I too am a former Sunrocket refugee. I immediately switched to voipyourlife (now VYL). This was in 2007 (now 2012). I haven't looked back. I have called customer service once or twice during a move to update the 911 address, and promptly got a helpful native English speaker. Other than that, it just works, and I don't think about it. I suppose there are cheaper options out there now, but it's cheap enough I see no reason to mess with a good thing.

Did have a good tech team and responsive representatives.
Average to poor call quality, massive server problems lead to poor or no service.
Was OK back in 2003. Had cheap service with some probs. But probs just increased over the years. 11-27-2011 servers are down.

In 2003 when I started with VoipYourLife which became VYL Media then became 1-Voip.com as of it was OK. It had some rough edges but was inexpensive and had a responsive Service/Support team. Over the past four years this has changed drastically. The price of the service has been pushed up by new fees, taxes, and surcharges over the past 3 - 4 years. In contrast the service has gone from acceptable to unreliable to just dead in the water at times. The website which runs off the same server connection suffers the same intermittent problems suggesting this is a problem with a small company running off a single-point connection rather then a redundant connection used by most professional ISPs/Web/Voip Services. In addition Tech support has become less, and less, and now even less available via Phone. With the server down (web and voip) as of 8am Sunday morning 11-27-2011 and so far hasn't been up as of 8:30pm there is little I can see in as far as contacting them (of course assuming their email servers, run on the same connection as their web and voip).

I'm seriously considering trying ViaTalk after some serious reading it looks like ViaTalk which people said sucked 5 - 6 years ago is doing the opposite of VYL/1-Voip and getting better with age. If ViaTalk dose end up better then 1-Voip (VYL/VoipYourLife) then I guess they loss a customer. But if not there is always Vonage. With all the server side problem via VoipYourLife/VYL Media/1-Voip over the past 2-3 years, short of a miracle, I can't see sticking with them.

BTW for those into packaged deals I only do Month-Month. If I loose a month ($27) it's not as bad as a year ($149 or so).

When I started out way back the unlimited world package cost as much as the Domestic (US/Canda) cost now. Even at regular rates ViaTalks $22 per month is far more cost effective.

Beware of Fake Reviews

This feedback is made up because 1-VoIP doesn't offer contracts. The network is also made up of several data centers throughout the U.S. 1-VoIP also offers 24/7 customer support. Fake review! Beware.

I switched from Sunrocket to VYL and everything worked great. DirecTivo and the FAX machine worked about 90%.

The only reason I switched was for price. I purchased a SPA2102 and SPA3102 and went with two BYOD providers.

If you want service that works and you don't have to give it a second thought, VYL is for you.

After having Vonage for 2 years i got bored of it, i don't know why. So i went looking for a new voip provider. I considered Packet 8 and Tomato Vine, but i came across a little company with only 5 reviews on this site, all were very positive. One Review said they had no automated answering service, they got a operator right away, and One even said that customer service called them to see if everything was ok with the service.

Now That was somthing out of a 50's movie, not real life. But it all came true. I signed up (dollar cheaper than Vonage for the unlimited US CANADA PACKAGE ) Got the equipment from DHL. Set it up in two steps. Got a call from customer service seeing if everything was ok with the service. Besides POTS Quality, great customer service, free 411, unlimited Virtual Numbers, and free wake up calls, they have a user forum. When ever i have a problem, a crazy question, or even a suggestion i go to the forums and there guru Allen will answer it for you no matter what it is. And he will continue helping you until the problem is fixed.

In My Opinion One Of The Best Company's in America. Give Them a shot if your tired with plain old service. Your Special you deserve Voip Your Life.

When I finally was able to confirm from AT&T that I could get standalone DSL, I called VoipYourLife and set up an account. I used a Linksys PAP2 that I had lying around for my device and was able to make and receive calls immediately. The call quality is near perfect, even when calling areas of the country that still have analog phone service. There are no echoes or static, and I haven't had a call dropped yet. I've only had one call that dropped the voice for about six seconds, but then returned with no further problems.

I've tested a number of VoIP solutions so far, including MagicJack and ViaTalk. Trying to get support with the MagicJack is impossible, and I have a bad taste in my mouth from ViaTalk because of some of their practices. So far, VoipYourLife has worked well for me, and I can get the support I need when I need it.

Cost, Sound quality, Ease of use, Features included, US tech-support...
Customer backend takes some learning (5-10 min. tops), ATA doesn't play well with ISP.
Reccomended over any other service I have looked at or used.

The services I get from »www.voipyourlife.com are numerous, all the bells and whistles like caller ID, voice-mail (even a copy sent to your email), call waiting, blacklists, a follow mode (can ring your cell if you aren't home), filter lists, call forwarding, two additional virtual numbers and more for only $27.47 a month.

I wasn't expecting quite so much when I signed up with them about a year ago. I have had no problems with them at all.

They are based in Oklahoma City with tech-support in Boston, so speaking to a tech if you need to isn't as difficult as some tech-support is. They are courteous and good listeners, meaning you only have to answer/ask a question one time.

I was able to use the service right away via a software phone (x-lite) and the staff on the sales line even walked me through setting it up (sales staff that knows about a product was a definite plus). If you are curious how it sounds simply call them up, their business is using the services they sell.

Definitely worth a try and with free analog telephone adapter (even shipped at no cost) and no contracts to sign, there is nothing to lose.

