2006 and 2007 were great. No problems. 2008, 2009, 2010? 32 days with problems. That comes out to one problem ever 34 days. That is the highest rate of problems I've ever had. I can barely go a month or two without having to call them to fix my line.
And then in 2011, the billing issues began. My billing service is partially responsible for screwing things up. But then we got double bills. Then we accidentally paid one. Then I asked for a billing inquiry.
Did I get a response? Yes. I got a response telling me they'd send me the billing report.
It never came.
I sent more emails.
I sent more.
And more.
It's now been almost 2 weeks. I am just asking for a simple billing report. This is a reasonable request.
I even tried calling their billing department, and there was no answer!
Oh, did I ever mention that even though they advertise 24/7 tech support, that if you call in the middle of the night sometimes nobody answers?
These guys are friendly, competent, and courteous. They just aren't providing good support for their customers. The choice is yours.

This review is about Silicon Connections. During the past two years that I have had their service, I have had nothing but problems and disappointments. While initially the service worked as intended, it has actually gotten worse over the course of our subscription! Customer support at their office has been non-existent, and when we could get someone on the phone they were either rude, incompetent, or had to 'call us back' to figure out the most basic problems.
The installation itself was a billing nightmare, with our account being charged incorrectly on several occasions and even being double-billed! Suffice it to say, correcting these problems was equally frustrating with the current lack of customer service. Recently, a newly hired computer technician at our office did some speed tests on the line and we discovered we have been paying above-market rate for below-market speeds! Their pricing has been outrageous, and they willfully ripped us off for goodness knows how long.
While we had initially signed up for a DSL and Hosting package, it became abundantly clear that their service was more interested in collecting a payment than in delivering quality service. Our email account was actually limited to 100 mb of storage space! That amount of space is RIDICULOUS in this day and age, and we had to fight several times to get them to drop specious 'usage charges' for going over on our inbox! This billing practice is not only dishonest, but highly irritating as well. Then, when we tried to move domains to a much more modern host, we actually had to fight with them AGAIN to release all the appropriate DNS records. I was appalled.
It is apparent from my dealings with their company that they are neither honest, reliable, or professional - and that others should stay away from this backwater operation at all costs. I wont denigrate myself by naming names, but the owners of this operation should be ashamed of the shady business they run! Thank goodness I
am switching ISPs.

I guess when people say, each experience can be VERY different, they are speaking of times like these! My experience with Silicon Connections, LLC. has always been extremely pleasant and is more like Sabutai than dgouty. My experience during the last 2 years with Silcon has been consistent. When I think of the # of
complications that I have encountered with Silicon Connections, in comparison to the horror stories that can potentially occur, I feel fortunate. When I have had technical difficulties, I have found Silicon to be VERY responsive and thorough. During my two year relationship, I have only experienced two clerical/accounting errors and they were resolved promptly.
In my opinion, it is not the # of employees that make/break a company, but how the company handles its clients. I would rather have facts stated regarding the company and its service, instead I was held privy to stats on the personnel department. Customer service is essential for success!!! My overall rating for this company is ABOVE AVERAGE. I feel that Silicon is a great dependable option for DSL service and will continue to recommend this DSL company to my friends.

Where to start with this long saga... I don't ususally make these reviews if my experience with someone is average... Not worth the time. But here I will make an exception.
I am still trying to get a Dry DSL line through COVAD working through Silicon Connections. Lets see. Placed my order... SBC showed up with bells on to check my circuit and even repaired crossed pairs before the Covad guy showed up. Suprisingly SBC was the smoothest part of the installation. So the Covad guy showed up and hooked up the box, an entirly un-necessary expense for me but that is the way that they do it. Prior to him showing up I asked for information on my block of static IPs and info on how to set up my CPE as a bridge. The customer support person there had no idea what I was talking about and only turned up part of the information that I asked for after much prompting. No IP info though. It turns out that I was not ordered for static IPs and got static. I called their tech support department.... BIG MISTAKE.... DONT TALK to their level 1 people. They are at an outsourced call center and don't have a clue. They even seem to have a seperate trouble ticketing system from the Silicon Connections people and the two don't know what each other is doing. So I got the IPs and spent several days trying to get it to work. I asked for all kinds of help from them and got little response. I walked the level 2 person there through things and figured out that I had the wrong IP address block. Sounds firmular like another review in here. Got the right IPs and still nothing would work. SC didn't know how to set up my CPE and finally got someone from Covad on the phone who answered a couple of questions for me and got it going. This took almost two weeks. So by new years it was kind of working. I have since discovered that their is a routing problem with my connection through Covad. I have worked with them directly for almost two weeks now convinceing them that their was a problem. Initially I started working with the SC person but I could tell that would be a waste of my time. It takes FOREVER for the SC people to get the covad people to do anything. MUCH longer than any other provider that I have had. I waited for 2 days for new IPs the first time. I have waited a day and a half to get my connection re homed and nothing yet. I have never felt this level of fustration with a provider before, I have had probably 4 different providers over the past 6 years. A couple such as northpoint went out of business. Switched from Speakeasy to Cyberonic BC Speakeasy was WAY too expensive. Switching from Cyberonic to Silicon Connections due to poor customer service and wanting Dry DSL. Cyberonic did have good tech support though. I am going to drop Silicon Connections unless things get figured out soon...
Doug
I have dealt with some business that seemed shady before but this company takes the cake. I ended up canceling the serivce with them. I was never able to get it to work right even though I work hard with Covad on it. They keep sending me bills of various amounts, keep trying to get me to forward a covad rebate check to them, and are billing me for something that never worked.
ALSO... I checked on this "ISP of the Year" thing that they claim. It is fradulent!!! It is an advertisement package that they have purchased and not really a review.

