I finally had it with the cable modem service from Chambers Cable in Sunriver, OR : sloow (~300K), expensive (~$35), and by far the worst, terrible reliability. This time of year, it's out for most of the day (as long as the sun is hitting the equipment pedestals across the street). I guess this insn't too surprising, as the TV picture is very snowy as well. They've tried adjusting the amplifiers a few times, but it keeps re-occuring.
Qwest brought DSL to Sunriver, OR last fall. Just switched to themn and now have a 1.5M connection that's rocket-solid, and cheaper. It's real nice to be able to fire Chambers.
