Very happy with phone service and installation. I found that the caller ID is out of date because of the data base they subscribe to. Service included a free RCA modem with battery backup built in.

The $25 advertised price is a lie. First of all there is a $6 per month line charge. Then add in the 911 charge and taxes and you are over $37, about 50% more than advertised. I'm in the process of switching to CityNet.

Now using "Ooma" with excellent results.

    My Other Reviews·Vonage
I have had the service for a little while now after switching from Vonage. Very much like having a normal phone service from ATT or another company.

"Better Deal Than BellSouth"

My pet peeve with InsightPhone is that you have to dial any outgoing phone number very quickly -- if you are dialing an unfamiliar number that you need to look at the number, especially one where you have to translate letters into keys, InsightPhone will time out before you finish dialing the number.

One other inconvenience is that during a power failure, the battery in the phone modem will go dead, cutting off service. This is true of all the cable telephone services and is something customers must take into consideration. The annoying thing about InsightPhone is that when this happens the error message people get if they try to call you says that your phone number has been disconnected, which is not true. It would not take any great effort on their part to provide a more accurate error message such as "This customer's telephone service is temporarily unavailable" instead of saying the number has been disconnected.

"So far, cheap and reliable."

    My Other Reviews·Insight Communicat..
Just got Insight's VoIP service. I switched from Windstream's standard phone service. Windstream was costing me $55/month. Insight's phone service cost $25/month. No brainer there. Another thing is that the services that came with Insight's phone actually work. I had been a loyal Windstream user for several years now (only because I had no choices), but some of their addition services weren't available in my area. Things like voice mail. I'll update in a couple of months if I get any hiccups.

    My Other Reviews·VOIPo
    ·ViaTalk
    ·Insight Communicat..
I was very pleased to hear that the quality of the conversations is just like a traditional land line from AT&T. My primary reason for switching to Insight Phone was due to lack of e911 support from Viatalk (no information showed up when calling 911).

Although, after having Insight Phone for just 4 weeks, I switched back to Viatalk. It seems that Insight had given me a number that had recently been terminated by a customer who was being hounded by debt collectors. Since I now had that number, I was getting all the calls. Insight only allows for 10 numbers to be blocked, and there many, many more than that calling. They also could not fix my caller ID to show my name/address. After calling 2 times a week for 4 weeks, I gave up on them ever fixing my caller ID. Test calls to 911 revealed that the former customer's name/address was showing up - not mine, rendering 911 useless - about the same as with VOIP. If they can't fix something as simple as caller ID, I was not comfortable with them being able to fix bigger problems.

So, since VOIP was cheaper ($14) than Insight ($26) and had more features, VOIP won, and I canceled Insight Phone.

It is not available it Radcliff, KY, and that is a shame. This is a one horse town for phone service and I would sure like the alternative. Insight doesn't have a problem advertising it here, but has no disclaimer whatsoever that it isn't even available, and that's a shame

I ordered two phone lines with Insight. They sent a tech out to exchange my old modem to the new one for the phone lines. The tech took all of like 10 minutes since all he had to do was swap the modem out and test the lines. The call quality was great, and the service was reliable. I was kind of shocked when I got the first bill, and I was charged $20+ in taxes. I had used other VOIP providers before and wasn’t billed nowhere near that amount of taxes. I ended up using Insights Phone service for about 2 months and decided I really didn’t need it anymore since I was using my cell phone for everything, but faxing which I can live without.

My recommendation is if you’re going to use the phone often itll be worth it.
