After eleven months with Earthlink DSL, the final three of them nightmares with, once, 3 weeks without any connection, a neighbor recommended LA Bridge. From my first phone call I was treated like a human being and a valuable potential customer. They are also a socially responsible company. I signed up immediately. Because of the long wait period between DSL providers (disconnecting and and connecting another is at least 3 weeks) Dee at LA Bridge talked me through exactly what information to get from Earthlink to facilitate this change. Set up was simple. I needed help with one part of setting it up and Brian at LA Bridge was fantastic. He answered the phone when I called! The difference between dealing with Earthlink, a national company with long hold time, surly technical support at best, and bad service in general, and my local company, LA Bridge, is night and day. There is no hold time. If they're on another call, you leave a message and they call you back! I am so happy to have a local company I can rely on.

A few years ago when GTE (now Verizon) told me DSL was available in my neighborhood, I signed up immediately. 2 weeks later I was informed all the DSL circuits were being used and was now unavailable. MacAddict magazine mentioned a web site that listed Mac-friendly isp's and 5 served my area. Only L.A.Bridge was able to connect me. It took 14 days (13 for GTE to build the circuit, 1 for L.A.Bridge to connect me) and it's been trouble free since. There have been a few problems over the years, always relating to my hardware upgrades, but tech support is outstanding and they have always followed up with e-mails inquiring satisfaction. I talk to a human within the first minute when calling, and their techs are very Mac-savvy. They even gave me bonus's for referring 2 friends, who are still with them after 2 years each. I have a static IP setup. When I hooked up two other computers on a passive hub, each was assigned static IP's with no complaint from L.A.Bridge. They cost about $10/month more than competing giant DSL ISP's, but I think the personal attention and Mac-friendly atmosphere deserve high honors.

Having had Internetconnect as my SDSL provider (via a dedicated line, not "alongside" my voice line) for the last 3 years, I have dealt with very competent help that supported Mac but infrequent interrruptions of service that left me looking for other options. In 2000 I had attempted to get GTE/Verizon to install DSL - which after waiting 6 weeks with no connection date in sight, I cancelled and stayed with Internetconnect. In January 2002 I received a notice that Internetconnect was bought out by Covad and I'd need to migrate my DSL service to them. After attempting to do so, I found out they DO NOT SUPPORT Mac. Even If I bought the suggested Mac Poet software, they would still not help me with set up, problems, trouble shooting, etc. On top of that the rates were more than double what I had been paying through Internetconnect. So I began to search around for a new provider.
After reading aboout many providers on DSLReports, I called L.A. Bridge. I spoke with a very helpful woman named Dee. She was able to help me figure out what I needed to do to get service as quickly as possible. She actually got online with me to show me where on EBay I could get the modem I would need and what kind of price I could expect to pay. I ordered service at 1500/128 for $69/month (my previous was 384/384 - but it rarely got close to those numbers- at $59/month)) The biggest problem I faced was trying to get the service on one particular line (line # 2) in my home.
Verizon tested the line and said service was available, but when L.A. Bridge tried to get DSL on that same line, Verizon told them it was not a working number !! Meanwhile, L.A. Bridge went ahead and set up my DSL on line # 1 and a week later it was up and running!! I hooked everything up just as the instructions said & even with my router and LAN I had NO PROBLEMS!!!
During this process I decided to try to get Verizon to hook up DSL on line # 2 - thinking that if they could hook it up I would then cancel the service and have L.A. Bridge hook up the DSL on line # 2. Having placed the order I was then told it would be working in 10 days. The next day I was e-mailed a notice that it would be up two days later. The following day I was told it would be yet another two days later. Finally, five days after having placed the DSL order with Verizon I was told that I could NOT get DSL service now because there "were no more lines available at the CO for DSL."
Since then Dee has been researching getting service on Line # 2 and it looks as though it should happen within the next 2 weeks. I have too many extensions and an alarm system that runs on line # 1 that seem to cause sporadic interference and dropped service. I knew that this would be a problem from the beginning and L.A. Bridge has been nothing but helpful in trying to resolve the issues. The problem has been with Verizon and the lack of knowledge concerning their lines. But it looks as though that will be resolved. I will post an update when that happens.
I have speed tested the line several times and consistently get speeds of 1320-1480/ 124-128. I am so impressed that I could actually get these speeds even with a couple of our computers on line at the same time. The IP is dynamic, which I thought would be a deficit, but it is not. When I have had a question either on the phone or e-mail, the response from L.A. Bridge has been immediate. The support & knowledge of the technicians with both Mac and routers have been extensive. I was a bit hesitant about paying $10 more a month, but the service I have received is truly worth more than that. Helpfulness with a smile is what comes through in all manners of communication with L.A. Bridge. I HIGHLY recommend L.A. Bridge DSL !

