I've been with Be There for a month now and things are excellent. My
previous ISP (Aquiss) ended up hopeless, constant disconnections, being
fobbed off all the time, blaming my equipment etc etc.

When i got my Mac Code, i complete the Be There online ordering system and
waited. Confirmation emails were prompt (almost immediate). The BeBox
router (which was included) i was told would be about 5 days.. arrived 2
days later ! I was various impressed with this.

Come activation day, i was a little confused. I must have mistaken my
activation day because my connection completely disappeared from my old
isp. No sync, nothing. So i plugged in the BeBox and immediately synced at
12meg. This was 3 meg higher than Aquiss, and the noise margin was about
the same.

Later that day i had a call from a very polite dutch guy from BeThere,
cheerily welcoming me. When i told him i'd already got it working he
informed me that he'd called to help me set the equipment up and to check
what profile my line required. With this, he then noted my sync speed, did
a bit of tweeking and before long had me at 16meg !!! EXTREMELY helpful,
and polite. I was advised to keep an eye on the stability in case any
issues occurred (which they did lol)

When i had a problem about a week later (with the connection dropping),
they tweeked the line further to stabilise it (a bit slower but more
stable) and i've been on it since.. UNTIL....

Tonight... i came home from work and nothing was working. The router kept
dropping the connection and despite my efforts for over and hour, it was
kinda goosed.. so i phoned their freephone 0808 tech support number (my
previous isp used to close over the weekend) and a dutch guy did a quick
check and remarks on 'many disconnections going on here'.. i did giggle a
bit i must admit. With this, he asked if he could do a line test, i
unplugged everything from the line and he confirmed that there was a fault
with the phone line and logged it with BT there and then.

I'd have expected that to be it.. no access for 48 hours while waiting for
BT. That's what used to be the case but not here.. He almost apologetically
said that he could increase the noise reduction on the line to enable me to
still use the internet while we waited for BT to repair it. Unfortunately
it would be a reduced speed.. but hey.. it was 10meg !

So here i am now, feeling that i should write this for obvious reasons.
I've been told that when BT have repaired the line, BeThere will
automatically call me on my mobile to let me know, and they'll run another
line test to verify that it's all ok again.. but to 'just remind whoever
calls back to raise your line speed back again'.

A brilliant service.. and please don't call them Indians.. because they're
Dutch!!

... and for info, i've been an internet user since the very beginning and
haven't had service like this with ANY other isp.

If it does go down hill, be sure i'll be telling people.. but i doubt it
will with my experience..

Ask away if anyone has any questions
Barry

ps. I'll probably put the same review on another site rather than type the
same thing in again..

Used to be with Tiscali, crap ISP, so i decided on BE, I 've got 12MB download speeds, and uploads at 1.5MB for £17.50 a month.

Very easy to install with a free router.

Speedtouch router (wireless)

Any problems i've had, which is only one, was dealt with over phone and corrected straight away.

Been with BE for 2 years, good service and speed for whole period. Can't fault them.

I was told on joining BE that I was 1.7 km from the exchange so I would not get the full 24 meg speed so I was prepared for the worst as you need to be quite close to the exchange to get anywhere near the full advertised speeds.
I was pleasantly surprised to get 14500 kbps download speed in UK on the ADSLGUIDE.org speedtest and 13410 kbps download from the DSLREPORTS NY speed testing site. My upload speeds are 1172 kbps. The pings are great and the number of servers to California used by BE is 11 compared with 25 that NTL used and the pings were higher with NTL.
I find the tech support very well trained and a polite telephone manner. I have asked for the connection to be tweaked and this has been done by raising a ticket online and it being dealt with successfully and I was notified by text on my mobile phone.

I now live closer to the exchange and have upgraded to the BE Pro service and achieve 14630 kbps download and 1616 kbps upload to the dsl reports New York test server from Manchester Uk.

Well done BE Team........My Heros

The service was delivered on the day it was originally intended, a few issues with the telco cutting over to their service resolved in a few hours however the provided hardware had no firmware on it, had to flash this myself.

Consistent speeds, but since a move to static IP address router very unreliable. In addition was moved to static IP address without being informed what that address was meaning I had to log on using an alternative connection before DSL would work again.

Price decrease appeared to decrease quality of service initially, however capacity planning has gotten back to grips with things some more. Previously unreliable DHCP and DNS have been stabilised and are much better.

After a few issues the ISP has improved and is once again a well run ship. Still a little 'mom and pop' but increasingly professional and responsive.

Shame to leave them due to moving home!

I'm on the £14 a month Be Value package.

Love the 1.3 meg upload, no traffic shaping or caps, and the price.

Dislike the less than responsive DNS servers (you can switch to OpenDNS), and the way they push their own router (although there are unofficial ways to use alternatives). It's also annoying the way they charge £100 for the "free" router if you don't return it at the end of the contract, despite it being worth much less than that.

Still, the upsides far outweigh the minor issues, and as someone who lives on his DSL line, I can't think of another UK ISP who I'd switch to right now.

I moved over from another ISP who was charging me more for less speed and who's tech support was poor. I considered several other ISP's but the most speed they could offer me was an 8mb connection and the prices for the 8mb connection were all comparable to the "up to 24mb" price offered by "Be There". At the time the monthly fee was £24 (US $46.84), this has since been reduced to £18 (US $35.13).

Due to poor quality British Telecom cabling, in my area a large proportion of the cable is tin or lead and wrapped in jute and gutta percha, the cabling itself was installed in the early 60's I was expecting to get around 8-10mb speeds. I have a nice stable connection that varies in speed between 12 and 16mb depending on how much it has been raining (I guess the water is getting into the 40 year old wiring).

"Be There" have been very good about informing me of technical issues for example the email me a week in advance of any planned outages, and then they send a reminder 24 hours beforehand. I have only experienced one unplanned outage and that was resolved within hours.

When I have had issues with the router they sent me, a new one was delivered by "Be There" within 24 hours.

Their staff are always helpful and pleasant and having the support numbers being freefone (toll-free) is a big plus factor, too many companies hit you with premium rate phone numbers that cost 50p a minute and upwards.

In conclusion "Be There" have not let me down. Customer Service means exactly that.
If there is a problem they will work tirelessly to resolve it. The staff are knowledgeable and not just reading from a step by step on screen troubleshooting program.

I am not easily satisfied but "Be There" have delivered everything the promised and more.

Well what can I say, Be* has to be the best ISP I have ever used in the UK. The speeds are fantastic upload and download. What other company in the UK offers 24mbit/1.3mbit for £24 GBP per month? To get that sort of upload speed you looking at SDSL in the UK which will cost you the princly sum of £199 a month through BT. Another excellent feature of Be* is that the company does not employ any sort of traffic shaping or P2P blocking like other UK ISP's. I was able to downlod the latest uBuntu linux distro the other day using the bittorrent protocol and the average download speed was 1.8MB/s Megabytes not megabits! The only downside I have come accross is that the Tech Support and Member Services part of the company is based in Bulgaria, on a whole though they do speak good english but sometimes I have had a few difficulties explaining the more technical realated issues. This is negated though as the members area has an excellent forum full of techy members who help out those other people in need of help.

If this service is avaliable in your area, grab it fast. Drop those shabby UK ISP's that dictate what you can use your internet connection for and at what time of day you can use it without your bandwidth being restricted!

Thanks Be* or your great service.

A Happy Be* Unlimited Customer!
