Good "I get 1656 kb on a 1500 kb connection. Modem works, Good support, No blocked ports, Utorrent works good."
Bad "Price, Modem CP complecated."
Overall "Its good for anyone running the web, I use TF2, a irc server, Google talk Steam and Xchat all at the same time and it works fine"

Iowatelecom is the only isp in my area (70 for internet/phone). I have 1.5 Mb internet, Install was great I have a Netopia Modem, bridging ok Modem cp complicated though.

Also A FYI: IT is getting baught by Windstream, It will be for the best (12/3 Fiber)

Bad "Mediacom has so much more bandwidth for less dollars"
Overall "I dropped Iowa Telecom asap and went with the 8MB plan from Mediacom"

Wow imagine a whopping 8MBpS download vs 1.5 mbps for a cheaper cost. Lets do the math. Yes, Mediacom wins handsdown. Service was installed in 24 hours and have never had a glitch. Mediacom is so stinking fast it blows my mind. Plus, you don't have to have a land line like Iowa Telecom. Local LEC's are a dying breed.

Bad "Way behind the times, max rate 1.5mbps, Unwilling to update crappy old servers"

The max in our small town is 1.5mbps, woohoo....tech support didn't care about gamers, so if ya like to game alot, this is not the isp for you.

Living in small town Iowa has its advantages. A plethora of broadband providers isn't one of them. Iowa Telecom is the only broadband option besides satellite (and I'm not even sure that's an option). With that in mind, I haven't had to call customer service since I installed DSL over a year ago. Beings they are the only provider in town, they can set the price a little high.
