Its a good provider in terms of service and customer attention. Though since their ain't any competition around the area, they snob up. Currently paying minimum of $65 a month for ridiculous 10/1 speeds. Completely asymmetrical. The up-time depending the wiring in my location has given about 90% connectivity, though in an unexpected time, it would dropout, typical reasons such as the infamous signal to noise ratio coaxial cable carries which happens around 11pm, not as bad as if it were during the day. Though price is completely not up for it and recently, Qwest in my area has installed new Fiber for up to 40/20 VDSL2 speeds for about the same price as I am currently paying. Another thing is, DOCSIS 3.0? There hasn't been any plans to upgrade in their side and that is quite disappointing. Qwest would probably step up in this area

I am 62 years old and have many service providers; NPG is by far the worst service that I have ever had. I am also a computer service technician and retired Electrical Engineer so I know this business well. I have been BS'd by this company to my absolute limits; their cable internet system is substandard by any measure. I have had a multitude of service calls into them and it is always the same old story; a bunch of lies. Unfortunately for them they don't realize who they are dealing with. I see through their lies because I know more about the system then they do. They boast super fast internet even in their recordings while I am on hold; it is hard to listen to all their lies while holding. They boast of high speed better then DSL, while not telling you that they can't even produce the low DSL levels during peak hours of usage. I just got through taking data side by side at the same instant to avoid any misconception with time variance. After several Ping tests at pingtest.net NPG failed every time. NPG gets a constant "D" rating on ping test where Qwest DSL gets a consistent "B" rating. I did this because my Hulu and Netflix has rebooted for buffering at least 10 times every evening; keep in mind that my test was done comparing NPG which claims 6 Mbs download while DSL is only 1.5 Mbs max. I watched a complete movie on Qwest DSL without a bump in quality and NO re-buffering at all. To sum this up Qwest DSL rated at only1.5 in my area runs circles around NPG cable which lies about their service providing 6 Mbs.
The only place that I can measure even close to 6 Mbs in their local hub which actually is a joke and means nothing because all the places that you need to connect to are snail slow and very erratic. Ping test tells the whole story, don't be fooled by lies that Cable internet is better than DSL; it is all a very crude marketing scam. I am dumping them tomorrow and going back to Qwest. Hopefully Qwest will get a higher speed in my area soon; I hope they eat NPG alive; I am totally discusted with companies like NPG. They should be able to be prosecuted for misrepresentation of their service.

 | | | Utterly Disgusted with quality of service We have the cheeta priority 10meg service in the cottonwood area ,arizona. When we 1st got this 10 meg service abt a yr ago, it actually Did get abt 9.75 megs consistantly during all hrs of the day.But within last few months there has been lower and lower speeds during prime usage hrs, especially at evenings after 5pm till midnite.Speeds will drop to 1 or 2 megs! I cant even stream a low res video on youtube without buffering.I used to be able to watch 1080p streams no problem at all at any time of day.Calls to tech support have yeilded Nothing and proven a total waste of countless hrs of my personal time. They will hv you speedtest ur machine at thier website using their local server in the town next to mine and of course the speeds seem ok, yet if you use Any other server in any other town or state the speeds are as ive stated,1 or 2 megs and ping times pushing 500ms or more! They dont want to admit there is a problem at the lower tech levels, and unless you Are ur self capable of talking on a high level of tech knowledge ,they will try to bully the customer into accepting what they have Diagnosed, or that it is Ur equipment, or the Weather, or all in ur head. IF u Can talk tech with these people, they Will indeed confess that there is a problem, they Are aware of it,and it has to do with not enough bandwidth to sustain the more and more customers they are sellling to.Adding more HD channels and having gamers ,downloaders, and tv streamers now using an antiquated microwave system, yet NOT wanting to spend the cost of upgrading to fiberoptics...they continue to limp along into the 21st century with flintstones technology.ITs COST, and GREED..it Could be fixed but customer satisfaction and Excelle nce is NOT their priority.. instead of calling it Cheeta priority why not call it GREED Priority!! IF their hillbilly outfit had competition, this would be addressed in short order but where are we to turn? DSL in cottonwood az is 1.5megs,and is even worse.Prices for their abysmal service is wayy too high for the speed or lack thereoff. we hoped for a nother company to buy them out, so what will this Suddenlink buyer do? sooner or later this company will start losing their customer base as prices climb and the dissfaction with dropping speeds gets critical mass. Why not strive for Excellence? and truly happy customers? | |
| Jinaka join:2011-02-24 Bullhead City, AZ | N.P.G I agree with the O.P I am a former Tech for Wave in Oregon ...after being transplanted to A.Z recently I have to say that their Techs have abselutly no idea. In addition when you call the service department you get the same 'ol runaround. Their equipment is old and needs upgrading in a bad way. Hopefully the fact that they were recently aquired by another cable company will improve the service quality. Its another stab in the eye that Frontier 's DSL wont work on my line because of noise as well, so I have no other route to go. | |

paying 50$ for 1.5 down and 512 up, cable is the only option next to DSL but DSL is all sold out and can't open up a line unless someone cancels. The order and install was easy enough but still not worth my time and money. the Motorola SBG900 is the modem that is supplied and its not really very good at all. cable outages town wide suck and it happens alot (i work for a tech company in town).
