There is not 1 good thing I can say about this company. Call up support and if/when you get someone all they offer you is credit to your account. I pay $10 extra for 10mbs and that would be great if I could actually connect to the internet and would be even better if it kept working. They insulted me by saying "this is clearly about money" NO I WANT A WORKING PRODUCT I DON'T CARE IF I HAVE TO PAY FOR IT. They somehow got a contract with my development(until 2017) and don't give me the option to get my own internet!!! The response I got from customer service was "think of it as rush hour when you are trying to get home and everyone is on the road that is why its slow.." My response was so your product sucks and if I drive home and I know the road will be busy I HAVE THE OPTION TO TAKE ANOTHER ROAD" I wanted to post this and I never do these reviews but because the last one was 288 days old I wanted to warn everyone the product and service is still one of the worst in the business.

Overall "Unacceptable"

Hotwire communications is so bad that I believe they should loose their ability to continue as a company and all contracts should be legally allowed to cancel immediately. In this day and age daily cable/Internet disruption is unacceptable and it goes down for hours very often.

I just recently moved into a multi-dwelling complex. I knew before hand that i was subject to only one internet provider. I was fine with this because prior to moving in i had called Hotwire to set up installation. I was told that the internet speed would be 5 mbps. This was a little slow for me but i was fine with 5. I couldn't get a installation date because of service updates. I gave them my phone number and they said they would call me back in 48 hours. I waited 4 days and called them back. I was told the same thing. It took me 1 week to get internet. Once i got it setup i tested the speed of the internet. It was only 2.5 mbps. I tried watching netflix but i cant only watch it in SD not HD. I cant even play halo 4 and surf the web at the same time. I called them back and they said only 3 was available to me. I was infuriated that i was mislead. I made a consumer report to BBB and corporate called me back within 24 hrs. They gave me a free month and waived my installation fee. They said they are currently upgrading my speeds but couldn't give me a specific date or time frame. I wouldn't recommend this company to ANYONE!!!!!!

OMG, where do I begin. This has been the most Horrid experience I have had
in customer service in probably all my life (all 42 years of it!).
I moved into my apartment last Wednesday and had an appt for cable to be
turned on Friday between 8am-12pm. I requested time off
from work to be available for this service. I "just happened" to call on
Thursday to ask about adding an additional channel to my service
when advised that the company was no longer the provider but had sent the
information to Hotwire of any pending Direct TV orders. I called
to Hotwire and was told that a representative would call me back to
schedule and keep my Friday appt. NO ONE CALLED BACK. I also emailed
to the person that was to be our representative for our apartments. She
was very nice and emailed back and apologized and said to call in
and place a new order with the new Hotwire company and she would work on
getting the ticket expedited. Great I THOUGHT!. No expediting
occured whatsoever. But here is where things get Bad to Worse!!! They
scheduled me for an appt on Tuesday (today) from 8am-12, told me to have
my Tv's in place and someone 18 or older to be there. I could not take off
again so I asked my daughter to take off and be available for the service
to
be turned on this morning. NO ONE SHOWED AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I received
an email from our representative telling me "Oh the tech doesnt have the
equipment
so we will have to reschedule". WHAT!!!!! I am sorry, I just had another
member of my family miss wages to be told that Hotwire scheduled an appt but
doesnt have the equipment. This was just terrible and unacceptable. All I
received was promises and apologies but ZERO RESULTS. I still have no
service
and my daughter still missed work/wages and I've YET to find out when they
plan on turning on my TV service. This is what takes the cake. The
apartments
are in contract with this company and I have Absolutely NO CHOICE in my
provider. I am stuck with Hotwire for the entirety of my lease unless the
apartments
just happen to change. IF YOU LIVE IN AN APARTMENT WARN YOUR AGENTS
NOOOOOOOOT TO CHOOSE HOTWIRE!!!!! ITS A DISASTER WAITING TO
HAPPEN!!!! Very Very displeased, disastified, and disappointed (THE 3
NEGATIVE D'S)!!!!!!!

Several years ago my property owners association contracted with Hotwire Communications to provide cable, Internet and phone service to our owners. It has been a disaster!

Our POA president, Mr. Alan Platner, architected this arrangement. In return for putting in fiber for free and an ONT at each residence, we got a greatly reduced rate for services. It hasn't been worth it, not in any sense. With ping times well above 200ms and uploads at less than 1Mbs and downloads at speeds of less than 2Mbs, the service is slow. Worse than that, it's unreliable. I've had over 100 service interruptions lasting several hours over the last two years. What makes this problematic is that when the service goes down, it's cable, phone and Internet, the whole shebang!

Our POA has "shared" this "great advantages" to other associations. They hate us for having put them into the same problem set that we have. What are those problems? Video breaks up into pixelation and sound freezes on cable, phone calls drop like cell calls all the time, Internet link accesses freeze halfway through a page.

The worst facet of Hotwire Communications service is it's "cusstomer" service (no that's not a typo), because you cuss every time you have to call customer suppor)t. An average wait time is 30 minutes. When you get to 2nd level or 3rd level support where they might be able to help you, your call will probably drop.

Pass on this company. If you are thinking about moving into a building or association with Hotwire, look elsewhere. I'm most frustrated by the lack of anything resembling deterministic service, the abysmal customer support, and how unlikely anything is going to change in the future.

Think of it this way, you could get a $35 / month MiFi 3G 4G or 4G LTE mobile router and be much better off. That's sad when you think of the promise of "last mile" fiber.

Customer: Sam
Product: Combined Internet and Cable $61.99 / month

Review: Terrible. Stay Away. Substandard product, slow connections when
its working, frequently just stops working, sometimes days at a time.
Customer service is functionally nonexistant. Phone tree that is never
answered, messages and emails are never replied too. I just spent literally
29 days trying to resolve a billing issue and still have not been able to
speak with a supervisor, or anyone that can do more than read what they have
in front of them on the computer screen. I spent this whole time following
the instructions of each representative I spoke with, only to hear from the
next one that I was told the wrong instructions. Might be the cheapest, but
you get what you pay for. I'm switching companies as soon as possible.

Hello-I wanted to tell you about an employee "Thomas Ganezelli" I called yesterday because I was having a horrible problem replying to e-mails- Thomas worked with me for a long while- and then was copying all the information messages- and made sure to get back to me with answers later that day on anything he had to look into. Thomas has gone over and beyond what I expected....and he needs to be thanked. I felt that everyone should know what great customer service Hotwire has.

* very poor connection speed, high latency, oversubscribed
* downstream speed in the evenings in good times around 200kbps, can go to 10 kbps, interruptions can go for several seconds
* customer service is non-existant
* they are lying about service trying to sign you up

This provider is the worst I've ever seen. If you don't have any other provider, get wireless from your cell phone company, or get a dialup, it will work better.

The off-campus student apartment complex I live in has hotwire for TV/Internet. Our internet speed and uptime is superb. 100 MB files download in under 2 min and have no issues streaming HD videos. Our channel lineup is decent with about 5 or 6 premium movie channels (None HD). Most of the channels are good quality with the exception of the history channel. Sometimes the audio is garbled on that channel. Its great value as I only pay $25 /mo for internet and TV (included in my rent as a communications fee). Also every device gets its own public IP address and all ports are open/no throttling. Very happy with this service.
