I have one of the mid-level TV packages and 10mb internet through Cablemas.

Upload speeds are less than 1mb. Download speeds rarely higher than about
8mb, although once in a while I see 10-11 or 12mb.

Ping times vary from barely ok to horrible, generally it's medium laggy.
Not the best for online gaming.

My biggest gripe with Cablemas internet is that even though I am paying for
internet service, my ISP sneaks in the occasional pop up ad. That's right!
For things like pizza, yoo, other junk I don't need. I was able to hack the
code and identify the server sending this garbage and blocked it. That will
suffice for now but eventually Cablemas will figure it out and change the
method of delivery or server ip.

One thing I do like though is Cablemas has generators that keep cable
service alive during frequent power outages. Since I have backup power
here, I can remain on the net or tv until my back up (or theirs) runs out
of juice.

TV service is pathetic. Low resolution, poor sound quality, lots of
outages/freezes/loss of sound/lagging/skipping. A while back Cablemas
dumped the analog system and went with digital, which would be ok if their
mandatory boxes were decent. The boxes suck. And then about a year after
forcing the boxes on us now they are now charging us 30 pesos extra a month
for boxes we don't have.

Another gripe - when I first moved here, it took Cablemas more than a month
to transfer my service from my old place. I do a lot of business from home
and need to stay in touch with the world. Felt quite Robinson Crusoe that
first month.

Total monthly price $535 pesos. If I had options for internet service that
were competitive on speed and performance, I would dump Cablemas in a
heartbeat. For the moment it's the only broadband option in town. My other
option is 1.5mb telnor DSL (giggles).
