I initially could not sign up via the site as it was broken and almost completely unusable. They use Javascript for everything, including displaying new pages, leading to frustration when the browser's back button kicks you out to the site you visited before axvoice.com. After registering via phone everything was set up pretty quickly. The sample Asterisk configuration provided on the site worked, though I modified it a little to suit my needs. I had the service for about 3 days, it was intermittent and tech support is not available by phone.
One thing to note about their US/Canada 200 plan; currently this runs 9.99, which is $5.00 more per month than the Pay as You Go plan. The only thing the US/C200 plan offers that the PaYG plan doesn't is the 200 US minutes. 200 US minutes cost $3 at the current 1.5c/m. You are paying an extra $5/month for $3 worth of calls. This is just silly. Also, the 15 day money back guarantee does not apply with the Bring Your Own Device option.
I have canceled my account as the low rates aren't enough to make up for poor service and technical support. I would not recommend this service.
Update: One thing I forgot to note is that international dialing is turned off by default. They do not tell you this, when you try calling internationally you get a message saying that international dialing is currently unavailable. An email to customer support got it turned on but there is nothing to suggest that it's unavailable by default.

Service itself was easy to setup and worked OK, though there was a large number of times when a call would just drop - with no other traffic and QOS priority.
There is no customer service phone number and customer service is extremely poor.
I initially subscribed using Paypal. Then when I wanted to call a country not included in my country list I was notified that I had to give them a credit card instead since they couldn't alter amount they charged via Paypal. Few month later I noticed that they've been charging both my Paypal and my credit card for same service.
So I was double-charged for 4 months. Well, things happen, so I emailed them asking to remediate the issue. I sent initial email on December 10, 2007 from my gmail account. That one and next one on Dec. 14 were not answered. So I sent another one from my work account on Dec. 19. That one they acknowledged the same day saying they'll look into it. Nothing happened. I email them again on January 2, 2008, 3 weeks later. Still no response. And of course their customer service number is not listed anywhere.
So, my advice for you - if you want to have any kind of customer service - stay away from axvoice.

UPDATE: After giving them a try for awhile, I gave up a sent back to my first love, LINGO. I am still waiting on the LNP to go through. AxVoice had spotty call quality. We got so tired of dropped calls. It was happening on EVER call. We got so frustrated with it that we just started using our cell phone until we got our Lingo box. I can honestly say now, I would NOT recommend them to anyone.
Well I'm trying out AxVoice. They are new and I'm not over impressed, but I'm not disappointed either. I was surprised that they have to call you to confirm your VoIP order. They don't make this as obvious on their website as they should. Had I known that I would not have signed up at work and given my home number. I would have given them my cell number. So I was expecting to go home and try the service out the first day, but had to wait until the next day because we were playing phone tag. They would call and I would call back with no luck getting anyone. WARNING: Do not signup after 5PM eastern or you maybe out of luck until the next day. They say they are open later, but don't count on anyone answering the phone. Well once I got confirmed I got 2 emails. Once contained the account credentials to setup the Sipura 3000 I have via Voxilla. I got that working great after wiping my Sipura back to factory because the BroadVoice settings would not go away. That's not AxVoice or Voxilla's fault, I think that is something BroadVoice did to my Sipura. So I get connected and try to call my cell phone, 219-XXXX, no luck. WTF, OK Dial 904-219-XXXX, bam, the cell phone rings. OK, you have to use 10-digit dialing. Wish I had known that! AxVoice says its because only smaller older parts of the country still have 7-digit dialing. HELLO, THAT IS PLAIN FALSE!!! The majority of the country is still on 7-digit dialing. I wish people wouldn't have that freaking I live on an island mentality. OK. So I look around on their website and they have a feature called Short Digit Dial. It's a pretty cool feature. This is their work around for 7 digit dialing. Basically you turn it on and it will take your number, say 904-123-4567 and if you dial 123-4568 it will add the 904. It's based off of your number, remember. So if you dial 56, it will add 904-123-45 to make it 904-123-4556! Pretty cool. My wife did have a problem calling Germany once or twice since we've had. BTW, we got it last week around 2/9 or 2/10. I haven't heard from her of any other issues. I have seen Comcast call and I don't hear anything. I'm not too sure about that, I think it maybe something else, cause no other calls do that, just when Comcast calles. I hope this helped someone. At the moment I wouldn't recommend them, but I also wouldn't say don't use them either. As my Bottom Line says, Time will tell...

How did you setup your Sipura? I use the Voxilla setup wizard would not have managed without it. | |
