I signed up for the 30 day free trial, input my credit card to be billed after the trial was over, spent time configuring my account, tested to make sure it all worked, then started giving out the new eVoice phone number. A few days later, I am getting no calls, and when i try to use the iPhone app, it says "number disabled." I can't login to their website anymore either: "Username/password combination invalid."

I email their support - where's my account? They write back they disabled it because they "suspected fraud" and that I should fax them my credit card statement if I want my account back. Why would I want an account at a place that will cut you off with no notice or warning?

They could have CALLED ME ON MY PHONE NUMBER to tell me they suspected fraud and ask me to prove something before cutting off the primary, universal, only-phone-number-you-need.

Terrible, awful, really screwed me up to have the number disabled after I gave it out to important new contacts -- the whole purpose for which I signed up for the service.

Free Greek DID; Very good quality calls
No way to pay for outgoing calls except at a bank in Greece
good while it lasted - HOL shut down service

My WAF (wife acceptance factor) has been dropping lately because of poor quality VOIP calls to Greece. The Voxalot general forum has a sticky list of free DIDs including HOL and their eVoice service. I followed the directions and created an HOL.gr account and corresponding eVoice account which give me a free Athens Greece DID.

The HOL sign up can be done in English and the return emails were in both Greek and English. The adslgr forum had the details of how to set up eVoice on asterisk. Most everything there is in Greek, but babelfish does a good translation job.

The received calls are excellent quality so I wanted to try outgoing calls to Greece via eVoice. The e-Voice HOL forum at adslgr has posts from other users who would like to fund outgoing calls, but they conclude it is only possible in person at a Greek bank. I would've liked to give them some money for outgoing calls in appreciation of the free incoming calls but I can't complain about anything else.

update - My wife's sister called from Athens to let us know our Greek number was down. SIP registrations are failing and adslgr.com forum entries report all users have been shut down. I logged on to my hol.gr account and see it no longer lists eVoice. So I need to look for an alternative. It was good while it lasted. Since it was so hard to give them money, it had to be hard to make a profit.
