I am a board member of a 500 unit condo in River North and we have had SilverIP as our exclusive ISP for the last five years. Our contract was coming up a few months ago so our internet committee explored all of the possible alternatives (Comcast, AT&T, RCN, AM3 and some smaller companies) and spoke with all these companies to get competing proposals. At the end of the day, none of these guys could beat the speed SilverIP is giving us (100 megabits) and we couldn't get comfortable in any of them matching the customer support we get. AM3 takes several days to respond to some service requests and Comcast doesn't even provide much additional benefit for getting a bulk contract!

When we held our community meeting to discuss the internet options, several residents who never even come to these meetings appeared and spoke up about how the SilverIP reps have been so helpful and come out to fix their computer problems even beyond just the internet. I have to agree because every interaction with their reps has been pleasant - they are professional, very respectful, and a bunch of smart guys! Even the owners constantly come themselves to make sure things are running smoothly and ask what they can improve.

Fantastic internet speed, don't have to wait too long on phone when I call
Wish they offered Cable TV so I didn't have to deal with Comcast
Keep it up!

SilverIP started providing service to my condo building about 8 months ago and all the residents have the option of plugging into them. I was hesitant to switch my internet over since I had not heard of silverip before, but several of my neighbors said they were pretty good. I switched over a few months ago and noticed my internet was several times faster than before which made me very happy. Then the reason I was really impressed and the reason I am writing this review - my internet went down due to my own router being messed up... I called their customer support thinking I have to sit on the phone for 45 mins and they would charge me some big fee to come out and fix it BUT I waited on the phone for only 2 minutes, then the representative diagnosed my router over the phone quickly and said someone needs to come to my apt - and they came the same day and fixed my issue - the same day! I have rarely seen any service provider react so quickly and be so helpful. This is the kind of service everyone should have.

Since my internet doesn't work I've caught up on a few books
everything. unreal bad, this is just insane
Down more often than up. Terrible.

SilverIP offered free internet for a month at the apartment I recently moved
into. After one week my roommates and I were calling Comcast begging them to
arrive as quickly as possible which unfortunately took another week. The
internet service provided by SilverIP is unbelievably bad. By this I mean
very seriously that I would never have guessed that internet service this
bad could be found anywhere in the world. The internet service at our
apartment is down more often than it is up. I say this without any
exaggeration. As I am typing this the internet is again down and I will
likely have to stare at the screen for another 5 minutes before the internet
is up and I can send this email and then after the internet goes down again
I'll have to wait another 5 minutes to make sure the email went through. I
feel as though I am being taunted - just as I am about to click a link to
get to the last page of something and finish up whatever I'm doing the
internet goes down. There's no reason for this at all. We're not using
extreme amounts of bandwidth or torrenting files. The internet doesn't work
directly plugged into an ethernet jack, no wireless is involved. Outages are
every two or three minutes, which I find odd, I could understand less frequent
outages for longer lengths of time but the internet goes out for a few minutes all day long.

Calling SilverIP resulted in them thinking we wanted to start service with them when
it was clearly explained that no, we have your internet service and it does
not work. After this there was just no reason to bother trying to fix it -
we'll move on and be much happier for it.

In practice the internet service provided is almost unusable. This raises a
number of interesting questions. Why offer the service to new tenants at
this apartment complex when they will surely be appalled by how ridiculously
terrible it is? Does SilverIP really expect people to say "Well, the
internet never works but I've already had it for a month, why not start
paying for it.". It just doesn't make sense. SilverIP must know that there
internet service is like this so I would expect them to hide the fact and
make people sign long contracts. It also raises the question of if the
offices of SilverIP actually use their own internet service - they are
forced to choose between saving face and getting anything done.

Speed on speedtest.net is measured at 1.26Mb/s down and 1.01Mb/s up. It's ok
when it does work but not great.
