I have been with Time Warner for almost 6 month now.

First, I have to say, for $34.99, I am unable to get a "faster" connection anywhere.

Of course, we got to thank the FCC for allowing cable companies, phone companies to monopolize in the United States of America, in the very first place.

But other than $35/month, with a 15Mbps line down, 1Mbps line up, I have a lot of things to tell about how shady this company is.

I had a cable modem from Charter, and I wanted to use that. Installation technician called in, and verified with the tech, and told me my cable modem doesn't work with their network (lie #1). Which then, after they have left, a month or two later, I have called in to switch to my old cable modem, and it is just working as it should. The technicians are just trying to up-sell any additional service, modem leases to you, at your location.

Second, I signed up for $34.99 service, when technician came, they came in and said the service is $52.99. If you don't sign to agree for $52.99, they refuse to install. (lie #2), what you have to do, is to let them install it, sign for $52.99, get the # for Tech Support, or Billing, and call in to cancel service after the install technician has left, for them to change the rate back to $34.99 for 12 month.

And, for the past 5 and half month, our service was down 2 times, and there are three major problems I have with their service. The CPM (connections per minute) »www.pcwelt.de/speedtest/ you get from the test site is horribly low. Which that transfers, a lot of other problems. To make it short, this service is not that useful for gamers. And latency is a problem, I constantly get over 150ms pings, which is not a good service to host a VoIP phone, or to use their phone service. And last problem, this matters to people who downloads a whole lot. If you're downloading via torrents, the fun part, is that their network has codes, to write off your packets, so your downloads typically take a lot longer than slower DSL lines or a lot a lot a whole lot ~~~ longer~~~~ than same speed / same bandwidth alternative fiber networks. Because one of the ways they manage their network, is to drop your packets.

so there, go back to DSL or find Fiber.

this service, is your 2nd to the last resort, if you don't have other options. The good parts about this service, for the first 12 month, is price, and for another, is that there is no long term commitments, no contracts. But the flip side, is they pre-charge you. You're paying for services that you'll be using. Oh . . . .speaking of this, they also will find accounts that you shared w/ your room mates, you had in the past, to associate with you now, so any delinquent account, will get billed back to you on a surprise, and they will add some bogus late charges to your account, like when I only had the service for 55 days, and I've paid the bills at the end of the 1st month, they gave me a late fee of 42 days out of no where. I had to call in, wasted time to get rid of that. They're just notorious at charging misc fees.

Bottom line, buy your own modem, it saves a lot after 4 month, you can obtain a DOCS 2.0 modem for like $15, they charge $3.95/month + tax on leasing their own DOCS 3.0 modem to you (that you don't need, unless you're on TURBO or ULTIMATE service). You save $4.xx every month.

@reliablehosting.com

depends where you live

home owners have better service then people that live in apts.

the reason being home owners have direct access to the cabling and cn get it replaced if need be.

remember if you live in an apt then you get the low end service.

·Champion Broadba..
Overall most everything is outstanding about the company. I just moved into a disabled or senior complex of 115 units that all are pre-wired for cable. TWC is the only cable company that offers cable services for the complex so that is goldmine for TWC given their great diversity of services including Internet, VoIP, DVR, cable TV, and excellent service for residents.

I only got the Internet service. The only alternative to TWC is DSL and DSL performance wise simply is not a worthy option by any standard.

The one complaint I have that has the potential to be a major problem is that all of their services offered are promotional prices and you have to more or less pay close attention to make sure you understand that. After 12 months TWC has the option of charging you their regular price for whatever service it is that you have. And those regular or retail prices aren't easy to find if you catch the promo catch. The situation is potentially worse in that their "regular" prices are substantially higher than any "promo" price.

However TWC says words to the effects of "don't worry call us a couple of months before your promo price ends and we will give you the new or current promo price running at that time. But there is no contractual or specific promise that they will do that. The whishy washy information on that is sort of a financial issue is hanging over your head. I've yet to get a specific answer to the future and it's a very important issue that I want and need to get resolved.

Other than the pricing issue mentioned overall the service is excellent and I certainly would recommend them.

