Business customer $149 per month "Friendly, local, and very reliable" "Rescheduled because of weather, but this is understandable." "Great for the value!!!"

We had looked at going with Verizon locally, and even Mediacom but had heard horror stories on both of those providers. I won't even begin to rant on how displeased we were with comcast (or should I say communist-cast?)
Called up Wishcom, found out they were local. Gave them our address, and we were right within the coverage area in spring grove. They had to put off the initial install because of weather, but I can understand this as they are wireless and need to work on the roof for the antenna part of it.
Everything said and done, we have been very pleased. We have only had 2 outages, it was for "network maintenance" and we were notified. It was on a weekend, so it did not bother us. Speeds have been fine, we have constantly seen around 3 to 5 megs of service, even during peak hours (which is what we are paying for). The second one, we called up tech support and got it resolved right away (was just a matter of power cycling a device).
A little on the expensive side, but we don't mind paying as it's a local business, and you don't talk to some out-sourced script reader overseas to try and solve your problems.
So far, I would absolutely recommend them for business internet.

Woodstock,Mchenry,IL
$40 per month "Speed, technical knowlege, committed to excellent service, small local firm"
| |
We have lived in local Woodstock area for 6 years and have had various broadband providers for the last 5. Being rural, our only option is wireless.
The first company we were with for almost 3 years. We were happy except for speed (350kbs or so) and reliability - whenever it was cold their equipment would reboot or lock up. They did improve reliability but not speed. And the cost was excessive ($50/mo). I believe their equipment was Trango.
The second company we were with was the largest local wireless broadband provider in McHenry county. We were previously with them for dial-up and liked them very much. Their broadband quality was excellent (Motorola Canopy equipment, in the 2.x GHz band line-of-sight). However, VOIP would not work with their network implementation, which was an important consideration for us. Additionally they had (have?) a policy of drastically throttling back download speed after the first 10MB. This gives the appearance of very fast downloads for small files but in reality for any kind of file size the speeds were quite low. At $50/mo the service wasn't cheap either.
We learned about Wishcom in November 2006 and switched to them in January 2007. We've since learned that there is a lot to like about them.
First is that they are committed to providing a quality service. There is no download speed throttling. I have the fastest connection available for their non-line-of-sight (900MHz Canopy) service and consistent achieve 3MBs or faster download speeds. VOIP works perfectly. Ping times are consistently in the low to mid 40mS round trip.
Second is they will commit to solving problems when they crop up. We recently had a problem with significant interference, causing severe connectivity problems between around 8 and 11pm. Wishcom stayed with me and eventually got to the bottom of the problem and solved it by, at their own expense, replacing my antenna with a higher gain more directional Yagi. I have heard of other companies not being willing to troubleshoot such problems. This level of customer service is hard to find with the "big boys".
Third is pricing. At $40 they do provide the fastest service at a fair price.
The only possible downside is that, not being a big firm, they can't offer 24x7 phone support for residential customers. However, given their network reliability that really isn't a big deal. Dealing with the kind of firms that can provide 24x7 support can often be very frustrating since these are usually big buerocracies.
Overall we've been very happy with Wishcom and wish them to do very well in the rural McHenry county area. In our opinion they are an excellent choice if you value having quality service, responsive tech support (within normal business hours), like doing big downloads, and like having flawless VOIP.

$30 per month about 7 days "responsive, fast, personable a good value for the money" "a great product for the Spring Grove community"

tried mediacom cable, the quality of all products was horrible. Service would not come out for a 2 week timeframe, for repairs. Reaching them by phone was a minimum of 30 min. or longer. Telephone service most of the time did not work at all, or sounded bad, as for the internet it was very slow and froze up constantly. therefore, I returned back to Wishcom for their excellent reliability.
