has just started offering FIOS TV as well in Keller, however this is not widespread outside of Keller.
The service comes with an ONT (Optical Network Terminal) that breaks out the single fiber into Phone, Internet and TV. (Using 3 different wavelengths of light for Video, Upstream data and Downstream data.) Power is supplied by a UPS placed inside the house, usually on wall inside from where the ONT is placed. The UPS should provide power for 4-8 hours. The UPS batteries are supposed to last 7 years, but I have my doubts. Battery condition is monitored by Verizon, and they can inform you when the battery is in need of replacement. Finally, the package includes either a wired or wireless D-Link router. As of this writing, the wireless router is a D-Link DI-624 (Turbo G).
Installation requires a Cat 5 ethernet cable to run from the ONT to the location in your house where the router will be placed. I already had cat 5, however Verizon will run this for you if you don't have it already.
Originally, they only officially supported Windows operating systems. I had no trouble doing the install without using a PC at all (I didn't want them installing the included CD on the wifes XP box.) When the install was nearly complete, the installer plugged his laptop into the router and took me to the sign-up web page where I completed the account creation using his PC. Now they officially support Windows and Macintosh.
Speed tests bear out the available bandwidth. On a 15/2 plan, it is easy to get 14000Kbit down and 1780Kbit up. A T1 is just passe in these days of FIOS.
For those thinking this may be a great server solution, keep in mind Verizon blocks inbound port 80.
There have been a few glitches along the way. One Friday night the ONT died. After calling Verizon (fortunately I had a friend's cell phone!) they rolled a truck Saturday and had it fixed by 8:30AM. Others who have had similar problems with the original ONTs have had varying response times. I've also seen various routing issues that caused some sites to be slow. I don't think Verizon is using the "Best" route for all data, I think they may be routing traffic across cheaper backbones than they originally did, however performace is still good.
After a year in use, I'm still pleased with FIOS. I'm looking forward to their video offerings.

Of course I was one of many folks foaming at the mouth to get this service. I had been told it was not yet available, and I was assuming they never even did the digging yet, to my surprise the digging happened before I moved here. Tested by address, I went to heaven.
I'm on a data only 15/2 package. The only outage was earlier this week for a few hours. Twice I received communication from Verizon, first to see if I was back online, and an email explaining generally what happened. my former ISP never went out the way like that.
Only limitation I have to deal with is places I download from, I can only get as fast as they can send to me! Loading web pages is more like a blink in most cases. I dont like that the block ports, but I can undestand why they do it (must they block ALL of them tho?)
The install was about 4 hours. Very knowledgable guy, had great conversation with him about how the whole FIOS thing is going and how his business is picking up. He ran the box straight into my room and right by my computer, and before he left, he even tweaked my settings to get the max speed possible.
I said I'd never go back to Verizon, the DSL experience I had with them was not good to me at all, but I'm very very pleased with my service

I ordered FIOS so I could play games online. I do notice a huge difference between cox cable and verizon fios and its the latency while gaming online and downloads as well. I average between 3-24ms ping rate on most games and on cox cable it was 40-50. I am using the D-Link Gaming router so that probably helps as well. More reliable than cox cable. Never been disconnected.

My install was one of the first in my community. I was called the day befoer my due date to confirm the appointment. Two installers arrived as scheduled. The install took about three hours including a trip back to the garage to get a shorter drop wire. We worked together to set up the computer and wireless router. They took me through it so i would be more familiar with FIOS. On completion we tested the connection and the speed was very close to the 15/2 as advertised. For a new service, the installers were well trained and professional Other than a minor glitch with the wireless connection, in the nine months I have had FIOS it has been flawless. I download audio books and what used to take 20 minutes with DSL takes less than one minute with FIOS.
An added benefit has been the quality of my voice service. The copper was always a problem, especially during and after a rainy period. The fiber is crystal clear. All in all, I give Verizon FIOS high grade!! Looking forward to the TV service.