Their tech support is all ways helpful and friendly but are spotty or inconsistent in their responses. I got three totally different answers from the three different techs I communicated with on an issue I had. In the end two were outright incorrect and the third was mostly correct in her speculation but wasn't sure on if the solution would work. It didn't but she was honest about the uncertainty and had a good explanation on why she could not be sure.

The only option in my area is AT&T DSL, CLEAR, and Time Warner. TWC is great when it comes to running a speed test (constantly outperforms my service level of 30/5 with around 31.5/5.5 with 10-15ms ping) but pretty well sucks (compared to the service level) when streaming Netflix or Slingbox on my TV. Quality constantly fluxuates between 1080p and 240p. There is NO reason it should not consistently stream 1080p w/o a problem on a single device.

*update april 2013*

TWC managed to fix the upstream packet loss. At same time I also ordered verizon fios and basically I keep the fios install delayed for a month as long as twc cable works fine, I will do this forever as long as no problems with twc. Great backup plan to have. Currently though everything is great with time warner cable for past month or so, lets hope this year there will be no problems rest of the year which would mark a record in my book for past few years.

*update march 9, 2013*

Since wed when twc did some maintance on the node the same old f problem of upstream packet loss and noise is back again. This is insane. TWC cannot provide me with service without an issue for even half a year. I made a topic that I will be updating on this here:

»[TWC] [nyc, queens] rockaway park - packet loss noise issue(agai

*update december 21, 2012*

Previous upstream problem was resolved on october 20 when plant techs found illegal cable hooked up 2 streets away that was causing the noise on the upstream in the area. After Hurricane Sandy when the power and cable came back everything was perfect until today december 21, since 6pm upstream is nearly dead and sometimes it will hit 0.1Mbit along with 30%packet loss, so a horrible upstream problem again! Cannot even get 1 month problem free from time warner. I called level 3 technician and he confirmed 30 % packet loss but did say that upstream snr and all the signal levels are fine which may indicate problem lies somewhere on time warner network. Right now at midnight the problem is still ongoing I can barely browse websites as most just take like half a minute to load or time out. Forget about downloading anything, streaming, voiceip or playing games, way too much packet loss and almost no upstream speed present. To say I am fed up with this "ultimate 50/5 package" is understatement. I will try to contact client relations again and look if I can catch some time warner van around to see if I can get them to take a look because scheduling a technician to come earliest they can do is 2 weeks away.... so I guess time warner expets me to have basically no usable internet entire holidays over 2 weeks at least while i am on their most elite internet package..... horrible.

*update october 12, 2012*

Problems with upstream are back again and now my upstream SNR is below 18dB as I was told by level 3 tech, of course he was unable to determine which of the 4 upstream channels I was on at the time but upstream snr below 18 when it should be at least 26 tells u the story. I was told to wait to monday for a truck which wont be able to solve the issue, this requires plant tech. So basically time warner still did not address my problem that started back in may, its the same old issue with upstream snr and upstream packet loss. Last night I had no intenret working at all and today I have a lot of packet loss and I bet when usage increases and my upstream snr goes even lower I will have no internet again. This company is lucky I am still waiting on verizon fios non vdsl to be available here.

*update september 18, 2012*

Packet loss on upstream is back today since 7 am and not only that but upload speed is down to below 1Mbit, normally I have no problems hitting 4-5Mbit.... so not only packet loss on the upstream is still the problem but now even the speeds are only 20% of what it should be or less on the upstream. Tech on phone told me he will get a truck roll but I have to again wait a week and client representative assigned to me is not returning the calls for over a week. Client support seems to be degrading lately too.

*update september 3, 2012*

I was migrated to new CMTS which is located in NJ, and at first few days things were great but now the same problem is back, upstream packet loss and total loss of internet every now and then every evening and most of the night. Client representatives promise to call me back within a week regarding updates from engineering and then noone calls me at all, I call back and I am told I cannot speak to client rep they are busy but to leave a number and they call me back.... Level 3 tech became less and less usefull as well on the phone. Back in July I had a plant tech out here who found some old wires streets away that caused noise and he fixed this but there is still another source of noise but now noone will even tell me whether he can come back out here and investigate. 3 months problems and still nothing is basically fixed, so morale of the storey is if you live in NYC and have option to go verizon fios over time warner do it. I am in a bit of situation where I cannot get verizon fios type of service I would want and thus I am stuck with time warner atm but based on last few months it doesnt look like they care about the customers they service.

