Wireless was the only option out here in teh wilds of Bridgenorth but I tries the Rogers vewsion and could not get anywhere near the advertised speed - even when I installed the modem in a box on the roof ogf the house.
The equipment is Motorola - the same type that is a workhorse all over Australia.
As noted above I wanted to save some $ by doing my own install (I've installed antennas in the past) but that option was not made available to me.
The techs who actually did the install worked with my installed equipment to smoothly integrate the new service and did so with little fuss and mess.

The above links to the service I'm currently with. It is advertised as up to 3Mbit/s but in my location I have been able to easily over double that speed and I'm still not convinced that's using it all.
Other than this my only other option was to stay with Bell Sympatico dial-up service which was just terrible. The price of this connection is a little steep but considering the dial-up service was $22/month and this being $47.20/month including taxes I feel it is still within reason as it is, for me, over 100x the speed for just over double the price. If I were to only get the advertised speed I would possibly be more depressed about it but it would still be more than worth it in my opinion.
Another plus point is that the "modem" isn't really a modem. For the service to work a dish, same as a dishnet or expressview dish, is set up and a single ethernet style cable is run into the house and hooked up to a small adapter type device which plugs into your PC/router. The adapter is Motorola branded and does require power but it does not require desk space as it is quite small (the wall plug is bigger than the adapter itself).
I've now had this service for almost 3 months and only had one small incident where the connection died for about 30 minutes but I later found it was only really down for a few minutes and my router was the cause for the longer delay.

| I think you are mixed up. I think you are mixing up NRTCO with Nexicom. My Google foo links me to a »www.nrtco.net/ ; It looks like you are writing a review for this NRTC in the Nexicom ( »nexicom.net ) review section. | |

| NRTCO or Nexicom? I would definately like to know if you had NRTCO's service (since you are in Petawawa), or Nexicom's service.
Also, which service you had (dsl, wireless).
Thanks -- Nexicom - »www.nexicom.net | |

I've dealt with the Nexicom staff for several years for home and business users including my own business usage and their service is excellent. The only problems I've had have involved short service outages, usually not of their doing. Worth mentioning is that during service outages it can be very difficult to get in touch with technical support as they appear to be overloaded with calls at these times but they are otherwise knowledgeable and helpful.
The Nexicom technical staff are flexible and helpful and willing to coordinate co-location, hosting services, IP subnet ranges and routing and filtering and monitoring options.
On the two occasions I've needed a new modem, I was able to get a replacement the same day with almost no delay and no hassle from their staff.
Service is by and large excellent for both business and home users.
