This is the worst ISP company that I have ever dealt with. Not only are they overpriced on their services, they constantly throttle your internet when streaming/torrenting. I pay around $130 a month for 7MBPS DL and up to 1MBPS UL with 200GB and during the hours of 10am-12am, I am actually getting 150 latency up to 300 latency issues. Add in the horrible download speeds of .17 and it's embarrassing that this company is even an ISP. I can go on and on, but for those moving into town and connecting with CMA, prepare for horrible latency issues and download speeds. You can't even watch Netflix or watch streams at 360p that is how bad the issues are over here. No one is getting anything done to fix the issues in Pahrump. Sad thing even I switched to a lower package, the latency issues and horrible speeds will still be there. I was told in March 2012, that these issues would be fixed. Were already entering 2013 and NOTHING is fixed. NOTHING. I'm waiting for the day a bigger ISP company comes into town and puts CMA out of service. Because believe me, I do not see this company lasting in the future with better internet companies coming into towns *cough* GOOGLE FIBER.
UPDATE: AS OF APRIL 8, 2013, NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE TO PAHRUMP, NEVADA. CMA STILL REFUSES TO HELP THE CITY BY ADDING MORE BANDWIDTH! I believe at this point I need to get a hold of the Pahrump Valley Times to out CMA. The town of Pahrump needs to know they are getting screwed! Here is ANOTHER screen shot of my speedtest since the last time I pasted one.

 | | This ISP is really bad!! I thought I was going mad I'm still not able to get connection to 2 cameras because of internet connectivity ,I was just told that by the cameras tech support. There should be somewhere one can report such bad company. I for once will get in touch with better business bureau. | |
| | | Same thing here... DL speeds here in Pahrump are okay during the day, but like others have experienced, DL speeds after dinner time are so slow you can forget about streaming videos, YouTube, Skype, etc... What a joke...Has to be the worst cable experience ever for me too. Even satellite internet I've had in the past put CMA Cable to shame. I doubt things will improve here, as I doubt there are enough people to complain and besides that...they're the only game in town... | |

1 edit | Regarding speeds Here are some of my speedtest. The 3rd row are my download speeds and the 4th row are my uploads. This shows how bad CMA is on my side. I was able to contact one of the directors of CMA on December 11 and this month my bill was less than usual. Aside from that, I have yet to be contacted further. | |

| comcast please come take Cleveland texas over
I had comcast, centurylink, windstream & this cma Which is the absolute worst isp I had ever got screwed by. Undoubtedly Comcast is the best! Had 30/5 with them got more than my money worth. I think cma relizes they don't stand a chance to be competiters....can't wait. All most concidering moving to a Comcast area! Just tapout cma your services are trash. I'm cutting ties tomorrow.

| | | | Re: comcast please come take Cleveland texas over I know the feeling. I lived in Chicago with over 5 million people and I was there for 5 years before moving back down here. I only had one outtage with my ISP(Comcast) and that's when there was a really bad storm. Went out on a Friday and came back on a Sunday. I was just about to call to tell them they need to discount my bill...they had already called me and left a message they were discounting my bill. I paid less for cable internet and basic cable in Chicago than I do here dealing with CMA. They need some competition | |

$95 per month about 999 days "getting better" "still alot" "last year they've upgraded alot here"

