I ordered Capunet's 384/128 in late February, with gracious help from a couple of sales people who went over the contract and terms with a fine-toothed comb. By email I was told BA would install the loop on March 22, and Covad would show up on March 24. Also included was the IP, gateway #, server #'s, etc. BA missed the appointment but showed up just as the Covad tech arrived on the 24th, so I guess they "coordinated" things. Saturday the 25th I spent half an hour on the phone with a fairly green tech (I'm fairly green myself and I was asking him some pretty basic questions which he didn't grasp) setting things up. Couple of hours after that I was up-measured 320 down, without the rwin tweak. (BTW, it was a static IP, we're 11000 feet from CO, Covad installed a Speedstream 5250, and the company's HQ is 1/2 hour drive away.) Very impressive at first.

It lasted five days, then nothing. Tech issued a trouble ticket. After that, a week and a half of calls to Capunet's techs (30 seconds waiting on the phone for them to pick up-not bad at all!) found them issuing new trouble tickets daily (there was no record of previous ones, even though I spoke with the same tech eight or nine times) and "getting Covad on the line." Both techs agreed it was BA's fault. My second to last call to them found them stymied as to why Covad and BA had different IP addresses for me-they would have to issue a trouble ticket. I've rarely felt such a sense of spinning my wheels for nothing, but if I did not spend two hours on the phone with them daily, they would forget about me. I called and emailed Cust.Serv. yesterday to cancel and no reply yet-maybe Monday I'll have to call them again. I honestly don't think they check their email. From what I've read on DSLReports there are worse horror stories and reviewers have stuck by their ISP's for months-maybe I'm real impatient. I feel like they set me adrift, though.

I would like to share my experience with fellow DSL'ers. I requested service
from Cpu.net on around 6th March'00 and faxed all the stuff in. Sales people
were great - not pushy. But after sending request nothing happened for a
week - subsequently after making 3/4 follow-up calls my order got moving and
got mails from Covad that CO etc is okay and got mail from Capu.net that
service can be installed etc...subsequently after waiting for three weeks
without any warning I get a mail from Covad saying that my order has been
    CANCELLED !!!
So I promptly call Capu.net on 31st and they tell me that because there is
no copper at my CO only fiber...they can't provide ADSL I can choose to
switch to IDSL if I want to ???
I must say that Capu.net has been fair in not charging my credit card
etc...but I kind of feel let down - couldn't they have let me know up-front
    ?

I have been using CapuNet's DSL 384k service for a little over a month.
The experience has been mostly very positive, with the exception of the
    initial Bell Atlantic line installation.

The day of the installation Covad determined that the line was noisy and
had stray voltage on it. They promptly notified Bell Atlantic but
nothing was done until the line failed a week later. After I reported
the problem CapuNet called throughout the day to ascertain if the line
was back up. When it did finally come up they tested it and found it to
be very clean. The fault was with Bell Atlantic. CapuNet devoted their
resources to ensuring their customer was happy, and I am! The line has
been great ever since. Do I like CapuNet? You bet! Here is how I would
    rate their service:

    * * * * * Initial Contact: Very positive.

The Contract term is for 1 year and there is a 30 day satisfaction
    guarantee.

    * * * Installation Preparation: Average

The information packet I received was geared for the installer, not the
end user, but with a little tweaking it would be a good document for all
parties. I have discussed this with my sales rep, Kevin O'Brien, who is
taking steps to see that the packet is improved.

    * * * * * Installation: Positive

The Covad installer had the line set up and tested in very little time.
Even though they are not supposed to configure your Ethernet card my
installer assisted me with setting my system.

    * * * * Tech Support: Very good.

This is not a true 24x7 operation yet. At night they page someone who
will call you back. They do follow up on problems until the customer is
    satisfied.

I am one of the first at my office to get DSL service. Consequently I am
often asked how to choose a carrier, how to set up the computer to work
with the line, and how to share a DSL connection between several
computers. Rather than try to respond to each inquiry I have posted this
information on my own Web site at
www.Eagle-Wing.Net. Just look in the DSL section.

BTW - I have a link to DSL Reports on my site. If you have a logo I can
use I would appreciate it, otherwise I will use the one I plucked from
    the site.

I've signed up for CapuNet residential DSL at Feb 28,
the speed is 384k/128 for $50 per month, 12 month contract.

The Covad guy came on March 25 (saturday) at morning, despite
of the agreement to come afternoon. The installation was OK
until the final testing when it appeared that nobody knows my IP address. It took almost all day to obtain the IP address
from CapuNet tech.support and finally at evening all started to work. But with too low download speed (about 30 - 33 kbit/s) and great upload speed (about 280 kbit/s).

The ping with packet length more then 2000 bytes loses more
    then 90% of packets.

I tested that in both Win98 and Linux.

