Install was smooth, took the installer maybe 30 minutes to run me a line and get me online. Im paying 62.00 a month for a year for 15m and home phone. Speeds are always 2 to 3 meg over 15 meg download, and always 500 to 600 kb over he 1000 upload. I haven't had to deal with Tech support yet, and hope not to have to. The connection so far is outstanding, I would recommend Suddenlink Communications to anyone.

Well; my family & I have been having speed problems for the past 6-7 months. I was on the forums day before yesterday & Pete Abel told me to let him know what was going on. I e-mailed him & explained the problem to him. Yesterday a tech from Suddenlink came out & as of right now our speeds are just as they should be. 9.83/76. In fact; it was a little higher last night & this morning. Usually this has lasted a couple of days & goes back to the same. But the tech did put a new switch adapter outside & running into the house. He also told me to keep logbook with my speeds & the times. He said that's also a way in helping them to help the customer. I would like to thank Mr. Abel for getting someone out here so fast. Thank you again sir. So if anyone needs help; I would really recommend them getting in touch with this man.

While the credit goes to your team, after dealing with both you and the local office/call center, you are the only one that can light a fire under their ass. *thumbs up*

Since taking over the Cox system in Clovis, NM, the connection speed has dropped significantly. Was upwards of 3megs down - 500K up. Now 1meg down - 160K up.

Tech support is completely clueless.

Price is high for what I get now. $94 includes cable tv.
-----------------------------
This is an update of my Suddenlink Service in Clovis, NM, 3/31/2012.

Much has changed since my first review when Cox sold to Suddenlink. Performance of the Internet connection speed is now over 10 meg.
Cable TV performance is clear and stable.
Cost is now $104 with Internet and TV.
Now on digital TV signal with more programming options.
Recent service call was scheduled between 10 and 11AM. Service tech arrived at 10 AM sharp, corrected the problem and was gone by 10:45.

Much has changed for the better with Suddenlink service here in Clovis, NM.

Good job guys. Thanks.

Waste of money

All I can say about Suddenlink is I am glad I don't have to pay full price for their service. HD services are horrible, Data service is good WHEN IT WORKS, the company doesn't care about their employee's (I know, cause I have a family member working for them), and they don't care about the customer...they only care about the customer making their payments.

They charge their employee's a $20 "processing fee" a month for child support. If an employee pays child support, then Suddenlink will also take $20 out of their paycheck.

What a horrible way to treat an employee. I hope the company goes under and Jerry Kent gets hit by a truck.

Re: Suddenlink Thanks

My family & I have reached out. And have been reaching out over the past 6 or 7 months. We were supposed to receive some credits on our bill because our internet speeds have been in the 3-4 range instead of the 10 we have been paying. If you are really an approved suddenlink tech agent can you tell me why we have not received any credits to this day & why our speeds are still between 3-4??? The bill is under Virgil Carney in Bastrop, La. That's how serious I am.

RE: Speeds

Well my family & I are very glad you get the speeds you are supposed to be getting. here in Bastrop, La. we are lucky to get 3-4 when we are paying for 10/77. We have been supposed to have gotten credits back from several months of this. But haven't seen anything. We are to the point we are tired of calling & them sending a tech out when they want but telling us a different time. they do send one guy that is the best. And we get our speed back up & within 2 days it's back down. And now with the caps. Because we are supposed to see some kind of enhancement. Well; nothing here. We are AT&T bound if this isn't straightened up within the next couple of months.

I have been with Suddenlink for at least 5 years and I was a very happy customer up until about 2 months ago when my connection started slowing considerably. Things have gone from bad to worse lately and it is to the point where I can't even stream a simple low-resolution youtube video anymore...it keeps buffering every 2 seconds. And forget about online gaming...when I try to play on xbox live the lag is so extreme that games are completely unplayable. Before, I used to play online games all the time with no problems.

