I had AT&T service here in greenville NC and it sucked. What also sucked is the sales girl at the store showed me a press release that said 3g service was coming to Greenville soon. I bought an iPhone and waited for the 3g service and it never came. When Verizon announched the Droid Incredible I knew what day I would finally leave AT&T. 6 weeks in ive been very impressed with VZW and look forward to a nice relationship with them. Maybe one day LTE will surround me. member for 13.8 years, 107 visits, last login: 8.4 years ago lodged 13.8 years ago
This service will keep you connected. When it works well you get very fast service. Not DSL fast but good enough. However I find myself in areas, where the EVDO network is available but get horrible connection speed. For examplem, Internet Speed Test any where from 250ms to 750ms. .57Mbs down and .11Mbs up which is just terrible and renders it useless as even most webpages take too long to load. The 5Gb limit is enforced with absolutely absurd rip off rates. Fall asleep at the switch and just leaving it on overnight might run up a bill in the thousands of dollars. It is no where near VZW's cost, so they are basically gouging their customers. member for 13.8 years, 2 visits, last login: 13.5 years ago lodged 13.8 years ago
I work over the road and need internet access when I travel. Verizon Mobile Broadband solves this problem. Everywhere I have been I have internet service. Verizon has been stable providing me with around a 1Mb/sec connection. I also play World of Warcraft while away from home. It keeps me out of the bars and the Mrs. likes it that way, lol. There can be some latency problems while playing WoW but overall WoW can be played using Verizon Mobile Broadband. With some tweaking I believe that ping times can be reduced for smoother game play. Pros: Wide coverage area, decent download speeds, price. This service is great for people who spend time away from home. Cons: Huge lag spikes (online gaming) once and awhile, disconnect problems once in a blue moon. Overall: Verizon service is something to look into and I will never go without cellular broadband service ever again. I am using the USB760 which has been reliable. It has a slot for a microSD card and it also has an external antenna plugin which I can connect to a 3w signal booster which can help a lot. member for 14.8 years, 3 visits, last login: 13.9 years ago updated 13.8 years ago
I've been with Verizon Wireless since they came to be. I have Cable at home but I'm always on the road and I needed a solution for my laptop. Wifi wouldn't cut it so I decided to add wireless broadband to my wireless phone account. I called them up and as usual they were very helpful and everything went well. I ordered the service and a USB727 modem. I had it in 3 days. I had a little trouble getting it to work. 1 person said there should be an activation form in the shipping box but there wasn't. The paperwork said it automatically activated online. So as I was a bit confused I called upon tech support for an answer. They walked me through some ordeal that wasn't in the instructions and had me up and running in about 10 minutes total. So far it has worked very well and my speeds are beyond what my DSL at home can do. The only real concern I have is paying attention to the 5Gb limit. I hate having to think about that all the time but at least the Access manager let's you know how much you've used. I'll post an update if I have any problems in the future but so far so good. member for 20.5 years, 3997 visits, last login: 1 day ago updated 13.8 years ago
I have spent way too much money trying to get Verizon Wireless Broadband to work the way it is supposed to. Speed test this morning at 7:00 a.m. EST showed Ping 163, DL 0.55 Mb/s, UL 0.25 Mb/s. Seriously give me a break here. I have antennas and boosters and a mini tower to get the antenna up in the "sky" and this is all I get. I truly preferred HughesNet to this very unreliable service. member for 17.3 years, 6 visits, last login: 14 years ago updated 14 years ago
Completly mobile and dependent on Cell and EVDO. VWZ has been expangin the netowrk constantly since I bought ....they can afford it. MUST be used with an external antenna and amplifier for success. The USB options have been the best so far as is the cradlepoint access point . member for 17.2 years, 195 visits, last login: 12.6 years ago lodged 14 years ago
Update- This has long since been cancelled. Had it cancelled when U-verse was installed. 59.99 for around 500k/100k is ridiculous. Alas, 15 for dial-up is a worse deal. In today's world and web applications dial-up is just not an option, so I'll continue to take it from Verizon until AT&T offers me Uverse. Expensive for the bandwidth, and be sure to read the small print as there is a 5 gigabyte cap for "Unlimited" wireless broadband. The FCC shouldn't even allow Verizon to advertise "Unlimited" for a service that is severely limited. Stay away if you are using at a fixed location. Good for people who are on the road and are needing a faster speed where ever they are traveling. member for 14.7 years, 1348 visits, last login: 8.6 years ago updated 14 years ago
I have had a lot of problems getting and keeping a connection. But when I do have a connection, at it's worst, it is comparable to dialup. At it's best, it is amazing. And as an average, it is about 20 times as fast as dialup. To be fair, I am in a fringe area. And they HAVE been responsive to any technical assistance requests I have made. They have even replaced the modem... Twice. With absolutely no fuss. (I finally have a brand new one, instead of factory refurbished, second-hand. And it does seem to be working well.) This review would not be complete without acknowledging the fact that, without the help of the people from 3GStore.com, I would not be able to get any signal at all, and would not even BE a Verizon wireless broadband customer. member for 22.4 years, 671 visits, last login: 10 years ago lodged 14.1 years ago
have a usb760 and a Cradlepoint router. was getting average 1.5 down and .50 up and was happy. one day a few weeks ago download dropped to .20 average. up still good. tech had no idea what to do for me. getting 4 solid bars signal, nothing was touched ...just slowed down overnight. will cancel my verizon account this fall and switch to at&t member for 14.1 years, 1 visits, last login: 14.1 years ago updated 14.1 years ago
I've had Verizon mobile broadband for several months now. The service is excellant and the speeds pretty fast. 1.5mbps down seems to be average 500mb+ upstream.. With that being said i never had a clue how much broadband i consumed montly. I do know i'm not a bandwidth hog. I don't watch movies online and i may stream some radio occasionally but not every day. I push the cap limits of what i do every month at home on my MIFI. Yeah you know the wireless hotspot capable of up to 5 connections at once. What was Verizon thinking. 1 connection a month could easily kill this amount of data off in a week or two if you were scruptulously monitering useage. Had i knew how small that 5GB of data was i would NOT of subscribed to Verizon Wireless Mobile Broadband. I would of went with somebody like Millenicom or Data Jack who are unlimited. I can't imagine a family trying to get buy on it. You would have overage fees into oblivion. In summary if your a rural living American who has not other option then wireless broadband then well go for it as it surely beats dial up speeds and forget sattelite . If you do have access to wired then i would choose that avenue. I wouldn't even subscribe to any contracted wireless plan phone/computer, data, etc etc at all with all the cheap prepaid options out there. I would not recommend this company to anybody with all the other options out there currently. Good day! member for 14.2 years, 1 visits, last login: 14.1 years ago updated 14.2 years ago
