The choice for me was clear, Bell overcharges. Electronicbox has a good reputation, provides good speeds and a 250GB monthly bandwidth (compared to Bell's measly 60GB cap) for the same price as bell. It is the same network, the choice made itself. So far I am very happy with speed and reliability.

$32 per month- (12 month contract)
about 14 days "Great price, Good network, Reasonable cap, Customer service is fantastic" "Relies on videotron for installation scheduling." "They're worth a try, I haven't had any problems with them yet."

I was considering all options, I am a former Videotron cable internet customer and I liked their network, Ebox offers the same service for a much lower price and I wanted my money to go to a smaller local company.
I ordered the 8mb cable service for $32/mo. I went on videotron's website and they're offering an identical service for $54/mo.
The order process was very easy and quick. After placing my order over the phone, they shipped me my new cable modem which arrived the next day. The longest part of the wait was on Videotron's end as they must receive a request for installation and send a technician. The Ebox rep. told me this could take a couple weeks as it was around moving day and there were many people calling for installations at this time.
After about a couple weeks I got a call while I was at work from a Videotron tech telling me he was at my building. Their techs never called prior to confirm our appointment but luckily my girlfriend was just around the block so I called her and she let him in the building. He installed the standard modem (Motorola SurfBoard) I had ordered and the connection was working the following day.
I got a call from Ebox a couple days later to confirm everything was working well for me, a nice touch.

When I knew that I was moving back to Montreal, I started looking on the Internet for a broadband company. I had heard a lot of bad things about the three "biggest" companies here and wanted to make sure I wouldn't be one of those unsatisfied customers. Once back in Montreal, I called and we set it all up. It was quick, efficient and it looked like I had made a great decision. The deal offered what I was looking for (a dry-loop connection, virtually unlimited data usage).
Getting their modem was a painful experience. They had warned me to have someone present in order for a Bell representative to come and check the installations, but they didn't tell me the same applied for the Purolator delivery. They only came over once, and then I had to go to their delivery office. It would have been much simpler to just go to the office of Electronic Box. And that should be explained to new clients.
The only thing for me was the speed. I have been used to have 10MBPS and unlimited data usage in Asia for the past few years for a fraction of the price here. I would have also appreciated a more thorough explanation of the rules (moving back into the country after several years, I would have appreciated that, and I think it should be something offered to every new customer, since the information on the website is a little vague).
I started talking about Electronic Box to many friends, and was giving a lot of positive information about it. But after a few problems with my connection, I kept my opinion to myself and told my many friends to wait a bit for my final "approval" before making the move.
For the past week, I have been more and more satisfied with the service, and if things continue to go the way they are going right now, not only will my appreciation be greater, but they'll get a bunch of new customers as well.

fyi, our new procedure is to call the client when the modem is shipped and we let know the client when it will be delivered. this is a new procedure we started recently so it might not have been applied in your case at time of sign up. -- Electronic Box Inc. - Jean-Philippe Béïque

Based on the level of service I have obtained through this ISP, I immediately started referring this outfit to friends and family.
I wanted something decent for a resonable price and this ISP covered my needs.

$24 per month Bell Canada "advertised competitive dsl price of $30.95/mt with 5 Mbits, 250 Gig limit" "my actual connection is below 5 Mbit, varies from 4-4.5 Mbits, and my actual speed based from Speedtest.net is 3.41 Mbps." "The advertised package deal is not consistent from the actual service that I am receiving. I'm not happy with their service."

I recently ordered a residential DSL package of 5 Mbps with 250 Gig download monthly limit. The installation process took longer than the regular timing of 4 business day due to an error of the sales rep in inputting my phone number in their sales account that conflicts with someone's business phone number. She mistaken my home phone number to be an office phone number and insisted that I should order a business dsl package instead and/or should buy a dry loop. Our email debate wasted two days before she realized her mistake. But I forgive her, hoping she will not do same mistake again to others. I have my own dsl modem/router which is a 150Mbps Wireless N ADSL 2/2+ Modem Router and less than a year old with a standard warranty of 3 years (TrendNet TEW-657BRM). Their first week of service is quite good and my connection speed as shown in my modem's configuration status has DownStream connection speed of 5064 Kbps and UpStream connection of 800 Kbps which is right as stated in my service package. But lately this past few days, I am experiencing slow downloads. I started to check my modem's connection status everyday and noticed varied connection speed. I am not receiving 5 Mbps speed anymore, always below 5 meg and right now my DownSteam speed is 4032 Kbps and my UpStream is 800 Kbps. I wonder if the discrepancy in my DownSteam connection speed is caused by my modem or my ISP? Please correct me if I am wrong in my accusation that my ISP is not providing a good service, in contrast to as what they are claiming in their Website. I will give my ISP a chance to rectify this fluctuating connection speed and keep on monitoring daily, but if after two months and do not see any improvement, I will cancel my subscription and look for another dsl provider.

diskaceElectronic Box CEOPremium,VIP join:2002-02-21 | Electronic Box response Good day,
currently we push a profile of 5056/800 on your line and modem is not able to lock all the frequencies. Current speed is 5024/800 @ 100% capacity and 6.0 dB of SNR ratio. Physically your modem does not receive enough noise to lock 5056 causing instability and lower speed. Can you try a different modem, sometimes that help gaining a few precious dB of SNR that would give you enough room to lock 5056/800 solid. I don't know trendnet very much but you would be looking for a speedtouch or a 2wire for optimal SNR on a marginal line like yours. It is also possible to lower line profile to 4032/80 in order to gain stability. This will cost a loss of 1 Mbits in speed but currently your line is unable to reach a full 5 Mbits without issues.
FYI, changing provider will not do anything because source of signal is Bell DSLAM. Most DSL ISPs go through Bell DSLAM for signal source. If physically line is unable to reach full speed through current facilities, you will simply repeat the scenario with another company. I would look into the modem, see if with another modem it is more stable, check wiring to gain a few dB by pulling a new cable from demarc box outside or lower profile to 4032/800.
You can post your case in the Canadian Broadband forum and we will assist you there, or send us an email. -- Electronic Box Inc. - Jean-Philippe Béïque

When signing up I had some unusual technical requirements (I run my own servers, may need static IP, had questions about number of IPs, etc. and the lady I talked to couldn't answer them but very quickly passed the phone on to a more technical guy who answered all my questions.
The service was set up on a dry loop before I even moved in, and has worked without trouble all the time since I did move in.
The speed is surprising for DSL. In my past experience I'd get a max of 500KB/s and with this one I often get over 700KB/s. The service is rated as 5MB/s
I was a bit concerned when signing up because it's pretty cheap and the company is unknown but I have only good things to say about it.

I'm a new user of electronic box, using their Speedline haute vitesse + voip 250G transfer monthly for 65$. It's a fair price compare to other isp. Pre sale service was very good, I've bought a modem from them (Thomson TG784) that as been sent fast by purolator.
They preconfigure the modem so it worked out of the box, but I'm deceived that they haven't sent me information about what the configured (connection name and passwords...) so if I wanna reste the modem I need them. (I'm gonna ask them about these information later)
From now on the speed are ok but could be better: »www.speedtest.net/result/1379591511.png

Very good client services, it is pleasant to speak with the EB crew.
You should have your own modem be cause they sell it and it is a little bit expensive.