As far as customer service, they are polite and all. I've called several times to complain but beyond replacing my modem, they say there is nothing they can do. But I don't accept that because something has obviously changed in these past 2 months and my connection continues to worsen. I hate to do it because I think Suddenlink is a good company, but I am more than fed up at this point and am planning to find a new ISP after the holidays barring some miracle. Browsing the internet has become very unpleasant and a frustrating experience. I can't even do simple things like browse youtube or stream a song online. RECOMMENDATION: Do not choose Suddenlink as your ISP if you live in my area. There is obviously serious problems with their network that they haven't bothered to fix for over 2 months now.

UPDATED 1/21/2012: A very knowledgeable Suddenlink technician recently contacted me and promised to look into my issues. Within 2 weeks of him working on it and staying in contact with me throughout, my connection issues were completely resolved and now I am back up to very high speeds and excellent latency. I can now stream videos and play xbox live online with no problems whatsoever and am very happy with my service. Now I am just waiting to make sure things continue this way but so far so good!

this really sucks for DSL.. try manually pluggin in open DNS 208.67.222.222
208.67.220.220
if u dont know how google manual plug in DNS. being a former DSL tech it might make a difference Suddenlink DNS might be the issue.

Do you really have your router addressed with 192.168.1.0??? That can be a probem in itself presuming it's a /24. Also, bypass your home network and see if you have the same problem with speeds and traces.

At Suddenlink HQ

I'm with Suddenlink, in the corporate office. I'm vetted to help customers in this forum (»(post #24974222 no longer exists)) and I have been able to assist many. I'd like to escalate this matter to the attention of the senior vice president of operations for your area; to do that, I'll need the name and address on the account. Would you mind emailing that info to me (pete.abel@suddenlink.com) or sending me an IM?

I initially had horrible ping and jitter, which made gaming impossible during the hours of 7PM and Midnight. After working with the Suddenlink tech support staff both locally and in Tyler, TX., I can now report that I have the exact Internet experience I feel I am paying for. I'm extremely happy that so many of Suddenlink's staff took the time and really cared about the issues I was having and resolved those issues. It took a couple of weeks, but with the complexities involved with reducing obstacles to improve ping time and reprovisioning a node, it's understandable. I'm just glad it's working correctly and am extremely pleased.

Props to Michael at the Tyler, TX. tech support call center at extension 2086. If you work for Suddenlink and read this, he deserves a case of some good microbrew beer, pronto! He went above and beyond, was very patient and understanding and really drove it home to get my issue fixed. Everyone at Suddenlink was great during the time I was experiencing my issue with excessive latency, but he went above and beyond.

Latency!

Click for full size
I have been living with the same situation for a couple of months now. I experience latency all day long. Prior to this issue, my pings were in the high 20's to the high 30's, same server I have played on for years. I have submitted several tracert's and still have not been told what the problem is, or if it will be corrected. Sadly there are no options for other providers where I live, DSL is available, however, I am at the very end of the line and DSL is not really an option. The tracert clearly shows a problem with a Suddenlink hop.

So you used to be 20-30's and the trace YOU posted above shows about 50 ms which is still great. When are you going to post a bad trace and stop spamming these good ones?

Re: Latency!

I can read them just fine. If that hop in the middle was causing your problem then everything after it would be just as high but looking at it, it is not affecting anything after it. Focus on your last hop....that is your true rtt, which shows 50 ms...

Since NPG Cable got sucked up into suddenlink the speeds are much improved! I'm impressed that we have these speeds in such a remote area. Tech support is not too hot - rep claimed I was getting wifi from nearby - in spite of using a hardwired desktop!

Tech guys came out and didn't touch any of my five computers.... Said it was a problem @ office. Abit frustrating but I replaced router on my own and things are fine. However when talking to tech they claimed my cable modem was offline to them in spite of the fact I was surfing to different sites as she told me this. Tech support lacks knowledge!

If you know what you're doing you can get 10MB down and 1MB up. Overall I'm happy.

just go buy one off the shelf if you intend to hold your internet provider longer than 1 year. modem should pay for itself in saved rental fees in 9-10 months
