I called today to activate a service and submit a port request to transfer my number.
My phone call to Voipgo was answered promptly and the service rep Michelle was super efficient, friendly, and accurate. She reviewed my online order...corrected a few of my entry mistakes, and had it processed in under an hour. I was also in a rush to get my port request in, which she managed to respond to immediately, and also followed up with me by phone. Based on this experience Voipgo gets my A+ for customer service !
I did use Voipgo in 2008 to 2010 for a line (that eventually I didn't need), and I know the phone service itself always worked great. The line features are better than most other voip providers, and the international rates are as well. I especially like the "call hunting" option available with Voipgo as I set my home number to ring simultaneously to my cell phone, so I can actually answer most calls and avoid voicemail.
I am a minor geek, and setup phone adapters for my friends and family and have tried out lots of providers over the years. I'm really pleased that Voipgo's improved on their customer service as it was rather touchy a few years back. By the way, I'd guess that Michelle was physically located in Canada and spoke English like u and me, which is far superior to what other voip companies provide. (lets support Canadian companies who hire Canadians!!)
The reality is that once your phone is setup, there is little need to call customer service anyway !! I would recommend this Canadian company who has been in business for many years.

about 7 days "good voice quality with ATA unit, tons of included features including follow me, cheap, virtual phone numbers" "will not work with data/fax transmissions" "great alternative for landline if you have a high quality internet connection"

I have been testing this service for 2 months as I am sick of my highpriced Bell landline and their poor customer service. I switched back to Videotron cable internet from Teksavvy DSL (again because of Bell) and now have a 30meg service. I also bought a Netgear WNDR3700 Wireless N Dual band gigabit router which works outstanding with the Videotron service. The order from voipgo.ca was fast; they had a 514 local number available (which are now hard to get), and my ATA unit arrived within a couple of days. I was able to start using a softphone the very day I signed up!
Testing with a free softphone was OK as long as you are using a headset. Otherwise you will typically get an echo effect if using a webcam as a microphone. I put down the deposit on a Cisco Linksys SPA2102 ATA unit which works superbly plugged into the Netgear router. I also tried plugging it between the router and the modem but my connection dropped to 7meg so I don't recommend this setup on faster lines. I also took this ATA unit with me at Christmas where I stayed with 2 different family members who had Telus DSL service in Edmonton, AB. I found that the service worked quite well at one house who had a decent connection (>4 meg) but I started experiencing echo and glitches at another house who had a slow DSL connection (~2.1 meg).
The only problem I've had it trying to send data to BBM from my metering modem. It is possible that I need to configure the router to forward specific ports (portforward.com) but I can't find that information on the voipgo website. I will try out their technical support to see if they can help me.
I noticed there was a lot of bad rants about this company but those rants over more than a year old. I definitely recommend giving this company a try if you've got a good quality DSL line or better and you need a cheap alternative to a landline. This is also great who travels a lot and would like local numbers in more than one place.
Can't beat the price $12.49/month if paid by the year (ask for one month free when signing up!)

I signed up with Voipgo back in July 2009 and after three weeks of trying to reach them in regards to setting up the account and getting the device shipped I tried to call and cancel.
When you dial the number you will get a recorded message about how they are going through restructuring and that they will not be taking calls for 2 weeks. The message states that the online chat, e-mail and service ticket are alternative ways to contact them.
After a few more days, now approaching 1 months time, my credit card was charged for two annual subscriptions and the modem. This was AFTER I contacted them via e-mail AND service ticket for a refund.
I contacted my Credit Card company and have tried to contact Voipgo on several occasions since, but they cannot be reached. It took almost two months for my credit card charges to be reversed by the bank.
I can only find it comical that a couple of days ago I received an automated e-mail from VOIPGO that I received a voicemail... It's been over 5 months since I signed up, and I havn't once been able to use the service.
Sadly VoipGo does not reply to email or service tickets, nor do they provide the online chat. There is literally no way to contact them. When you phone the number on the website it takes you to the SAME message that was recorded in August (it is now January), promising support through the website and only a 2 week hold on phone support.
VoipGo is the worst company I have ever encountered. You would be foolish to give them your credit card information. Pass it on!
Brutal!

Beginning of August 09 the phone completely stopped working, no dial tone or anything, i tried everything, resetting both modems, router etc... with no success. i emailed tech support but got no answer. finally a week later i switched to Bell from Videotron and miraculously it started to work again. i tried calling them back as i was annoyed with the lack of response and also with the ongoing problem that when i try to dial certain numbers it simply doesnt work and also when people call me from certain numbers the call doesnt go through. for the past 2 months they have had a message saying they are going through 'restructuring' and will not be taking calls, also i have sent in several support tickets through the website with no answers. my most recent ticket has been to the billing department asking my subscription be cancelled but of course that has been ignored. last week i filed a complaint against them with the better business bureau, so far that has been ignored as well.

I've been with Voipgo for over a 14 months now. Service works great. No problems with call quality. Their only issue is that customer service is difficult to get a hold of at times. As long as my service is working I'm happy and it has been since I got it. Hopefully I won't need help.

VoipGo a company based out of Canada is good. They use level3 for termination and verizon for incoming. No 411 and not as many call features as other providers. But all in all a really good company with a personal touch. Their is nothing to loose when you sign up because their is no activation or termination fees. I would recomend to many.