*update july 23, 2012*

plant tech was finally out here and found noise cause 3 streets away that caused upstream snr to drop every night, however upstream packet loss is still occuring, entire night had packet loss on the upstream now just when I thought problems were fixed. Frankly ever since time warner decided to add upstream channel bonding just to show off( maximum upstream speed on any package is 5Mbit thus 1 channel is enough) there been problems for 2 months now. Clearly either plant/cmts side is not configured properly for upstream channel bonding or there are issues at the node itself. Either way 2 months and aside from upstream snr being fixed the actual packet loss issue continues. I will have to downgrade pacakge to old docsis2 so that there is no upstream channel bonding, that will fix packet loss I believe.

*Update July 3, 2012*

Problems continue and its getting worse again, upstream snr drops below 20dB at nights, connection dies and when its working a lot of upstream packet loss... not the kind of service one expects for $100 bucks and what is called "ultimate internet". I am supposed to contact client relations again.... except I been doing this for over a month now and nothing is fixed.

*Update June 21, 2012*

Tw techs hooked me up to a differnet pole/tap and supposedly upstream SNR is much better, also I noticed when my upstream channels use lower QAM modulation there is no problems, issue is that they sometimes switch to higher and that means if upstream SNR is too low the problems may return. Will update if evertyhing stays normal over weekend.

*Update June 19, 2012*

3+ weeks nothing is fixed. Upstream SNR keeps going out of spec every night and even more and more during the day. All other signal specs sich as power levels, downstream snr etc are great, wiring is all checked on my house. Clearly local pole or area issue on tw lines. Currently I barely have internet working at all. Every time I call I get a run around that plant technician will be out, then I find out from escalation center that there is none scheduled, client relations tells me something is being done, same story for 3 weeks and things are only getting worse. Currently my speeds due to upstream noise is about 1-5Mbit down max and upstream value on last test was 0.02Mbit and this is on time warner wideband 50Mbit/5Mbit package.

Here is fresh test:

»/pingtest/3···/2913958

Took me 5 reloads and about 5 minutes to load and upate this review on this connection.

*Update June 13, 2012*

Something was done on poles or plant side tech that came today said, also tech said my upstream power levels were too close to tmin value so he installed extra splitters to correct it, currently things appear to be fixed, I will wait to see if this stays fixed for few days before I celebrate.

*Update May 26, 2012*

Packet loss problems started again during day hours since yesterday, tech today verified the problem is local when taking readings on the pole and assured crew will be out within 48 hours to fix. I expect this to be fixed within a week, will report but this is horrible timing as I have now crap connection with packet loss for entire memorial weekend.

*Update January 30, 2012*

For the past 6 months everything been smooth, and when there was an issue like modem rebooting etc.... calling level 3 was always quick.

I would grade this service much higher if it wasnt for one problem. ON wideband time warner does not allow u access to modem control page such as seeing signal levels etc... but if you get signature wideband then you have access.

*Update May 09, 2011*

Packet loss issue been resolved for now, however I was contacted and told that regional issue with upstream/utilization is still being worked on and that I may get refund until its fixed. This is very nice support for a change!

*Update May 04, 2011*

Level 3 local tech did confirm there is dataloss/signal issue in region did not give me any estimate if and when this be fixed. This is how my TIME WARNER wideband has been for 2 weeks now more or less:

As a result I have to continue to downgrade my review grades.... not much of a choice, I can barely visit this website...

*Update May 01, 2011*

For past 2 weeks I been having packet loss and upstream issues, its got so bad I totally lose internet at evening... I have spoke with level 3 support but I have to wait week and half for a tech to come and fix this. Level 3 confirmed that this is issue at the pole or in my local area but they are forcing me to wait over a week to fix it.... Plus with wideband in nyc I have no option to go to tw center and replace modem just to ensure its not my mode thats messed up, for wideband they have stupid policy that a tech has to replace a modem.... I have had terrible problems now for 2 weeks, paying $100 for this package.... I have to lower my scores for connection reliability at the moment as this is just terrible.

