$5 per month "A good choice for low-volume use. Always a high quality, reliable connection" "Failed to return my credit balance at termination" "I believe that they provide a good, solid service"

I initially joined AxVoice for a beta test. I found the service surprisingly high quality, always delivering a good connection. There were the expected development and test issues associated with a beta status. When the beta period was over, I transitioned to a paying BYOD customer and found only reliable VoIP service. I believe a 'normal' residential user will find quality, reasonably priced, full-service provider in AxVoice.
Eventually I dropped them, but only because I have several other providers with my asterisk systems. The other providers are generally cheaper by the minute and I tend to buy DIDs separately from the providers from which I purchase outbound services. Simply on a cost/call basis AxVoice, the AxVoice route was rarely selected and I could not justify retaining them in my hobby environment.
AxVoice requires a minimum $5 credit balance be maintained, at least for Pay-As-You-Go plans, and which is only a reasonable business protection for any company that would wish to remain in business. I believe the only negative I could site is that they failed to return my credit balance to me on termination of service. Since I did not pursue the matter, I must accept part of the blame on that issue.

Axvoice is poorly run. I signed up in January and before thirty days I knew I needed to find another voip service. There 30 guarantee is stated several places on their website. However when you want to cancel before the 30 period they refer you to their terms and conditions. These terms also express a 30 day guarantee, but they have a statement in there which says, " This warranty does not apply to byod customers." If you think that the warranty is reffering to a warranty on their ata adapter they say no. No 30 day trail for byod customers. It seems they are living in a dream world if they think voip users will just buy their service without a tryout period, whether axvoice's ata box or byod.
You cannot log-in from the axvoice website. You are supposed to know to log-in through a secure site. The entire time I used their service I never was given my virtual number. It stayed in a state of pending approval. In the short period of time I used the service my call just dropped in the middle of my call. The voice quality is pretty good. The dependability is not there. Although E911 is mandatory, they informed me that E911 was not available in my area, The Nations Capital.
I do not believe that this company will survive long. There is almost no customer service. This is a voip company without a telephone. When and if you get a response by e-mail takes forever or never.
Some experience learned the hardway that might save you from the same problems and headaches. Avoid this service and save yourself the write off.
Your money can get you a quality phone service that will provide support and communication services. At axvoice you won't find this.

Contract price not specified. "Was free to test beta. Great voice quality" "Went down twice in ~8 months. Voice mail did not work for us. Wrong CID name???" "Voice quality was always great on the Beta server"

Our trial was free service on a BYOD beta test server. The call quality was great, but we weren't on a server that others were paying for. Your results may vary. Over all, everything for us work well except voice mail, but we don't ever use it anyway so we never followed through. Just couldn't get the voice mail notification to turn off. We never tested international calls and never had any dealings with billing because our accounts were free Beta test accounts with DIDs. We tested with PAP2's and AC-211's. Outgoing Caller ID Name belonged to the last owners of the #'s that we had. We will probably sign up after our $1.06/month unlimited accounts expire this summer. COMMENTS: "Axvoice Beta Test phones became the phone lines of choice around here, even though we have several other unlimited accounts with other providers." "I hate to see this offer end." "Can I get this service at home?" "That's the line that's never choppy! Damm."

Service itself was easy to setup and worked OK, though there was a large number of times when a call would just drop - with no other traffic and QOS priority.
There is no customer service phone number and customer service is extremely poor.
I initially subscribed using Paypal. Then when I wanted to call a country not included in my country list I was notified that I had to give them a credit card instead since they couldn't alter amount they charged via Paypal. Few month later I noticed that they've been charging both my Paypal and my credit card for same service.
So I was double-charged for 4 months. Well, things happen, so I emailed them asking to remediate the issue. I sent initial email on December 10, 2007 from my gmail account. That one and next one on Dec. 14 were not answered. So I sent another one from my work account on Dec. 19. That one they acknowledged the same day saying they'll look into it. Nothing happened. I email them again on January 2, 2008, 3 weeks later. Still no response. And of course their customer service number is not listed anywhere.
So, my advice for you - if you want to have any kind of customer service - stay away from axvoice.