I have been using Silicon Connections now for a few months. First as an alternative to SBC for the office I worked in, then for my own business and also for my home. Part of my business involves web design and I have to say that I have called on Silicon Connections to take care of the web hosting for all of my clients and have never once experienced anything but prompt, professional service. So much so, that when I decided to leave Earthlink, I called on them yet again to take care of my home needs. I have personally spoken to the President of the company, the Director of Sales, the Tech support coordinator and they have all been professional, friendly and have answered all of my questions and provided me with excellent service. I simply have had (and continue to have) very positive experiences with Silicon Connections

Contract price not specified. "The Customer Service Rep is polite. Yeah, there's only ONE, though." "HORRIBLE Tech Support, billing is arbitrary, no value for the high cost of service" "Run, don't walk, away."

I used SilCon for almost two years. During that time, they billed my bank account directly even after asking them not to SEVERAL times and that wreaked havoc on my banking. Their response was basically 'Oops, sorry.'
There is one... ONE customer service rep. She also handles all the billing. Basicaly, she does everything, it seems, so she's stretched pretty thin, time-wise. She's polite enough and relatively responsive and that's a great improvement from the last CSR. The trouble is, though, she's the only support you'll get. There is no tech support to speak of. I'm not kidding. Their's was the worst tech support I've ever encountered.
The cost of their service was way too high, too. I had a 768/384 connection (which NEVER got higher than 500Kbps!) with a static IP and paid more than $100 per month for it! And when I did get billed (direct debit to me account, even though I asked them NOT to and even though the constantly told me they wouldn't) it would be on diffeent days each month. "Oh, hey, look, I'm missing $100! Oh, that's just SilCon...'
Bottom line: Expensive, terrible customer service and tech support, and a lame connection.

"Great customer service, they were the only ISP that would actually take a DSL order for a non-SBC phone customer." "None so far." "Good price for a great service (768up/1.5dn with static IPs) . Offers un-bundled DSL, no SBC phone line needed!"

Super fast 768k up/1.5M down, no problems encountered since install. Only issue during install was identification of the un-labeled wire from SBC (local phone carrier). Install tech from Covad was courteous and helpful and put in the extra effort to track down the correct wire pair containing the DSL circuit (poor labeling by SBC). He even had my static IP block information. Sales representatives were very helpful through the ordering process. Billing has been a breeze with charges being sent directly to my credit card. The install refund even arrived a month early!!

Shopped around and found Silicon on dslreports.com. In the begining had some problems getting me emails returned but found someone there who helped me and has been there if i needed ever since....installation had problems but this was not the fault of Silicon, it was the local telco's problem. So i can say that silicon's installation was great. the dsl service has been great, no down times except planned. basically rock solid. In fact i have so pleased with silicon i have setup two of my clients with dsl service from silicon connections.

Well, I've actually had them for over 1 year and closing on 2 years now. Though in the last 6 months I've various indivuals stomp on my static ips. The second time around, I actually got to talk to the senior network tech and he gave me the impression that he actually knew what he was doing. The only problem is the ethernet segment I'm on has a router controlled by their upstream provider. It seems everytime I have a need to make a call for something, somebody up stream of me starts throttling my line way below what I am paying for and it takes repeated calls to fix (this may also be happening at the telco, unsure exactly where). I can't say that I recommend them to anyone else, but I also don't think they are doing a terrible job. They are just barely doing an ok job.
I think my CLEC is currently Covad, but I'm not sure as they changed providers not too long ago.
