Super fast if you live in an area that is able to get 50/5.
Sometimes support is a bit too basic and the occasional packet loss.
If you got the money and want the speed and don't live in a FIOS area. Do it.

Came to TWC once more after AT&T U-Verse announced bandwidth metering (which I really hope TWC does not force users onto their new metered plans). Was on their basic 20/2 service for a better part of a year up until their higher speed tiers came in. I opted to pick up the 50/5. Super fast but do get the occasional problem, but not too distracting.

Install was pretty standard, my apartment complex has a usual technician that does all the installs and is pretty quick and was able to set up cabling in the fashion I wanted. No complaints there.

Fast reliable connectivity, for now.
They decided to charge for the modem after I was installed.
A better option than Verizon standard DSL for reliability and speed.

I had Verizon DSL for 8 years, when the connection started failing repeatedly and they wouldn't troubleshoot it, I switched to the Internet-only TW service. I verified that their 39.99 price would not include extra charges and that turned out to be correct. Speed is advertised as up to 10mbps - typically I experienced 7 to 8mbps. They signed me up after calling and having them do a credit check.

They scheduled the installation for 2 weeks from my call. I never received a call appointment. I had to call them. Installation was very professional. They provided a basic RCA cable modem, about the size of a Roku. No features (but that's okay, all I wanted was an Internet connection.) I have my own 8 port switch with wifi.

2 months in, I received notice they would start charging for the modem. The notice didn't come in time for me to avoid the first month's extra charge. I purchased a modem off their "approved" list and called for them to switch me over. While I was on hold, they tried to upsell me to faster Internet service. They wouldn't enable my modem until I returned their modem. So, I arranged that and meantime paid an additional month of the modem lease.

When I returned it I had to call them again because they didn't enable my modem. While on hold, they tried again to upsell me a faster Internet rate - which I found irritating. Then, just yesterday I received an email telling me they had upgraded me to 15mbps service for free as a "thank you" or holiday gift. I would have been pretty upset if I had paid their special rate they offered me, to find out others got it for free!

Time Warner is the ONLY cable ISP available in Owensboro Ky and it definitely shows in their customer service. I wont go into a long list of issues I have with them but I will say that if there were any other option for cable ISP in our area I definitely would not use Time Warner... My internet connection is constantly dropping several times a day and now after ten years of paying for their internet service they want to start charging me a modem lease. I would think after ten years I have already well more than paid for the use of their modem. Then to call and ask for assistance is a joke.. they expect you to wait all day for them to show up at their convenience. I just want to let others know before they select their cable and ISP provider, that I would never recommend Time Warner. We are moving this summer to a new home and believe me, Time Warner will not be a service provider in our home.

TIME WARNER CABLE SUCKS!! We ordered cable on 11/8 and within 2 hours called back and canceled. I was told the $160.04 deposit would be refunded soon. I requested they call before coming due to our dogs. Over 2 weeks after cancelation they called to ask if a representative could pick up the equipment that evening. He showed up as scheduled, signed the inventory sheets, gave us copies and left. The next evening without calling another technician came by to pick up the equipment that was already turned in! We hadn't heard from TWC nor received a refund until the day I received a bill for over $840. After being transferred, hung up on, put on hold and spending hours on the phone, it was finally determined the deposit of $160.04 was canceled by their Banking Services Department due to a name change. There was no name change! They admitted it was their error as no "written name change" was received. It was determined during the original order call when we wanted the billing in a specific name, their representative must have "typed over" the account information. I asked for a manager, after numerous transfers, calls and lies I finally was told the Corporate Office was in NYC. They also stated they wouldn't refund 100% because of "franchise fees". I called NYC and they said the Regional Office was in Charlotte NC. I did talk to them and was told the refund would be coming soon. They agreed since we had the service less than 2 hours, they would refund 100% but due to FCC rules they couldn't electronically refund the money. The Dallas representative called me back a few days later to tell me the refund would have to come from Chicago then go to the banking services in Charlotte NC then to CA who would over night the refund. I asked why Chicago and she said, “I never said Chicago! You must have misunderstood me when I said Charlotte!” She advised we should receive the expedited refund in 7 to 10 business days. I asked why so long, she replied the normal refund taking 15 to 30 days. I pointed out today is 12/3, the original cancelation date was 11/8 and in 7 to 10 business days it would far surpass the 15 to 30 days refund. I added that the company should have sent the installer back since both the installer and the customer service agent admitted the installation was missing “a component” so the install wouldn’t be completed until 11/14. I explained since it was never 100% installed, it shouldn’t have been an issue to turn their guy around, take the equipment and give the check back. She apologized and said 7 to 10 business days then overnight shipping from CA is the best they can do. BUYER BEWARE!!

Installer had to run a new line front the pole in the ally to my house. That went fine. Inside I have the modem hooked up to a router that serves my ATT Microcell, PS3, Apple TV.

Have the Scientific Atlantic modem, seems to work well, boots up fast.

I forget how long this price goes for, have the standard package, do not really need much more speed than that. Apple TV/Netflix work great and get a great picture.

Lately I've been getting connection drop outs at various times during the day.

Damn Time Warner Customer Service

Their Customer Service is so poor! Each month bill has some issue that needs adjustment! Fixing that needs at least 2 hours in line on the phone to talk to someone! Then that someone is telling that they do understand what you say but he/she is not allowed to do that adjustment so they should reconnect you to another person! It means another half an hour waiting on the line!!!
Finally you may fix your problem after 5-6 times of calling in 2-3 days!!!
If you really want to spend that much time waiting to talk with a customer service representative, go for that. Otherwise I really suggest not to get any service from Time Warner Cable! There are always other choices

Outages are common. Technical support is horrible, I had a service rep
(most likely a subcontractor) out to my house, and all he did was complain
about how horrible and stupid Time Warner Cable is. Calling tech support
gives you an automated message asking you to reboot your router, with about
a 5 minute wait to talk to a human. I tried 4 calls last night and could
not get a human. Trying to get a refund for downtime is next to
impossible, even when service is out for more than 1 week.

Speeds can be much faster than advertised outside peak hours, and this is a
quality product for the money even during peak hours when they aren't
experiencing an issue.

No other options for broadband service except RoadRunner, so I got the Extreme 30/5
Installation went fine and was up and running within the hour.
All was awesome at first, but over the past few months, speeds dropped, pages wouldn't load, packet loss etc

I don't understand

That's all the review is based on? How is the quality of service? Downtime? How do the techs respond to fixing issues?

Most big bundling companies have terrible customer service, however that's not an indication of their quality of service. I think a more in depth review would be awesome here. I don't really see much justification for the scores and I'd like to know why you rated this way.

Re: I don't understand

Yup, I think this is too short of a complaint, did you send your complaint to your city? Did you file a report? If the answer is NO, then this review is null and void. It sounds like it to me your basing your review on the lack of tech support the level 1 "techs" have. Not with overall performance.

Did you know you can speak directly to the tier 2 techs here? I think that's a step in the right direction.

»/fo ··· erdirect

Let us know what's happening cause I might end up from my big fat Cox connection to a TWC connection (which I found out doesn't have caps.. yet..)
