Good Points
I have used Webmasters.com for 3 years now, I have thirty clients that are hosted with webmasters.com. Over the years I have noticed a degradation of the quality of service that they provide. At first I really liked their service, you get allot for the money. 100gb of space, 1000 GB/month transfers, 100 add on domains, and 300 mysql databases are just some of the features they offer. Set up was easy, I submitted a credit card and paid for the services online. 24 hours later I was able to login into their control panel and start setting up my domains. Setup is easy through their web administration interface and have never had a problem with it.
Bad Points
In the last year or two I have seen them roll out changes to their services without warning that ended up disrupting our websites that cost business for me and my clients. One particular change was an upgrade of PHP from 4.0 to 5.0, this was done without any warning to their customers and it ended up breaking a few of my clients websites that cost me time and my clients money to fix the problem. Had I known ahead of time, I could have made arrangements to make changes to my own code to make it compatible with PHP 5.0 before hand. And the second one really tops the cake, just recently, the implemented a change to mail delivery without any prior notice what so ever. They have been having trouble with their customers forwarding email off-site to other public email accounts such as gmail and MSN. Webmasters.com put in place a filter system that silently holds all mail until a verification email gets sent to the sender, requiring them to confirm that the email is in fact legitimate once that is done mail can be delivered normally. This happened for about two days and during that time I was not receiving important communications. The only way I knew about what was happening was finally one of my clients contacted me by phone and let me know that their mail was being rejected by my server. When I called Webmasters on this they informed me that the made a policy change because of Spam issues. When I asked why they didn't notify their customers of this change ahead of time the mentioned that they updated the customers control panel warning the customers on the day the change happened. I informed them that notifying people of changes the day of making the change is not acceptable. The asked me to send an email to senior management about this and so far my calls and emails have gone unanswered.
I have been in the website business for about 12 years now and one of the things that is completely unforgivable is for a hosting provider to make changes to services that effect customers without notice. Webmasters does this and that is why I am now recommending to my local technical community not to use their services.
I'm an avid believer of free speech which is another reason why I went with their services. Their policy suggested that they take free speech seriously, But then they changed their policy to mention that the have to right to disconnect service without warning and without notice for any reason what so ever. I had a few email correspondence with them about what would constitute disconnection of service and they informed me that if they receive pressure from their upstream provider they would disconnect anyones service without warning. they made no mention of what or if they had any processes they go though before disconnecting someones service, if there was in fact a complaint related to speech on a website Webmasters was hosting.
Its important for ISP's and Hosting providers to clearly state what kind of safeguards that put in place to protect their customers of meritless complaints regardless of what kind of pressure they get from external sources. I plan on moving all of my clients and my websites over to a new hosting provider in the next 90 days, as soon as I can find one that has better standards then Webmasters.com

| webmasters.com sucks my left ball !!! Their mickey mouse of a corporation has got to be the worse excuse for a world-class, hosting provider ever. Our company has been up and running since March 31, 2008 with a substantiated web hosting provider, and we have yet to hear a single word from the faceless morons @ webmasters.com regarding our account activation. Since all of the quasi executives @ websuck.com refuse to lay claim to their over-priced, crappy-ass product and services, I truly believe that it's no coincidence that the names of each key principals of this establishment remain anonymous. I guess if I were one of these phantom executives I wouldn't want to admit to the fact that I manage an amateur corporation like netuna either. In fact, my colleagues and I had food shooting out of our noses from laughing so hard when we learned that their parent company was purportedly a 'privately held capital venture firm.' Industry owners commonly present their business model to prospective clients by identifying certain attributes of their business, so its not typically peculiar that the folks @ webmasters would elect to do this. However, I don't think the simple act of generating new domain names and including it in ones portfolio of subsidiaries constitute an entitlement to be characterized as a capital investment firm. LMAO Anyhow, if there were any such thing as a 'blessing in disguise,' this certainly would be it because their inept handling of my account has led me to a more legitimate, professional corporation. | |

"Easy billing, tons of customizations and control, can link all your accounts together"
"Some of the auto-installer items are older version, if you don't know how to start a site prepare for some reading"
"If you want a blank slate webhost with tons of control, go with Webmasters.com"

I was happily using Powweb.com til the management was purchased by another company. It quickly went downhill.
I asked a friend what web host he was using cause the site was always up and fast, and we told me webmasters.com
From that point on I never looked at another company.
I don't use tons of bandwidth or needs lots of storage space, but Webmasters.com does offer a large amount for the price. They're very straight forward with what they offer.
I was already experienced in settings up CMS's and manage directories and things like that. So it was easy for me to transfer my sites.
However if you're new to having your own site, prepare for lots of reading as they aren't there to hold your hand. They do offer auto-install scripts for those less inclined to actually do the install.