*Update Jan 31, 2011*

I have upgraded to Wideband service 50/5 and few days later TW fixed an issue described in older review listed below. At this moment the speeds reach 50Mbps even during peak times, and latencies are great. The modem TW provides with wideband, they block out access to it which is a big minus. Otherwise, the service is great at the moment. Installation of wideband required a technician to run a dedicated line without splitters to my modem. This package is expensive as its $100 a month, so I expect my service to remain in top notch form for that kind of price, and at this moment it is as good as advertised. Will update this review if anything changes.

*Original Review from January 20, 2011*

I have been customer since 2003. I bought the RR Turbo Package with 20/1 package. Until december 2010 service been great, and I use internet a lot, mainly to download games(steam) and privately as I beta test. I also play games a lot. There were few problems during the years but they were resolved in a day or less. However, since mid december 2010 RoadRunner in nyc/queens started displaying terrible latency and slow speeds at peak usage times, between 8pm and 12pm in the evenings. Things got bad to the point where using internet between those hours on weekends is not an option. Especially if you try to play a game. Signal levels are great on the modem, the problem appears to be Road Runners NYC infrastructure, maybe its not catching up with demands and its overloaded. If they could resolve this problem then I would grade them as great service, but so far it doesn't look like this will get resolved. If you need internet only for basic things like browsing internet/email and maybe downloading something off peek time then I recommend Road Runner in NYC, but for serious gaming I do not recommend it.

Re: thanks

gl, I had issues recently with upstream dying, but I fuond out I can get my own modem provisioned then I could see signal stuff myself cause on the wideband modems they provide in nyc they block your access to modem in nyc.

This is whats happening so far in may 2011 in queens/rockaway park area with time warner wideband.... supposedly its region issue related. Pathetic.

A monopoly on a mission

If you live in a town with no cable competiton, you are at risk of being abused. The TW product problem department is great. Polite helpful quick and effective. Sales marketing etc. is the worse. It takes forever to get to the appropriate dept. you are trying to reach becasue their auto messaging never gets a key word. My account went up 14% year over year for the same services based upon the fact I had a speical last year though I have been a custome for 18 years. They financially force you to take the pkg they want you to take by charging more for less services. The reps are always polite. I feel bad they have to work for such a bad company. Competition is the best solution to this attitude but this clearly is not happening here.

TWC service

I have to say the service and equipment is poor at best. Intermittent service on a daily basis. The tech support team is nice/sympathetic however you still have to wait DAYS for someone to arrive to assess the issues. Horrible company, horrible products.

TWC sucks now in my area too.

I agree that they have a monopoly in my area too. In January I had intermittent connection problems where the modem would show a connection but I could not ping anything. I then had a tech swap out the DCM425 modem for a Ubee modem. Service was great till last August when I doubled my speeds from 10/1 to 20/1 I started to have intermittent connection problems again so I swapped the modem and I got another DCM425. I then had a tech guy come out and he replaced my very old cable line. Ran a new line to the backyard. My connection was good for two weeks until my internet went out on Friday for a few hours. Since then during peak hours Sunday around 7:30 PM it slowed down with packet loss. Monday it was fine until exactly 8 PM and then my upload slowed down to a crawl first then the download slowed down then around 10 PM it was back to normal. I even downgraded my speeds back to 10/1 but it was still slow. These losers even had the nerve to push back my September 18th appointment to October 8th. Three weeks away.

I went back to the TWC center and I swapped my modem again and asked for a new up to date modem. I got a SBG6580. I used it earlier and the speeds were great. Pingtest was a A and I even got 9.96 up and 0.98 down. Then I cooked my supper and ate around 5 PM. I went online at 6 PM to check my email and right away I noticed to took longer then normal. I then ran a speedtest my download was still 9 but my upload was 0.02. I called them up and they said I was getting 96% packet loss. I said the connection was fine until the evening and this all started since the Friday internet outage. Then at exactally 9:48 PM according to my modem logs my speeds were great again. Ping was low around 11 ms and the Speedtest was 10.02 down and 0.98 up. I am getting fed up with them me and my mother reliy on a stable internet connection. I can no longer watch Netflix worrying if it would slow down and drop out.

