My building has a deal where Atlantic Broadband gives a discount on the bill plus free HBO if you sign up with them, so when we moved in we chose them outright. Other ISP options included Comcast, Verizon DSL and BellSouth. We've had BellSouth, and they were pretty good. But we have no use for a landline. Comcast is way too shady; they have no trust or integrity. So we chose Atlantic BB.

Their customer service is great! Every time I call, my wait is very short, and the person I speak with is very knowledgeable. Whenever there's an outage and I call to inform them, they always have a recorded message stating that they're aware of the issue and have techs onsite attempting to resolve it. They're always on top of things. As for initial setup, I called a week before I moved in and they were there the day I moved in to get me activated. The movers were still moving boxes as the tech was leaving!

As for price, they're very competitive when compared to the likes of Comcast who are usually overpriced. For internet alone, I pay $48.95 for 12 Mbps/768Kbps down and up. I have a Motorola modem; the first unit they gave me died, so they replaced it with a new one same day, though I did have to go to their offices to swap it out myself. That's standard practice in this business, though, as I had to do the same with Time Warner when I lived in NYC.

The only bad experiences I've had with Atlantic BB was with their DVR boxes dying on me a few times for the cable service. It's clear that they recycle old units, again, as do most other providers. The modem died once in my three years with them.

As for good experiences, the fact that I only have to call them about once a year is a testament to their service and reliability for internet service. Smart, friendly techs, low prices, no contract and high reliability. What else could you ask for?

I called to order their 5mb internet service and was told it would be installed next business day I called on Saturday and it was installed early Monday morning. Everything was installed correctly without shortcuts and they were done and I was online in less than an hour. I'm very pleased with the customer service and how quickly my service was up and running.

If they delivered the service that they promise is going to be the best ISP for South Pointe area in South Beach , With our super old wiring DSL speeds are very very low. About 60% of what they suppose to be. In other hand in the past Atlantic had a very bad reputation.
So far what i see is good. I am paying for 12Mbit i get around 8-9Mbits but when i spoke with tech support they said that anyway the service is not official out yet , so its have to be better after few days and ill get my full speed. I have time , ill let you know guys after 10 days does they keep their promise.

Best regards.

P.S. Ok thats like a few months later. I think the service is great , no cons so far , except one that the upload is slow 786kbs. Anyway the price go down , since atlantic offer me to get a phone line combined with my 12mbit service the price instead 67$ go don to 50$.
Thats a red point for Atlantic. offering more services same quality for lower price.

Good Job ATLANTIC!

P.S. I am extremely disappointing now from Atlantic BB they start to throttling connection when you using any kind of p2p connection , doesn't matter if its torrents or you are watching p2p TV.

I switched from verizon dsl to Atlantic Broadband for faster speeds and so far I'm happy with the constant speed at 3 MB. If any problems come up, I will post them.

9-8-08 ABB increased there speeds and is alot better now then they were before. Also I have there phone service and for the price, you can't beat it.

Update August 23rd 2008
Got upgraded to there 8Mb plan for free yesterday, speeds are as follows

Download: 7511 (Kbps)

UPDATE... December 21, 2007
No issues since the install, constant speeds(570kB down/ 58kB up). Can use Usenet at full speeds by using SSL.. Nothing else to report, everything Just works...

Ordered on Fri June 8th, Installed Tues June 12th, installer actually arrived 45 minutes ahead of schedule, but he called before he arrived to make sure i was home. Once he got here, we went over the order witch was just for the Internet service and not for tv since i have Dish Network Tv and love it. After running a brand new Line to the room the computer is in, he hooked up the modem and every thing seemed fine, he left and all was fine for about a hour until the modem lost sync and when it synced back up my speeds were horrible and pings were outrageously high. So i called tech support and they sent the installer back to my house and he found out that my power levels in the modem were way to high and after a few adjustments, everything is perfect..

I was debating going with Verizon but after talking with these guys I am glad I chose broadband instead. I have the combination internet and phone service for 64.00 which is great bargain for me. I ordered the service and 5 days later they came and installed the serviice. I got the Motorola SBV 5222 and it has not failed me. I think Atlantic Broadband is great company with excellent customer service and products.

Here at South Beach we have pretty much 2 choices DSL from any company , or the cable from atlantic broadband. I had before 8mbit DSL service from pretty decent ISP but the wiring here its so old , so terrible si the MAX i got was around 5mbit in the best case. So when i heard that Atlantic offering 12mbit i was surprised but still kind a worried. I tried before their 3mbit and it was HORRIBLE. So when i call to order it i had mixed feelings. But after few days with their service i loved it. Its fas as they said reliable and no problems at all so far. I got deal 12mbit+landline phone for 49.99$ so its even better. A few friends of mine got the same service as me and all of them feel good about it.

So far so good.

I had ABB as the ISP since 2003. It is the worst ISP you can probably find nationwide. The only reason kept me with them is because of the monopoly that cable companies have over the locations. Unfortunately the new place I moved into recently also serviced by ABB. I wished the location I live was taken over by COMCAST or at least I had option to switch to Comcast, as I would not hesitate to do so.

There is bunch of thieves that own this company and bunch other thieves sitting in the city comission that paid by the first thieves to establish monopoly.

The speed is horrible and was horrible for the last 4 years I had this service. Recently they were happy to annouce 8MB speed "upgrade", first ensuring that they upgraded the service fee by $1. The good speed lasted only 7-10 days averaging to 5MB of download, instead of 8MB, the only upload was close to the promised of 500KB.

Right now, today, 02/05/2008 the speakeasy.net/speedtest shows between 150-200kb of download. Isn't ridicilous? I hope one day the rear end of the folks who own the company and city comissioners who ignore the poor service that this company delivers will get fried.

If you have any other options do not choose ABB!!!!
