Wanted to avoid AT&T, Time Warner was high quality and convenient. Originally got a promo package, now settled onto Digital Cable and Road Runner. Order & Install within 3 days, was friendly and quick. Digital Cable Box was either Motorola or Scientific Atlanta I can't recall have since switched to Cable Card. Cable Modem was black cable modem from Motorola. Have all been good experiences with the exception of the random sometimes a few times a week 10-25 minute downtime around 11pm-1am. Just randomly shuts down, and comes back. Sort of coming back to a place where we might drop the Video service and go strictly to Road Runner, I'd recommend Time Warner over AT&T to everyone.

Have been a TW customer for over two years. Very few outages. This is an old Comcast area, bought out by AT&T, then by TW.
When first setup, HSI went great. TV connections were good. Upgraded to HD-DVR boxes - wife loves them
Motorola SB2400 surfboard Motorola HD boxes
No real complaints, except cost.

I've used Verizon, Bellsouth, Earthlink, Cricket, Cingular, Windstream and some other name that I can't remember but I've found that Time Warner Cable's Road Runner is the fastest and most reliable Internet Service Provider in the Charlotte, NC area. Upgraded to the Turbo version 2 years ago and WILL NOT use any other service. I've hit downloads as high as 19800, almost 20Mbps is awesome for less than $50 bucks. I have not lost service one time since we moved in and I use to have it when I have lived other places here in Charlotte for over the last 5 years and its the best on the market.
The installer guy came in 3 days from when I moved in and then like 6 months later we moved to the Apt next door and they had to come back out and transfer me and they were there the next day, heck we weren't even done moving our stuff over here yet. Guy ran me brand new lines too. (which is always a plus for speed).
Last year we dumped our Time Warner Cable for Direct TV and the NFL package ( I didn't give up my Turbo Road Runner, I'm not that stupid ). But I was stupid enuf to bite on the Direct TV deal, now where it did have a ton of movies and good channels, the reception when out every time it rained or stormed, We had the repair guy out 2 or 3 times a week for the whole 6 months we had the shit, I cancelled it and now they are hounding me for an early termination fee of like $485 or some ungod like figure, I told em to come get it like Count Drac. Direct TV's Customer service people were the worst from any company of any kind. At least TWC's customer service people answered the phone quickly and knew what they were talking about.
I'll never switch again.

One day our AT&T adsl modem died for second time this year and we had to call our IT guy for help. When he arrived I asked some question and fortunately I mentioned the price we were paying for 4 AT&T business phone lines, elite internet + international long distance calls. Our total monthly bill is/was around $700 a month!
Our IT guy recommend us to talk to TimeWarner and get an estimate on the services that we currently have so I gave TWCBC a call and to my surprise I got an estimate of $187 a month for 4 business lines and 10/1 internet. I asked the salesman what was the catch and he said there was no catch so the next day I placed the order.
The order confirmation arrived in the form of a 5 page digitally signed pdf document our IT guy filled out the form and sent it back. The work order included phone numbers port. 8 days later our IT guy called me and informed me that the installation was scheduled for wednesday (10 days from placing the order)
The installation day came and it took around two hours. When the TWCBC technician left we had 4 new phone lines and 10/1 internet. Our IT guy spent the next two days cleaning up decades of AT&T's neglect on the internal wiring, probably 2 thirds of the internal wiring was removed. The inside of the access cabinet looked like a rat's nest.
I ran a speed test and got a solid 10240Kbps down and 967Kbps up.
The funny thing is that AT&T called and offer us a discount of about $400 but it was too late in the process. I asked the AT&T representative why they didn't call me before and she said that this promotion was recently introduced in September 2009, what a bunch of *%^$.

I've been with "Time Warner Cable Business Class" (AKA "RR for Business") for over a month now. I am very satisfied with the move from "Cincinnati Bell Home Office" service to this one.
I was promised 10M down and 1.5M up and the line tests to that locally. Reasonable distances reduce that significantly, but still perform at TWICE the Cincinnati Bell Service on "the best day ever". I take the latency issue to mean that the ISP equipment is not as optimized as it could be and TRACERT bears this out: I.E. - 8 hops to a backbone, 16 to Google.com.. If memory serves, this is +2 over Cincinatti Bell Fuse traces.
How it all Started:
Cincinnati Bell performed some kind of remote modem upgrade over a year ago, and it started my dissatisfaction with that service. Prior to the upgrade, I was promised and received 2.5M down, 768K up. After the "upgrade" I appeared to have 4.5M down and 615K up. Several calls to tech support later, I was told that there was no change to upload caused by their upgrade. This was "the first straw".
Next, my land line services continued increase in cost. DSL charges + Two POTS lines + Caller ID (1 line) and Free Long Distance plus taxes ~$120/mo.
I asked Cincinnati Bell if they offered DSL on lines without POTS and they declined. That was the "Last Straw".
Finally, I determined that it was just too much to pay any more and began looking at VOIP solutions... Enter Time Warner and RoadRunner for Business. This service promised and delivered as advertised. I was pleasantly surprised at the level of support and competence of same. They have a different support organization for Business class than other RoadRunner service... including a 24/7 call center and dedicated installation team.
Without doubt, this is the most Competent support I've encountered since AT&T Long Lines in the 1970's.
I discontinued DSL in 3 days, and POTS within a month of signing up for T-Mobile@home. (I'll review that under separate post... good news mostly)
Final Talley: I'm saving at least $50 a month and have superior internet service - nearly 3 times the upload and 2x the download. No outages in service so far, no blocked ports.
Supplied Equipment: * 1 Public IP * 1 Router/Modem (Mfgr Unknown) * TeleWorker Service 10M Down 1.5M Up (Man-o-Man!)
UPDATE: September 20, 2009
Having had this service for almost a year, I can offer this update. Recently, I began having some intermittent issues. These were infrequent at first, and over the last month or so became a suficient nusance that I decided to seek tech service help.
The problems manifest as short gaps in connectivity, often lasting under a minute. Sometimes the modem detected a loss of carrier sync, sometimes not. Tech support looked at the modem's logs and could see 1200 such "flaps" or "flops" in the last week.
There seemed to be no pattern to these, making it very difficult to diagnose. Their test equipment was not conclusive.
Within a day of making my complaint, they replaced my modem.
Within the week, [on another visit] they had replaced the "drop" [the line from the street pole to my house] which actually cured the problem. That line was over 18 years old.
I consider this to be excellent response to such a difficult problem. All but one of the individuals giving me tech [phone] support were professional, knowledgeable, accepting of my input, and helpful. Since I dealt with about 8 people in the course of all this, I consider this ratio superb.
Judge for yourself, but I feel the service is still excellent, and am very impressed with their support overall. The line performance has not fallen off one iota since initially installed. 10M Down, 1.4M+ Up [honestly]
The only downside: their backbone - still remains "weak" for a pipe of this size.
Summary: Still here, still happy. I have been supported.