The thing that really ticks me off is that they do have a monopoly in my area. It is eiter these losers or VDSL. Verizon only offers there crappy DSL in my area with DirecTV. No thanks. So I have to stick with crappy TWC or be without the internet which is not a option.

TIME Warner Cable is absolutley the Worst EVER

TIME WARNER CABLE IS THE WORST EVER!!! i set up services and then waited for over a month while they tried installing my cable on 3 different occasions. FINALLY they were able to get it up and running but they failed to provide a second cable for the back bedroom box they said i had to purchase my own. i bought a cable about a month later the service in the back bedroom kept going in and out flickering non stop i called they said it was the cable i needed a better one i purchased a new cable ... same thing.. i called.. same thing.. after 6 mos. and almost 200.00 in cables they finally came out and changed the box out.. and oh my it worked normally again. then i was moving i set up transfer date they disconnected my services 2 weeks early (and charged me for reconnection) i had to have them hook it back up upon doing so i find out that THEY added a bundle package to include cable and internet as well which doubled my bill...FURIOUS i call spend 3 days having all of that removed then they decided a week before the move they wanted to change my transfer date 4 TIMES WITHOUT MY KNOWLEDGE.. i spent hours getting it fixed each time THEY DECIDED to change it.. then move date came .. guess what NO SERVICE AT NEW PLACE but i was charged for the installation fee... i call they come a week later finally hook it up and low an behold there is an outage.. still no service.. and i get charged a second fee.. then i get my bill.. they also charged me a one time transfer fee of 118.00 YES I SAID IT 118.00 i call them .. im beyond fed up at this point explain all of the unnecessary drama from them and the rep tells me im unintelligent ..REALLY!!! well lady your right im unintelligent for continuing to invest money into a company such as this one .... so I CANCELED MY SERVICES... Time Warner Cable BusinessClass Internet - recently AWFUL

Since before Sandy, the service has been quite spotty. This is in the Flatiron district of Manhattan. Goes from working OK, to dropped packets, to not working at all. I call in to report service problems and get everything from "yes we see dropped packets", or - "there's an outage in the area", to "no trouble found".

I get robo-calls telling me the service has been restored, when it's still lousy.

I then get "how are we doing" surveys, which add insult to injury.

This worked very well for quite awhile, but it's just been miserable recently.

If I connect a different Internet provider to the VERY SAME ETHERNET PORT on my router, I have NONE of these problems.

And Oh, yes... when I call in for a service call, they schedule it for 2-5 days in the future. This is supposed to be "Business Class" service.

And their usual response is "we'll change the modem". Been there. done that AT LEAST 3 TIMES. No change.

Phooey.

What a shame.

When I moved to Rochester, WI I placed a new order for Cable TV with a DVR and Cable Internet 15/1 with Turbo. The connection has been rock solid and I have no complaints about it at all. I had my own cable modem so everything went great

Update 3/09/2013

I moved back to Burlington, WI and placed a new order for 50/5mbps internet and Cable TV. My install was done on the same day I moved in. At this time I had purchased a Tivo XL4 Premiere box. The internet is really fast but not as fast as my 105/20mbps Comcast which I had for 9 months prior. I have issues with the Tivo not recording suggestions but this is an error with the TWC SDV boxes. Overall I'm pretty satisfied.

Update 5/08/2013

Everything is running smoothly. I'm close to getting my rebate. I think I have another month left to wait. The internet has been solid and no disconnects. The cable TV has been great as well. All and all I'm still satisfied.