I'm from NW Louisiana and when I moved, i came from a 15/2 cable connection. now, being offered 2/512 for 39.95 was half comical untill i was offered an upgraded speed of 5/756 for just over 77 a month!!!!
the cable installer came and ran cables all over the place, including across the hallway, down through the house laying on the floor, and to the tv and modem (which came off a spliter, not a dctap). was told to not touch the cable once it was on as it might break.
after a re wire job, purchased a new modem and returned the crapola rental for 4 dollars a month, and hooked up 1 of 2 different routers.
no matter what mixture of hardware, or just straight connected, i've got severe latency since day one. calling in to tech support is useless as they tell me that this is standard and acceptable. 400ms and higher ping is not exactly ideal for cable. going to the local office doesn't get anywhere either. several times i requested a tech come and check my line and figure out why i'm getting bad service and not once has one showed up, yet the lady at the desk keeps telling me she scheduled them.
bottom line, this is a company that has FAR oversold bandwidth (but the office has told me it's only due to two users taking up all the bandwidth) and can not provide any form of reliable service, a company that has ignored and no regard for it's customers, and a company that charges FAR to much vs even the local dsl which offers 10megs at 55.95/month. sadly though, dsl in this town requires a lentghy contract that i am not willing to sign into with a hefty early term fee.
UPDATE: 10-7
ok, nothing has changed. I get outages during ANY storm, and the first thurnder you hear, my internet goes out, but the cable company denies that this is happening?
have called a few times for a service tech, and only once was one sent. my cable had been out for several days and the cuase was that CMA wouldn't provide the tech any new parts, so he had to go to ends of streets to pick amps that work off the line to replace ones in town.
after talking to the tech about the CRAP cable service here, he denied any problems during the storms. well, i called him because the cable was OUT. also found out that the whole town, about 600 internet users, are sharing 6t1s of bandwidth. so that's what, 9 megs of total town shared bandwidth..... and CMA offers a 5 meg package for 78+ a month. how does this even work in your mind?!
so i think i'll be moving on to the phone company dsl since the T1 lines are being rented from them anyways, why not skip the ridiculous CS, the high prices, and the crap speed and ping times.
Updated 12-20
Locally, CMA seems to have ordered more bandwidth at the CO. connection speed has been upgraded for everyone from 2 megs to 4 megs/512up. latency and jitter have gone WAY down and i now ping anywhere in the states between 30-60ms w/ jitter below 12 ms. tcp puases have also vanished.
Guess i will stick it out a bit longer since dsl is more expensive now with the CT merger complete. see what cma has up their sleeve, or if this is smoke and mirrors.
FYI, the 5 meg package is now completely ridiculous as it'll increase my speed by 1 meg, and charge $81.xx plus all taxes and fees vs the 41.xx i'm paying for 4 megs
Updated 5-2010
Locally atleast, CMA has been doing some upgrading, and so has CenturyLink (CMA uses the CL backhual for this town).
last weekend CL was upgrading at night and this weekend CMA was upgrading at night and now the basic speed is 6/512 for 41.95
starting to get in line with more reasonable service for the price. latency and reliability have also gone up alot. I no longer get droped from the internet during a thunderstorm!
the local office and tech support STILL blows though. they don't have the ability to find their own ### with 4 hands.
Updated 7-10
As of July 1 i'm no longer a slave of this company. i have moved into the city and now have real companies to choose from. good luck to all you other CMA folks!

Hi,
I have been a customer of CMA now for almost two years and let me tell they are the worst ISP I have ever come across.
I live in Blanchard, LA and have their "High Speed" service but the only thing high is the latency and not the bandwidth. They are throttling torrent traffic and any other p2p traffic whatsoever. I went with Blue Bird wireless in my area but due to a storm one day it knocked trees down and caused my signal to drop, then I had no choice but to get back CMA. Once my service was activated back on it was awesome for two months(still had throttled traffic with torrents) with no latency that I could find. One day I got a message from tech@cmaaccess.com stating that they will be doing maintenance in my area that night. Well. after that it was all downhill. I have had 500ms latency and higher since. I can understand if this was satellite service .. but you are hard wired in. I have been dealing with this for over six months now with no resolution. Each time I call in I get the same answer " it's a issue in your area" or "you have a bad router or modem". Working in the I.T. field for nearly three years now I laugh at some of the things these "tech reps" say. I have told them in several emails that I may be seeking legal action against them very soon if this is not resolved. I also found out the headquarters are in Dallas, TX called Ethan Industries. There are no other broadband providers in the area. Yet at&t is in other small towns around the area. (I think they had circuits removed in order to save cost during the time maintenace that was done)
I recommend that no one uses CMA at all if possible.. if you are not a gamer get satellite. I'm a hardcore gamer and use vpn only for it not to work.. therefore I cannot work from home or use my Xbox live service that I pay for. This is really bad for me because I manage a I.T. department for a large scale call center in the area an cannot work from home because of this.
When I moved out of town to my new home I realized there was a provider in the area but who would have known that CMA would be this horrible? It's really sad to say but some people are dependent on their ISP. Now me and my wife are considering selling our home an moving because of this. I know Cma isn't a large scale company compared to anyone else locally but they really need to discontinue their service and let another provider do the job right.

unlimited high speed yeah right
Sold me 4k+ DL and 468 UL minimum, but they impose a 6 gig per 30 day period limit, plus all the speed tests I have run are showing 2k or DL and 256 or UL speeds. Feels like 56 k on a good day, soon as I can get back to DSL I am going to! If thats high speed I am a rock star, tinkerbell and the tooth fairy all in one.
