I use the Mifi2000 to connect. The speed is always less than 300Mbs and usually more like 39Kbs. I started the service in December 2010. The device quit working February 2011 and tech support messed up delivery of a replacement 4 times. They would say it was on the way, but then no delivery. Talk to someone else same story...it's on the way! When my month runs out, so am I. ,

this was a great (for me) service when it was owned and run by NTL but as soon as it was taken over by virginmedia everything changed. my reliably high connection speed became sporadic at best and non-existent at worst. the customer service became a high cost telephone call center where the accents are stronger than a vindaloo. the price increased with no warning. i will be switching to a new provider ASAP.

Due to circumstances had to move out of home for a couple of months for repair works,so needed an ISP which dealt with monthly contracts, after looking through various sites,it was narrowed down to Virgin Media's upto 8mbps broadband service,at a cost of £17.99 p/m.
Order was taken over the phone and confirmed, when no modem had arrived,a call was made,a double booking had taken place and their system couldn't handle it so all was scrapped then a fresh order made(should have realised the ineptitude then).Once the modem arrived set up was simple, though speed was slow,a call to tech support and i had to 'give' the line 10 days to settle down.Anyhow,a few days later and off work with sickness did some line tests and was stunned by getting 6.5-7 meg d/l and 450-600kbps u/l,great i thought,xbox360 was connected up onto a router and online gaming was excellent-no lag or game dropping whatsoever, then it started! For over 3 weeks now line speed has gradually dropped away to around a meg,the speedtester.bt.com site that tech support insist you use hardly worked, saying busy(at 2a.m) or unexpected results obtained and cancelling the test,on the occasions it worked it did show decent d/l speeds, but always the same u/l speed of 448kbps! I tried 4 different speed test sites to get a cross section of results, all were pretty similar with d/l speed and ALL gave NO u/l figures,my ping rate had risen to 200+ thats for google.co.uk,now my xbox connection has gone due to the awful ping rates(upto 400ms for a US based server)so basically after near 3 weeks and over £22 of call expense to virgin tech support, nothing has been done,Oh they say they will sort it and TWICE a fault has been raised but then just left and not passed on to their ADSL support people, the service is absolutely awful,of the 4 or 5 phone calls i have been told to expect from tech support for updates on my problem i have received NONE.so basically i am well and truly pissed of with the whole experience and am in the process of swapping over,at least with orange i got a steady 2 meg and great ping rates. Is a shame that smug looking prick Branson doesn't read this stuff!

I have had nothing but problems with this connection. At best their are 4 hours during the day while i'm at work when the service is usable, the rest of the time it is pointless. Ping to www.google.com is in excess of 300ms during the evening and this is supposed to be an 8MB line? Speeds? It will drop down to 90kbps when really bad. Tech support seem to now what they are talking about but when the service is unfixable their isn't a lot of point in calling them.

I have been a customer of U.K. ISP Virgin.net - part of entrepreneur Richard Branson's network of companies - for several years. Previously I submitted a report as 'a satisfied customer', but now I'm not so sure.
I reacted with some horror to the recent news that Virgin.net was to be merged with other companies into 'Virgin Media', to offer a wider range of services customers want (if one believed the corporate blurb) or to form yet another over-large faceless conglomerate - my own suspicion.
Like another reviewer on your site, I fear my suspicions were correct. It is disappointing. The Virgin empire has thrived, as far as I can see, on being a slightly 'alternative', smaller, more flexible, transparent, and often cheaper alternative to the 'Biggies' in each field Branson has entered. Often the younger market has been targeted, with interesting and imaginative branding.
But now Virgin Media seems to be aiming to follow Rupert Murdoch, who appears to want to control everything and feed business to himself, rather than offering a service. Certainly Virgin broadband speeds have plummeted, and the response to queries is even more slow and impersonal. The website is unwieldy, and it all says "We are big and you are small". Virgin Media, and a competitor Sky, have taken to using advertising space to conduct an insult competition with each other. Some of us think that 'Great' Britain has quite enough of a reputation for bossiness as it is, without Branson adding to it ...
Apparently the merger has been a commercial disaster. Virgin Atlantic, another Branson creation, was also a part of the recent aviation fuel charges fiasco where they conspired with British Airways to 'fix' charges - they blew the whistle just in time, and British Airways copped the heavy fines both in the U.S. and at home ...
I'm not sure it can be said that Branson is entirely sticking to his small, friendly and cuddly former image. Service, and in some cases ethics, seem to be suffering ?