I am not rating the Tech Support of Axvoice because I have not yet had an opportunity to need their assistance.
I am a Sunrocket refugee. I doubted the earliest reports of Sunrocket's demise and waited a couple days until it was certain that they were going under and no takeover was going to rescue the customers. Then I began my research. I wasted a month trying to get service from ViaTalk before giving up and deciding to try Axvoice.
I've only been using the service for a few days now, but so far everything has been nearly flawless. I say nearly flawless because my initial signup using the sunrocket promo code hit a snag. The front page proclaiming their deal for sunrocket refugees had a code, but using the code during signup produced a "this code is expired please erase it" message. Needless to say I wasn't too happy about that.
Here's the timeline for my signup:
Aug16 5:30pm I try to signup. Code expired.
Aug16 6:17pm I send an email expressing my displeasure to Axvoice sales.
Aug16 7:10pm I receive an email apology and Axvoice renews the promo code.
Aug16 7:45pm I signup for Axvoice service using the sunrocket promo code.
Aug16 7:54pm I receive an email confirmation of signup.
Aug17 4:55pm Axvoice calls me to confirm order. I'm told "Ok we're activating your service"
Aug17 4:57pm I receive an email regarding voicemail setup.
Aug17 4:59pm I receive an email with account activation instructions.
Aug17 5:22pm I activate my account, fill in E911 info, and receive SIP credentials.
Aug17 5:30pm I reconfigure & reboot my AC211SR. Phone service working.
I was both surprised and pleased to receive an email response from sales less than an hour after I complained about the non-working promo code. Not only did I receive a response quickly, but in that same time they actually reactivated the code before contacting me. That was great.
I was a bit surprised to actually be CALLED by the company prior to activation. Make a note of that. Axvoice actually calls you before setting up the service and confirms that you did indeed order from them. That means you need to give them a working phone number. Luckily I took the vague warning that they "might" call to confirm the order and made sure to give them my cell phone number rather than my old sunrocket number. If you order from Axvoice make sure you take that into consideration. You do not want to get stuck playing phone tag when you are trying to setup new service.
At this point I've only been using the service for a little over 2 days, but it has been flawless. Of course I'm technical enough to unlock my old sunrocket adapter and reconfigure it plus setup my router for port forwarding and QoS. I'm using BYOD since I couldn't afford to wait any longer after the ViaTalk fiasco. Axvoice lets you use whatever device you like, but you are then responsible for your own support so take that into consideration. If you're not particularly technical then maybe you should use their supplied adapter instead. So far I've had no troubles and I'm planning to switch to an Asterisk server down the road, so BYOD is probably the best option for me right now.
I'll keep track of my service and update this post accordingly. Axvoice doesn't have a lot of reviews so I'll do my best to keep this one accurate. If and when I get the opportunity to use Tech Support I will add that rating in. For now, I leave it blank.

I've been with Axvoice since October of 2005. The experience has been only positive. I ordered BYOD, since I had SIPURA adapter, which I had bought from VOXILLA, and used before when I was with Broadvoice. The installation was painless, and took minutes, had to play a little with settings, but no major issues. Tech support is provided by RNK (who is a provider for Axvoice) tech's, and they've been really helpful whenever I needed help. The only couple of hick-ups I've had was with one specific phone number in Russia that for some reason I could not reach. Other than that, the service has been perfect (I hope I am not going to jinx it ))). Also one of the super convenient features, at least it is for me that they offer for $4.95 is so called VOIPTOGO. What it means is that you can use any phone that has an outbound caller-id to call anyone in the world using your VOIP service (and corresponding rates of course, which in a lot of cases are really nothing, since Axvoice has a lot of countries on the list of Free destinations).

