I called them and they showed up promptly. The install guys were knowledgeable and efficient, and, having worked for a few fixed wireless companies, I recognized that they did a good job.

There is a "one size fits all" option for bandwidth that they call "best effort". On the best day (Wednesday night at 2 am) I got 500k + download speeds, and on the worst day I was down to 56k. Upload speeds have consistently been in the 256k range. Latency fluctuates from 56ms to 800ms on a minute by minute basis.

They use Tranzeo radios (which I prefer) and require that you have a UPS / surge protector or purchase one from them. There has been no downtime so far, despite the precarious dips in speed. All in all, it works - but you should take their name literally only in comparison to dialup.

NOTE: I have been using VoIP lines on their service and it has been surprisingly decent. I also have several friends and businesses that I supported who have used their service for the last two years. It has improved since then, and I am hopeful that the trend will continue, since my only alternative is satellite.

Update

The downtime record has been decent, with occasional brief outages (15 minutes or so) and one 24 hour outage due to a tornado. However, speed is dipping day by day. I hear that more bandwidth is coming in the next couple of months, but my work depends on bandwidth, so it makes things difficult.
