I got a new Samsung 56" so I wanted to get a better picture and HD channels so I switched to Dish Network. I like the channel selection and pricing. But I was extremely disappointed when I found out that even though the local channels are broadcast in HD that Dish Network does not carry the HD feed. And, on occasion when there are satelllite problems, Dish drops the ball on getting the programming back online. DirectTV really has them beat on response time. 10-15-09: Disconnected from Dish because of the nightmare that was going to be required to wire my new house. Dealing with CS for disconnect was the very worst experience I have ever had. When/if they ever get some wireless means of distribution throughout a house I *might* go back. The do need to fire all their CS people and get new people with proper training. member for 18.2 years, 2077 visits, last login: 8.3 years ago updated 12.2 years ago
march '09 Been customer for years now. Original install done late so I didn't see the bad cable layout out back, Had an upgrade done 9 months ago to HD and got the good DVR which is almost flawless. 5 days ago got a srv call because dish was loose and I'm not going up there ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------- 11/21/2009 Considering the Uverse packages now from 11/12-26 they are giving rebates and some $ off for 6 months. Wife wants 3 extra sets up stairs. I have fought off putting tv in kid's room & bedroom for 16 years, and i am losing that fight for christmas. That said, there is other reasons, dish has been going out and in for two weeks now. The picture is excellent when on and the dvr is rocking, but I need to have multiple tv w/ a buried cable. Got cable internet, Lingo VOIP, and dish set up, and has worked for years. Total Bill is 157 (tx incld). Looks like 162 w/out tax for the upgrade to uverse, 202 after 6 months. Why pay more? movies, faster internet, extra connects w/out an extra dvr. deciding today on this, and i'll get back on the whole install/deinstall hassles or heaven. member for 16.3 years, 39 visits, last login: 8.6 years ago updated 12.3 years ago
April 29, 2007 I called mid july of 2006, didn't get service till early September. They were always out of the dish 1000 kit for HD. If it wasn't for me calling ahead to see if they were coming out for install I would of been waiting a few times for nothing. Bad communication on thier part. The local install people were a bit better on communication. I told them from the begining that I didn't want the dish on the roof. I just got a new roof last year. When the service guy came out he got the ladder out to go onto the roof. I told him noway. So he put it in the yard on a pole. Which is fine with me.. Once setup, it was great. I got the HD with DVR ($200) upgrade. I've had no problems for the most part. Some digital scrambling and I loose connection in bad storms. Nothing big though. April 03, 2008 No real problems. My receiver went bad and they sent me a new one. Price after one year is just too much. Cancelled locals and the home protection plan. Why should I pay insurance for thier equipment?? If the reciever goes out again I will cancell if they don't want to send another. November 16, 2009 I dropped Dish. Getting tired of paying so much for TV.. member for 18.3 years, 4297 visits, last login: 3.8 years ago updated 12.3 years ago
Great service, the only downfall is the local channels are easily lost due to weak signal strength, but otherwise the service is wonderful. I would highly recommend dish network. member for 15.2 years, 2838 visits, last login: 7.5 years ago updated 12.4 years ago
Great company. Never had a problem with service, Receive great picture. Moved from NY to GA, While living in a temporary location, I called Dish and told them that I would not have access to put up Dish, they kept my account "Live". When I finally got the house built, I called Dish and they started me where I left off. Installed new Dish free of charge. Never had a problem with Customer service. Very knowledgable, short wait times (If you listen and do not call during heavy peak times). Equiptment is worry-free. member for 21 years, 137 visits, last login: 11.9 years ago lodged 12.4 years ago
Service dropped every time it rained. DVR that wants to record adult programs on 2nd tuner in daughter's room--and that crashed receiver when stopped. A movie recorded in 23 one minute segments. Screens are oriented toward making it too easy for anyone in household to order pay services or upgrades. Too many problems to list. Certainly not TIVO quality. Using their latest receivers too. I wanted to cancel immediately at install, three days into service, and then 13 days into service. Customer service did anything to try to make right and said I had 30 days to try service and cancel without cost. On day 26 I canceled. They claimed they never had a 30 day period to cancel and insist on charging me $360 early termination fee. Quite simply, they lied, they didn't keep the phone recordings, they claim they aren't even capable of contacting the representatives by the codes they had given as contacts. Calls get transferred from one person to the next and nobody is capable of terminating the contract. They are a desperate company with inferior technology that will do whatever they can to make a buck and that doesn't deserve to remain in business. Don't give them your business. Look at U-Verse if you can, or else Comcast with TIVO series 3. If you do go with Dish then do it with them directly instead of through one of their resellers. The resellers just add unnecessary costs and terms. A lawyer may contact me for action against Dish Network. I expected to be able to terminate the contract within 30 days without cost as I was assured multiple times. Also please contact me if you were told of a 30 day period. I upgraded to dish last month from Comcast, because I was tired of the lack of quality from Comcast analog signal. I complained to Comcast a couple of times because of my poor signal quality, and their response was "upgrade to or digital service" which costs a great deal more than the analog service, and has equipment rental fees. the neatest thing I found about dish was the ability to have two TV’s tuning independent channels using one STB. That along with the lack of rental fee for the equipment sealed the deal for me. The installer was quite professional and was even kind enough to pull a string down through the wall along with the cable for the Sat, so that I could pull an Ethernet cable later. He also took the time to talk to me about my setup (I use SageTV to tune the box and distribute my TV) so that he could set everything up the way I needed it. I would recommend dish to anyone looking to save money and still get an expanded channel lineup. member for 21.9 years, 4256 visits, last login: 6 years ago updated 12.5 years ago
Just had Dish Network installed. Antenna was a 100.4 Turbo HD with a VIP 722 DVR receiver. Everything works and the HD quality is great. No dropouts even during serious rain storms. The satellite service is rock solid. What made the install painless was the quality of the Dish Network installer, Kuhn Radio and Electronics in York, PA. I would highly recommend them for any satellite installation. member for 13.1 years, 84 visits, last login: 4.2 years ago updated 12.5 years ago
I have had this service for close to six months and have nothing but good things to say about it. The quality is great, and being in the Las Vegas valley, I don't experience any loss of signal because there's 320 days of sunshine per year. The HD quality is much better than what Cox has to offer, and there are far more channels. Channel 212 (Dish Earth) is pretty amazing too. Having live views of Earth from 22,000 miles up is interesting, to say the least. I'm not really much of a sports fan, so Dish was probably the best choice for me. The bottom line in Vegas? Cox HSI + Dish/DirecTV is the way to go. member for 18.7 years, 3886 visits, last login: 178 days ago lodged 12.6 years ago
Ordering was a bitch, we had to call one number then call another number and give them the number the first person gave us , then call back the first number. It was a nightmare and we almost didn't get it because it was too much BS. It took us over an hour to order it. Install...weak. now I have had it for a few years. the coax is hanging off the side of the house because they didn't use enough fasteners. It looked good when they first put it in... Overall I am satisfied with Dish Network. member for 14.6 years, 459 visits, last login: 9.1 years ago updated 12.6 years ago
