"Steady download at 6MB awesome 3MB upload....."
"Uses packet shaping and throttles ports on known ptp programs. Had to really push support to get the truth. Locally owned."
"Terrible tech support and dishonesty about throttling an packet shaping. Only provider except for dsl at 1.5 down"

Only other option in area is windstream dsl and at my location it is only 1.5MB down. Limestone Cable is a locally owned company and therefore does not do upgrades on speed and hardware very often. I doubt there will be a download speed change anytime soon. I know that the upload is good but I would definitely take a hit on upload for better download. Terayon modems are used and I think a bit outdated and any that I have spoken too on the outskirts of town suffer big performance drops. I dont think it is fair for an ISP to throttle ports or use packet snooping or shaping when you pay for the bandwidth to do as you please. It is almost like a F.A.P limit but you arent told about it . It should be public knowledge or in the contract. It is not our fault as consumers that an ISP cant afford more bandwidth and hardware. Hope more options come soon for me.

I moved to Maysville, KY back in mid-October, and I got Limestone/Bracken Cablevision in early November. At first, I had a bad modem and I would rarely stay connected for 5 mins, at which point, it would disconnect and refuse to reconnect for 3 hours. I changed modems, which gave me stability, but in the evenings, speeds would drop from the package speed of 6000/1200 down to 800/150 or worse and pings would jump into the 200-300ms range. After about 3 weeks of this, I went to the online tech support and complained. I had done a tracert of the lines and it appeared it was my provider, so I went to them with this information, after about an hour of talking with supervisors and such, they discovered it was a Sprint router and said they would contact Sprint. Since then, things have been fine, my speed rarely drops below 5000/1000 and my pings stay around 50ms.
Overall, pretty good considering the options in this rural town of 9000. I do miss powerboost from Comcast though.