Frustrated with loose connection

I moved to Cleveland OH from VA and the only available internet/ cable service for the apartment complex was Time Warner Cable. So I ordered one. and ever since my internet connection was horrid.. exactly around 10:30 11:00am the Modem goes offline.. After numerous calls and 3 home visit the last guy detected it as a bad cable to my entry point..
Now I am given a discount after my calls to them.. although I had almost NO connection for 2 months ( Sporadic) I am offered only a week and 3 days when they didnt have someone to send to my home.. On top of that they never sent me a bill and now collection calls are calling...
I am tired and frustrated fighting with them..I work from home and internet connection is my bread and butter I had to go to ppls home and library to work these past two months almost every day but these ppl are master cons..

TWC Blazing Speeds That Are 4X Faster Than Dial-up!

Update: Since I've upgraded to 30/5 the service is awesome. This upgrade was not by choice, all the other services that TWC offers are only a little faster than Dial-up, not much faster...just a little itsy-bit faster...

Turbo is about 5-6Mb. Standard is about 1-2Mb. Utilization issues going on for over a year now...

Update again: Forget all that. they still suck! They sometimes fluctuate from "horrible" to "doesn't suck that bad" but always back to "horrible" eventually.

I have been customer of NYC Time Warner Road Runner Turbo Plus package in rockaway park queens, and until 4 weeks ago I would give them A+, but since 4 weeks ago every day at peak times latency jumps above 300 ms on their network and speeds are down to dial up specs, I agree with your ratings right now, this is terrible service atm. I have been calling support almost 100 times past 4 weeks and still nothing been done about my problem, except the fact technician came to visit only to confirm there is no problem on my end, its congestion on nyc rr network, thats the real problem it seems.

·Verizon Online DSL
Feb'2012 post install feedback;

After a lot of procedural headaches with Verizon aDSL, I decided to give TWCable a try. I was impressed how technically savvy they were in sales, and how easy it was to reschedule install appointments and get more info.

The installer came on time, but was kind of a jerk; instead of putting in a $3 video:data splitter on to my existing CATV cable, he spliced a coupler out in the hallway cable tray to run the new cable to my computer, left the old CATV cable without a connector - so he basically left a mess for the next guy who may later upgrade me for HDTV, and added more unnecessary DB loss on my line for future DOCSIS3 upgrading.

more bad luck as the first new RCA model DCM425 modem he tried had a DOA Ethernet port, and he got testy with me when i proved to him it was not my computer by showing a twinkling ethernet NIC card light while attached to my old Verizion Westell 7500 modem. I think these installers are so used to dealing with 80yo great grandmothers who just want to email their kids, that when a tech savvy customer comes along that questions their modus operandi, they can get easily flustered. I later discovered the working modem he left me was actually used for the past 6 Months according to the modems own EventLog.

My download order rating was 10mbps but I'm often seeing 12-16mbps during non primetime hours, and around 7-10mbps during primetime. my Latency to the 3rd Hop is 15-25ms, which seems impressive for a Broadband ISP.

* I knew on order I would get only 0.5mbps upload, but I'm pretty bummed out on how much that low latency bandwidth makes Video chat, VoIP, online games and even forum posting feel sluggish compared to the low Latency 0.8mbps upload I enjoyed with Verizon aDSL. I suspect the upload is compressed by the ISP, making it even more problematic for certain upload intensive applications.

Getting a new dynamic public IP is more cumbersome than it was on my Verizon aDSL modem, but at least it's possible if you have a router to alternate your mac address with your pc's mac.

wideband 30/5 DOCSIS3 is offered here for $20/mo more, so I may upgrade once I grow more confident in TWCable stability and reliably especially during primetime hours. I'll reevaluate in 3-6 months, and change my worst-best scores as they merit it: »testmy.net/quickstats/spypet

Mar'2012 first Month feedback;

* My upload seems to have been increased to 1mbps, download averages over 10mbps, and Latency is a respectable 20ms, so I'm very pleased with the performance and reliability thus far. I'm able to trip DHCP into giving me a new IP address by alternating between my PC's MAC and my extra Router's MAC address, and I find that ability comforting. now that my upload feels increased, I notice fewer upload compression symptoms, and upload intensive applications are more responsive.

I used online chat tech support for the first time, and am sad to report the live person seemed more interested in running through some unrelated diagnostic script that only demonstrated to me he had no real technical understanding of my question. I eventually found the answer I needed elsewhere just googling around for it.

