    As of last night Eclipse have started to use packet shaping on their accounts.
    P2P will only come down at 40KB/s on my 8meg line.
    Encryption and using random ports have no effect.
    Private trackers only max out at 40KB/s whereas before they would max out my connection.
    Other apps that use the P2P technology also suffer the same abysmal performance. An example of this is Sky by Broadband, which is now unusable with this IPS.

    If you plan on doing more than surfing and sending Emails, then DO NOT USE THIS ISP.

    Also, there support team would not admit to me that they had introduced this shaping at first. This left me wondering if it was my own setup that was at fault.

    I am now in the process of leaving these clowns. The sooner it happens the better.

    Bye bye Eclipse

    @co.uk

    Sooo unreliable

    If you value being able to e-mail, avoid Eclipse.
    If you want a reliable broadband connection, avoid Eclipse.
    If you don't want to deal with numpties, avoid Eclipse.

    In Feb 2007, Eclipse promised an improved mail service following an upgrade to their mailserver. On the day following the upgrade, the usual POP3 connection problems re-appeared. Not a day goes by where the mail server is unavailable at one point or other.

    Yesterday's broadband outage finalised things for me though. The whole morning (2.5 hours) was spent trying to get through to someone in tech support as they don't update their status pages regularly or indeed accurately.

    Oo - and I've not a good thing to say about the sales department which seems to be filled with numpties. They'd rather lose you as a customer than give you the introductory offers that new customers are getting.

    Let me think now... which is better "no sales income" or "reduced sales income". Perhaps they sell their products at a loss - in which case let's hope they continue to work this way & we'll eventually be rid of them.

    Good riddance Eclipse!
