Im using Sprint Mobile EVDO Rev.A with my SERO phone plan. Im paying $30/mo for 500min and unlimited everything else. I've only noticed a loss of signal in middle of nowhere places. The device I'm using is a PPC-6800 Mogul, tethered (usb/wifi ap/bluetooth) to my MacBook. (Also im using a custom rom and radio flash.) The speed is great; I speed test at 1300/512-- thats base DSL speeds on the go!! I would've listed customer service as a bad point, but I haven't had to deal with them, so that's a good thing member for 22.9 years, 2314 visits, last login: 242 days ago updated 15.7 years ago
I am employed by Sprint so I pay only 14.99 for the service. I have a U595 card (USB). The coverage seem to be excelent. Signal strength is about 95% when stationary most of the time. When moving the signal is around 85%. Plus there are ways tweak the card to get the optimal speed I have been testing a hybrid wimax / evdo card in the last 6 weeks. I can say the speeds are impressive for mobile broadband. member for 19.4 years, 1640 visits, last login: 13.2 years ago updated 15.7 years ago
I got my Sprint Mogul in Oct 2007 while living in Kansas City. EVDO Rev A coverage there was very good, considering the Sprint headquarter was just a few miles away. Coverage exceeded my expectations on my drive from KC to SF, although no coverage was available in much of Utah and Nevada. I dropped my phone in Colorado, and the phone wouldn't charge anymore. The Sprint repair shop at Reno, NV was able to get it fixed with quick turn-around. I turn my phone in on a Friday afternoon at 5, and the phone was ready for pickup on Saturday at 11. Even though my previous experiences with the telephone support at Sprint was less than desirable (they were giving me conflicting info and had some attitude), this time at the Reno location was very smooth and pleasant. Now that I have moved back to the SF bay area, I'm glad to find that EVDO Rev A coverage here is good as well. I get consistently (down/up) ~900kbps/300kbps. member for 20.8 years, 167 visits, last login: 14.3 years ago updated 15.7 years ago
I use it a lot in airports. Good bandwidth there. I also use it occasionally in the car/ truck (not driving, of course). Very good there and a time saver. Coverage over their higher bandwidth network has improved a lot in the past year. Coverage in very large cities better but could stand an upgrade in certain buildings. Other than that, if you are mobile, you need a Sprint Broadband data card. member for 16.4 years, 402 visits, last login: 2 years ago lodged 15.7 years ago
Sprint Broadband - It works!!!! Been with the network for 2 months now, and loving it. The sped is good and the convenience is awesome. Built in card on new SONY laptop, switched me from version. Sprint kicks The big V's butt. Better seed, better coverage, and much better C.Service if you have there busness plan. Ordered the new 597 from the 3G store, so far so good. I am having some issues with the cradelpoint 1000 router at higher security levels but it is so versatile I am willing to overlook some of that for now. There may be an easy fix to that but I have not contacted the 3G store tech support yet. I used the Sprint phone as modem for 2 years with good results so I expect the same results with faster speeds. member for 18.8 years, 194 visits, last login: 7.4 years ago lodged 15.8 years ago
I drive a truck cross country and this is how i surf the net. Be four this service i was conecting via hot spots at truck stops and rest areas along the way. Most of the time it was just ok but there where a lot of times that i was unable to get on the internet because the lan was down or there where just to many people loged in at the same time. Every where i wouldstop would have differnt provider and the cost can get up there fast. Some months i would spend 75. to 90. bucks just to access the web. Sprint gets me on and keeps me there as long i want for 59.99 the speed is 1500 down and 850 up load some times its a little slower and sometimes its a lot higher but playing games and IMing Emailing works great.I have only had 2 times i was so far out in the country that there was no signal and could not access the web. I am very happy with the service and will stay with them. member for 22.4 years, 431 visits, last login: 13 years ago lodged 15.8 years ago
This review is for Sprint Mobile Broadband as part of a $99 Simply Everything phone plan. As such, this review may not be appropriate for those considering a data-only plan. Here are the pros and cons: Pros: - Amazing plan includes unlimited everything for $100. I previously paid that for T-Mobile phone-only services. - I *love* the Sprint Navigation feature! A Garmin in a phone! Very nice! - Full Blackberry features included for the price I previously paid for phone-only service. Cons: - The phone does not work as well as my old GSM phone worked with T-Mobile. - I need to travel internationally with this phone. Since Sprint uses CDMA, I was limited to choosing from only TWO phones that also include a GSM capability. - The Blackberry 8830 phone that I chose is the most power hungry phone I have ever seen. Good luck getting through a day without charging it! I've had it die *while charging* when using navigation. - The web browser on this phone is practically unusable. They really need to work on making a usable phone browser. - I'm not supposed to use this phone as a modem for a computer under this plan. Since I have Millenicom for internet, I'm not overly concerned, but it would be nice to have that option, particularly since the phone's browser is so bad. - Phone only supports EVDO Rev 0. Not a big limitation since the browser is so bad. - Phone does not support Sprint TV or Sprint Radio, which sound like nice features of the plan. - I miss having a sim card so that I can move my plan from phone to phone without involving Sprint. - I hate having a 2-year commitment. But the plan made me do it! UPDATE: I have cancelled this service since the cell phone did not work in my home. Here are the details of how bad it was to deal with Sprint: »Recommendation: Beware Sprint's billing department member for 18.4 years, 280 visits, last login: 14.7 years ago updated 15.8 years ago
Great to see when a company includes their fellow citizens in the Virgin Islands and other territories in their "nationwide" definition. A great offer that has raised the bar for all the competition. While the metrics may not be the same as stateside, Sprint could still pay a little closer attention to service slowdowns as their network grows. I have seen a clear network slowdown as consumers flocked to abandon predatory local ISP offers. member for 17.1 years, 157 visits, last login: 10.3 years ago lodged 15.8 years ago
Here's a product thought would never work as it should.... but to my amazement it works great! Originally purchased as a temporary fix since Integra Telecom couldn't provide a viable and reliable DSL service to our business. My download speeds vary anywhere from 1.1mbs - 2.6mbs down depending on signal/location/traffic (That's well beyond what our Sprint rep promised us!). Upload has been pretty constant around 380kbs (which meets our needs) Purchased the SMB service and a Cradle Point router. I have it reliably serving up web access for our small business. The install took minutes and the hook up was as quick as visiting the local Sprint store. We got a 30 days to be assured of our satisfaction - try getting Integra Telecom to stand behind thier product LOL! Three days into it and I can tell you that we'll be a customer for some time to come. Flawless performance, painless install, no service techs... no more tweedle dee and tweedle dumb pointing fingers at 3rd party vendors for deficiencies in thier network. Sprint's network is fast, reliable, and affordable. Best of all I can pick up and move locations and NEVER have to call to have another line dropped. member for 15.9 years, 2 visits, last login: 15.8 years ago lodged 15.9 years ago |