After comparing ISPs in Oct 2000, I decided on LABridge.com because they are Mac-friendly and allow static IP. They helped me get set-up, coordinating with Verizon to get me wired up in less than 3 weeks. The only time I had a problem was when my Airport base station was stealing IP leases and not releasing them. They worked with me to get the problem solved. I only wish they had a 800 number. I've always been able to talk to a real tech person and not just a phone droid when having problems.
Update 3/2002: I am a Bronze (bottom end) user. Connecting with DHCP (if I had a second machine, I'd use the static IP for a VPN.) Constantly switching off between Mac OS 9 and Mac OS X with no probs. I still haven't taken full advantage of their web space, so can't comment on that. Although don't have an 800 service #, I can always get help from their web site and email service ticket system within 24 hours. Still get the occasional loss of service 1X month, but only requires power cycling the DSL modem to get reconnected.
Update 4/2002: Last couple of months, I had to use their iPass dial-up service while out of town. They offer 20 hours dial-up per month but only within the service area; otherwise it costs $3.00 per contact!!! :-( Still, it is more flexible than having to hunt down an Internet cafe and pay $1 for 10 minutes.

I'm very satisfied with LA Bridge's DSL service.
I started with DSL service three years ago, February 1999, with Verizon (then called GTE Interactive). The part that is handled by the phone company, from my DSL modem to the "cloud," is done very professionally. As far as I know it has never been down, although during one of the several ISP changes I made they "unintentionally" reset it for a lower class of service and it took weeks of phone calls to get it fixed. However the part from the "cloud" to the Internet, GTE Internet was *bad*. It was down for days at a time and the download rate was poor. They had long-standing DHCP server problems. I finally gave up and changed to a small local ISP, called ICSFM. That was better, but ICSFM went out of the DSL ISP business and LA Bridge took over their accounts.
LA Bridge charges us a premium of a few dollars over what we had been paying to ICSFM. We pay a total of $58.45 per month -- $32.50 to Verizon plus $25.95 to LA Bridge.
Tech support has been excellent, the couple of times we needed it. LA Bridge doesn't have 24x7 coverage, but they are still way ahead of Verizon. There was some downtime a while back -- something about problems in "Los Nettos," wherever that is, but we haven't noticed any downtime for at least a year. Downloads are typically 600 Kb/sec.

I have been using LABridge for a couple of years now, for home and office. The staff, while not on at all hours of the night, is there, and attentive during the hours that I am awake, at least. I have not needed their help much, but when I do they are prompt, courteous, and have never failed to answer a question or solve a problem (usually on my end of the system). I recommend them most highly indeed, I do so regularly to those folks I know who are looking at DSL and to consultants who install systems. You can not do any better than these people do.

I came upon La Bridge while search for a cheap, reliable, and good customer support, I found it with La Bridge. The support staff is educated, i.e. don't sound like 19 yrs who are working their for the summer, and helpful but not their 24/7. The service is rarly down and pretty fast. It's a shame they had to raise thier prices a bit but if you decide on something with the same price compared to La Bridge, go with La Bridge. Gj La Brigde 0wnz kekke

as a "silver" user at la bridge. i am forever indebted to them, not because of the actual service they provide - which at this point seems almost invisible...... but for the incredible level of support and guidance that was provided during the start-up of my account. at the time i signed up at la bridge - i was running macs from multiple locations - and traveling a bit - both for personal and business reasons - and since i was not really that well versed in the TCP protocols - i looked to labridge to give me a general understanding of dsl pros/cons/ and set-up..... tech support guided me to pages on their site - and across the web that specifically explained everything i needed to know about getting started - and then branching out to become as portable and diversified as was necessary when that became an issue..... At that time - i kept pushing my envelope and la bridge was there - within minutes - every step of the way - letting me know what was possible - and the best way to get stuff done - EVEN WHEN IT DIDN'T UTILIZE THEIR SERVICES - and that i guess that is the main reason - i love these guys / gals - they have always seemed to put me first. and for someone who has been dealing with some other online giants for near 10 years - the support at labridge was a breath of fresh air.
These days - all i really need is a basic fast-down connection to the net - that is RELIABLE not - sort-of-reliable - and labridge is pretty much ......it.

I got their service when they first started to offer DSL and I have to say it's always very fast and well worth the money. They are always willing to help me out with any questions I have, such as my e-mail accounts, Web sites and even some specialty programming for my Web site needs, plus they actually take the time to explain to me what the problem was and how to prevent it form happening again. Keep up the good work!

I've had their service for over a year and it's usually very fast for the money I pay. There's cheaper service available from Verizon, but my friends on DSL tell me their customer service sucks. L.A. Bridge has helped me with every problem I've ever had and actually take the time to explain to me what actually was problem, but there's one tech there who always refers any problem I have as a 'Groovy Mystery', whatever THAT means.