Torrent users should be aware that TWCable seems very intrusive of such activity even if all you do is grab some TV episode you just missed, so a good third party Proxy/VPN or SeedBox is advised to protect your privacy and net neutrality. Since my 15/1 line cost me less than I was paying the far less intrusive Verizon, I don't mind paying someone else extra for a LeaseWeb based anonymizing service.

May'2012 deterioration:

My average speed has decreased from over 14/1 to 9/1 for no reason, but that is still near the 10/1 of Standard service speed. My area suffers a few hours of ISP service outage every 2 Months.

June'2012 intermittent:

I'm averaging 12/1 but my connection to the internet seems to lock up, and even though the activity lights look normal, i'm forced to power cycle the modem to get back on the web just about every other day.

Aug'2012 back on track:

I finally insisted TWCable do a premise visit by a Tech, not an installer. he could not find anything specifically wrong but swapped out my original install RCA modem for a Ubee. ever since then my line has been more consistent and I have not needed to power cycle my new modem.

Nov'2012 spotty routing:

I bought my own $28 factory reconditioned sb5101u docsis2 modem to avoid the monthly lease fee, and also benefited from a recent free speed increase given to all Standard plans.

I regret not getting a docsis3 but the few on their support list were over $100. It's a shame TWCable made us buy our own modems, since now it's far less likely I'll try their 30/5 wideband plan once my first year ends in Feb'2013.

so now i'm enjoying 20/1 offpeak 15/1 peak with 2.0MB/s average instead of 1.2MB/s. routing issues continue to be TWCable's weak point, as I often get better connectivity to US sight while on my European VPN then I do right off my public IP domestically. with FiOS still a year away from being build up on my block, I'm glad for the speed and ability TWCable gave me to help keep things affordable.

April'2013 intermittent speed:

I suffered for a few weeks with poor routing and bad speed, so I called Tier 1 who escalated me to Tier 3, and all he saw as a just below threshold coax signal, so he ordered a premise visit. On my own volition, I changed the MAC of the device connected to my modem, power cycled and got a new dynamic public IP assigned to my modem. Sure enough that solved my problem as my speed and routing was back to normal, so I cancelled the premise visit - now I know to try this when I see similar symptoms. My guess is TWC somehow assigned two devices on their network the same IP, so we were both getting each other's packet traffic. I'm still tempted to upgrade to a docsis3 30/5 service - just waiting for confirmation from any local resident that my area enjoys 8/4 channel bonding. I continue to use a Romanian VPN provider for all P2P/Torrent traffic and regularly enjoy 1Mb/s transfer rates, so I can download an hour long 460p TV show in 6 minutes.

Before getting TWC in the area I live in (rural), we were limited to DSL service from a local telecom company. While their service was decent, their speeds were very slow...our area had just been upgraded to 3M/512k DSL about a year before TWC ran their lines to my neighborhood. Once they did, EVERYONE switched to TWC for Internet. We've had very little problems with TWC's service other than what was found to be caused by field animals found nesting inside pedestals and other equipment outside in the neighborhood.

Ordered 30Mx5M bandwidth. Ubee DW3611 Docsis 3.0 modem w/ wireless was installed in bridge/DHCP mode (WiFi disabled) due to me having my own wireless router. Got tripleplay w/ video and digital phone. It all works pretty well. Glitches here and there but tech support resolved them all quite easily.

For the most part, I've had minimal troubles with tech support. They have all been able to resolve issues on the 1st call. I've only had to have a tech dispatched to my home once. That time I was given the wrong type of cable modem, so I picked up a replacement on my way home from work.

I'm mostly satisfied with TWC high speed cablemodem internet access. I was
on the 30megs service, but when they restructured their plans, they bumped
me up to 50mb for the same price. Most downloads are fast, torrents are quick,
Netflix does HD np, but YOUTUBE TAKES FOREVER. They NEED a Midwest cache
for Youtube content. Even 720p speeds constantly hitch, freeze and fail to
load reliably. When they do load, it's slower than playback speed. I can
do HD on other sites reliably but Youtube performance is abysmal for this
tier of internet. This is a review for Kansas City, Mo