Although the user back-end of the website is a bit clunky you can get the hang of it fairly quick and most of the services features can easily be activated from it even if you aren't at home. Also if you install the software phone to a portable drive you can get your calls from any capable computer.

The only thing I have any real complaint about is the Linksys ATA that they use doesn't play well with my ISP (although I have confirmed it is the ISP's fault). Since the ATA problem is fixable with a router or by using the software phone this is not a real big deal to me.

I highly recommend their services over other land-line and VOIP services.

I looked at Vonage, Packet8 and many other reviews. It seems that Vonage and Packet8's call quality and support has gone down in recent times.

Voipyourlife is out of Oklahoma City and all tech support are employees here in the U.S.

The sent my VoIP adapter (Linksys SPA2102) within 48 hours and I had service within an hour of installing it.

Tech support is better if you call during normal business hours. There is help at night, but they are more limited on answering advanced questions.

I did test my DSL line first to see if it was suitable with:
»voipreview.org/voipspeed ··· ter.aspx
The results stated it was solid line for VoIP.

I put VoIP adapter behind my router/firewall. Works fine that way.

Also put your modem, VoIP adapter and cordless phone on your UPS to protect equipment from surges and power outages. (you'll have no services without power)

I have heard that there may be some delays on porting your number or getting your name on caller ID. Other than that, I don't think you can go wrong.

Only $28 a month for unlimited local and long distance. The sound quality is great, it is just like a normal pots phone line. If you have to call customer service you get a live person, no automated junk. The webportal could be a bit better but it suits my needs quite well.

They are now putting names on the caller id instead of just numbers. It took them a while but i could live with just the number showing up.

Porting Problems - VoipyourLife No Help

I am disgusted with both VOIPYOURLIFE and AT&T. I signed up for VYL in July. VYL has still not finished porting my old number from AT&T, only sends form responses, gives me inaccurate instructions, takes its time sending requests over to AT&T so they time out. VYL told me to disconnect "Ringmate" service, which I did, on the grounds that AT&T declined to transfer over my associated number. then AT&T tells me that it has NO PROBLEM transferring what it calls "RingMaster" (its tradename for "RingMate") numbers because it routinely ports them in. But now it can't because I disconnected the RingMaster as VYL told me AT&T was requiring. This was after several months of other excuses why AT&T would not port. So now, I'm paying VYL and AT&T for service, because VYL tells me not to disconnect AT&T until the porting is finished. AT&T points the finger at VYL and VYL points it at AT&T. At this point, it appears that neither really gives a damn about the consumer. So I am contacting the FCC, my legislative representatives and my state consumer protection department. I will most likely now have to drop landline service altogether and rely on wireless, but I will make them both pay counsel to defend a lawsuit in local court - even if they win, it will cost them a chunk of change.

Re: Porting Problems - VoipyourLife No Help

Sorry to hear your port was not a smooth one. I had my number ported over from Packet8 to VYL, and it took roughly 10 days for it to complete.

One email that the port request was received. And one last email confirming the port was completed.

Our Buddhist temple uses VYL's Premier Global Unlimited for $29.97 a month. The monthly bill also includes fees like 911 Surcharge of $1.68 and Fed USF of $2.28.

We are an ex-Sunrocket refugee who needed replacement service fast. Account set up required a $19.95 fee and the shipping of the adapter was not free. But maybe an honest (relatively speaking) merchant with a sustainable pricing structure will last longer. So right off the bat, we were not looking for the cheapest deal out there.

Service connects right out of the box. We have Veriozn Fios using the Actiontec MI424WR. But the adapters started to reboot itself every few seconds. I noticed the unit had scuff marks and a round blue sticker on the back. Called VYL and rep (Justin) was surprised a blue stickered unit was sent out. Justin said that _usually_ indicates a bad adapter. Justin still insisted going through his troubleshooting steps. After all fails, he apologized and overnighted a brand new one to me.

The voice quality was choppy at the beginning. The VoIP test (www.voipqualitytest.com) showed a 24.3 jitter from us to VYL. The Quality of Service was 66%. The test also gave a 3.9 MOS score. After sending the results to VYL, they sent over some performance adjustments to the adapter. Voice quality is much better now. However I haven't gone back to voipqualitytest.com to retest.

Tech support is awesome. I have never gotten a live person within 3 rings, let alone someone who could actually solve my problem without any phone menu at all. But that's what I have consistently experienced at VYL. I actually stuttered the first time I got someone to answer my call with just half a ring! There are times when the call volume is heavy and you still have to wait. But the wait is still short compared to other companies I have dealt with. Maybe some of you are thinking that indicates the company doesn't have many customers yet. Well..I'll give you that. I guess time will tell.

One thing that still make me chuckle is VYL guys don't read you the end-of-call crap (Is there something else I can help you with? Thank you for calling...Blah Blah Blah) when your problem is fixed. And we have been conditioned to wait for that script. But with VYL guys there's just the simply "good-bye" and one time I actually said "alright man..talk to you later." That pause before hanging up was awkward at first. But now I'm really enjoying the fresh approach.

The web site is really basic. But it has all the features there. Is a better-looking web site important? I think it would be nice to have. But I wouldn't trade that for longer lasting service and a more sure footed pace for business growth.

Keep up the good work VoipYourLife! I hope to stay with you for the years to come.

*Change log*

- Days from order to live: changed from 10 to 4. 10 days included wait on my end for Veriozn Fios to be installed.