moved to the NEO area of TWC. The house I moved into already had cable hooked up from the previous residents. A trip to the local office and my lease landed me a modem and them $60 for service.
Took 30 minutes to get full up and running and their servers did they're work. My service was disconnected upon an aduit and finding out the CSR that hooked my service up in their system entered the WRONG address for my house! Tech came out the next day and hooked me back up.
Lesson was never deal with a CSR that doesn't know how her computer's mouse works.

I had AT&T DSL at first, which was solid but only gave me 640k upstream. I do video conferencing out of my home, and needed much more upstream b/w. With the "Turbo" option for $15/mo, my Road Runner service has 20Mb down and 2Mb up. This is great during the business day when most folks are at work. But as soon as 4pm hits, my upstream speed drops below 1 Mb and I have to reduce my call speeds.
Still the best option at this point. I would have to pay $250/month for dedicated b/w from Time Warner with 1.5Mb up.

I've had Time Warner Internet for several years. This review applies mainly to the problems that I've been experiencing for last 2-3 days
Something happened with Time Warner DNS servers several days ago. The recording on support line says "if you have a problem with Internet or VoIP - we know about it, it's a region-wide problem, technicians are working on it. No other information is available".
I changed my settings to Static IP and third-party DNS servers, and it is working... so it *is* DNS problem on their end. I wonder, how long does it take to set up a failover DNS server!
UPDATE May 1, 2009: I had several hours of DNS Server outage again. It took me 40 minutes to convince the tech support that it is DNS problem (and I spoke with 5 of them, and 3 of them asked for my social security number). Seems like if nslookup google.com doesn't work, and nslookup google.com [other DNS server IP] works fine - it should be the end of conversation.
On the upside - after every DNS outage (and it's the fourth in the last six months) the speed goes up. Today, it jumped from 10MBs to 13MBs. Well, maybe it's not a big price to pay!

| DNS errors for more than a month We have been essentially down for 48 hours in San Diego with the same issue. However, the DNS server failures have been occuring here for more than a month, but only late at night until these last two days which has obviously been a total breakdown. We called tech support and explained our findings to Tier 3 techs (TW Business Service AND Residential) but everyone just wanted to blame our hardware.
We have a database app that sends some packets to a website every 30 seconds. It shows a DNS error (unable to resolve domain) about 12 times each evening, at scattered times throughout the night. In the past two days, it is showing more than 300 errors each night. Again, this has been going on for more than a month. Even after showing them the log files of the erros, TW continues to blame hardware on our end. Ridiculous.
When I called Tier 3 techs at the Business Support office today, the guy actually wanted to trouble shoot my modem and was totally unaware of the chaos that had been occuring across all of So. Cal (and Hawaii) for 2 days. TW really is pathetic. Aren't monopolies just great?

| TWC It's been 5 days now. I've gotten nowhere on the phone nor with the Analyst chats available on Roadrunner.com. Here's an excerpt of my last chat dated about 4 hours ago:
MOD Modem provisioning is down in your area. That is the reason we are facing the issue. MOD We are working hard to fix the issue. ME I think I've done my share of calling, chatting, troubleshooting, and worrying- I should practically fall under TWC's payroll! ha. I've had a phone tech do a remote reboot, which was pretty nifty. It was nifty that he could remotely control my modem but could not remotely fix my connection. He was actually one of the coolest service tech's (analysts) I've ever spoken to on the phone! But he had no information to provide. No reason for the outage. No ETR, just a discount.
MOD Chris, we don't have the update for the time frame. MOD But most of the Los Angeles part is effected. Me So hypothetically speaking- it COULD be a month? Me It could be tomorrow? Me but it's all a 'crap-shoot' in the end. lol
I get the runaround
yet again.
MOD I can understand that the frustration, but do understand that we are trying to fix it since we don't wan to lose our valuable customer. MOD Your ticket number is XXX and their contact number is 1-888-TWCABLE (1-888-892-2253) MOD Just refer the ticket number and they will provide you with the information.
I call and tell them the Chat Analyst told me to call to get more information. The Operator I got asked me what I knew- then told me there was nothing beyond that- she could share and I had the same amount of knowledge as her. Im sad.

We have the 7mb/384kb service. Speedtests from this site show that it's at or above its rated speed every time I've tested it. Latency is 20-30ms doing a trace to dslreports.com. Little/no downtime and I work from home online.