UPDATE: After giving them a try for awhile, I gave up a sent back to my first love, LINGO. I am still waiting on the LNP to go through. AxVoice had spotty call quality. We got so tired of dropped calls. It was happening on EVER call. We got so frustrated with it that we just started using our cell phone until we got our Lingo box. I can honestly say now, I would NOT recommend them to anyone.
Well I'm trying out AxVoice. They are new and I'm not over impressed, but I'm not disappointed either. I was surprised that they have to call you to confirm your VoIP order. They don't make this as obvious on their website as they should. Had I known that I would not have signed up at work and given my home number. I would have given them my cell number. So I was expecting to go home and try the service out the first day, but had to wait until the next day because we were playing phone tag. They would call and I would call back with no luck getting anyone. WARNING: Do not signup after 5PM eastern or you maybe out of luck until the next day. They say they are open later, but don't count on anyone answering the phone. Well once I got confirmed I got 2 emails. Once contained the account credentials to setup the Sipura 3000 I have via Voxilla. I got that working great after wiping my Sipura back to factory because the BroadVoice settings would not go away. That's not AxVoice or Voxilla's fault, I think that is something BroadVoice did to my Sipura. So I get connected and try to call my cell phone, 219-XXXX, no luck. WTF, OK Dial 904-219-XXXX, bam, the cell phone rings. OK, you have to use 10-digit dialing. Wish I had known that! AxVoice says its because only smaller older parts of the country still have 7-digit dialing. HELLO, THAT IS PLAIN FALSE!!! The majority of the country is still on 7-digit dialing. I wish people wouldn't have that freaking I live on an island mentality. OK. So I look around on their website and they have a feature called Short Digit Dial. It's a pretty cool feature. This is their work around for 7 digit dialing. Basically you turn it on and it will take your number, say 904-123-4567 and if you dial 123-4568 it will add the 904. It's based off of your number, remember. So if you dial 56, it will add 904-123-45 to make it 904-123-4556! Pretty cool. My wife did have a problem calling Germany once or twice since we've had. BTW, we got it last week around 2/9 or 2/10. I haven't heard from her of any other issues. I have seen Comcast call and I don't hear anything. I'm not too sure about that, I think it maybe something else, cause no other calls do that, just when Comcast calles. I hope this helped someone. At the moment I wouldn't recommend them, but I also wouldn't say don't use them either. As my Bottom Line says, Time will tell...

$18 per month- (month by month)
about 8 days "follows SIP standards, flat-rate European and USA calling" "a million config parms in the Sipura ATA" "Solid value, once you get past the initial device config frustration."
| Web-site: Ease of Installation: Call Quality: Reliability: Tech Support: Value for money:

Now that Skype is charging for outbound calls, and I find that my 2-year-old Packet8 workhorse service is: * Not compatible with 3rd-party SIP hardware * Can't be used with a PC client without an additional $4/month charge * Can't be used on a PDA
I got the feeling I'd been "locked in" to proprietary solutions and it was time to replace both Skype and Packet8 with SIP standards-compliant service and hardware. The price I had to pay was the complexity of filling in dozens and dozens of config parms, now that I was programming an open, unlocked SIPura-1001 ATA on my BYOD Axvoice plan.
In the end, I traded a weekend of frustration for freedom. Axvoice pointed out my mistakes in configuring account settings and now I have dialtone that works for $19/month unlimited USA. My new open-standards solutions allows me to: * Call via ATA, a portable box that provides analog dialtone to home phones * Call via PC, when at a hotel room talking on long business conferences * Call via PDA or cell-PDA phone when travelling and a wifi hotspot is near. Axvoice needs to put screenshots of actual device configs on their website. Yes, it might appear I was cloddish in getting the parms wrong, but it was my first time. Cut a guy some slack and walk him through the configs.
FYI, this all works through an EVDO modem on Sprint's wireless Internet network. The modem is plugged into a WRT54G3G-ST router, which makes a wifi bubble anywhere I plop it down and provide power: the beach, the park, a moving car, a hotel room, or at home. All nearby wifi-enabled devices have Internet connectivity through EVDO and can make calls from the road.
I'm in telecommuter heaven. Next step: go to the beach and connect into the office network, dial into hours of phone conferences, not burn any cell minutes and they never know I'm not in a cubicle.