The Covad says all is OK and it's probably a wrong configuration of CapuNet's router, CapuNet just says nothing.

I didn't get any responce by e-mail from CapuNet about my problem yet. Completely disappointed with CapuNet technical
support and just considering the switch to another ISP.

I got DSL for my home from CapuNet last week and it's great! The sales
staff was extremely knowledgeable and could probably work in the tech
    department.
I got on DSLreports to research which ISP was the best and found CapuNet.
After doing a pre-qualification on CapuNet's web site I got a call within
the hour. The sales person explained in great detail what DSL is, how it
works and what we would need to get it installed. He answered all questions
my husband and myself had and explained the process of installation from the
    start to the finish.

When it came time (3 weeks later), for DSL to be installed in our home the
Covad representative could not get the modem to work. When we called the
tech support at CapuNet they fixed it within minutes and we were up with
    blazing speeds on the web.

We got a 384K and are extremely pleased with the set-up and CapuNet's staff.
If you are in the market to purchase a DSL connection we highly recommend
CapuNet to be your provider. They walked us all the way through the process
    from start to finish!

    384/128

DSL Rocks. Totally great experience with Capunet. I called Capunet one day to see if DSL was available in my area. The Sales rep told me immediately whether it was available and how far I was from the CO(relatively speaking). He e-mailed the sign-up form to me which arrived in less than 5 minutes. I filled it out and sent it back in the same day. About 1 week later I received an email confirming my BA loop date and my Covad install date. The BA date was in 1 more additional week with the Covad date roughly 5-6 days later. I had 3,000 questions during that week of waiting and the sales rep was great in answering my questions and awesome in pretending that I wasn't a real pain in the ass!! The day BEFORE BA was supposed to come out, I received a phone call from the Covad installer. He told me that he was running ahead of schedule for the week and wondered if I wanted it installed today. Unfortunately I had to tell him that BA hadn't been there yet. He told me to call his cell phone as soon as I had word from BA that the loop was in place and he would come out pretty much any time I wanted. The day after BA was supposed to make the loop, I called my sales rep who read me the report from BA. Everything was cool! Woohoo!! I immediately called the Covad guy and told him. He said he could be at my house in about 1 hour. Boom, I'm outa work and headed home. Covad shows up right on time(6 days early). He does his wiring at the NID and comes inside to wire up in there. He tells me that the DSL modem I was supposed to get really isn't that great and that he is going to give me a much better modem instead. I'm thinking this is cool. Takes him maybe 30 minutes to completely hook up inside. Well, since I was 6 days early, I didn't have my e-mail yet with all my DNS information. I called my sales rep who put me onto tech support. No waiting involved. The guy in tech gave me all my info right over the phone. Covad talked to Capunet tech at the same time to confirm they were both seeing each other over the lines and checking connection speed. In and out, badah bing badah boom. He was gone and all I had to do was set up my machine. The modem came with software which I assumed had to be installed on my machine. Like an idiot, I read the destructions and tried to follow them. No luck, I couldn't get it to connect for nothing. I called Capunet tech support and was on hold for maybe a couple minutes at most. When I explained to him what I was doing, he told me that I didn't need to do all that. Just enter your DNS info in my "network" crap on my machine and launch a browser. Wham, I'm online immediately(10 minutes). I've been online now for about a month and a half and have loved every minute of it. I do a bandwidth speed test every day and I think the minimum rate has been 330kbps. Usually around 350-360kbps. Not bad when I was promised 80% of 384. I guess there are exceptions to every rule and maybe I am it but, 5 stars across the board for Capunet. What a great experience, kick dial-up right in the ass!!

I faxed my order for 384/128 ADSL on Feb. 3rd and today, Feb. 24th I'm up and running. Pretty cool.

Apparently, CapuNet had my email address wrong on the order so I wasn't getting the email updates telling me how things were going but they responded to my inquiries quickly so it was okay. I think BA dropped another line from the pole to my house but they did it without me ever knowing.

The Covad guy came on time and was here less than 15 minutes. They ran out of the simple DSL modems so he hooked me up with at FlowPoint 2200 router/hub so that's good. I don't know much about all this stuff but the router indicates it's for SDSL so I seem to be getting fairly high upload speeds in addition to download.

So far CapuNet support has been great and the service has been fine (it's only my first day). I'm really impressed considering some of the stories I've heard posted here.

I'll give five stars in all categories. After reading your horror
reviews about Bell Atlantic, I was amazed how easily and smoothly the
CapuNet process went. Covad came one day after Bell tagged the line.
Installation of the modem was quick and efficient. CapuNet tech help
gave me (no waiting) by phone the settings for TCP/IP. It worked on the
first try, and so far, absolutely no problems. Anyone in the
Washington, DC area who wants DSL should consider contacting CapuNet.
