26 December 2021

Ten years an Anveo customer, still very satisfied.

21 February 2020

I realised that Anveo is now my longest duration telephone provider. I spent 6 years with Bell, no real problems except lack of features and cost. I then spent 7 years with Vonage which was mostly trouble free and certainly cheaper than Bell, but financial issues prompted me to look for something cheaper and I found VoIP and VoIP.ms came to the rescue. It was a good intro, but after 2 years of annoying issues and poor support (I understand that things have improved) I was ready for another change and Anveo was it. I've now been with Anveo more than 8 years and cannot imagine ever moving on.

23 April 2019

More than 7 years with Anveo now. I'll soon need to sign up for another year of service (at a discount for buying a year at a time) and have no qualms about doing that. Anveo has become a trusted supplier in my life, one less thing to worry about.

3 May 2017

More of the same. Uninterrupted service always there when you need it.

24 December 2015

Another uneventful year of trouble-free service from Anveo. Dull to read about, but great to live with.

24 December 2014

I've now been with Anveo for 3 years (today). Still very happy with the service. Trouble free, inexpensive and packed with features.

15 June 2013

I had an Anveo account for a long while before actually porting my number to them using the "free" porting offer. The porting process itself was easy and painless and completed in 6 days. The "free' porting offer itself did not drive my decision to port to Anveo, I had already decided to do it and it was just a small unexpected bonus.

My wife had been (very) unhappy with our previous provider, incoming calls going straight to voicemail and outgoing calls that didn't connect or had terrible audio and she really wanted to go back to Bell, but I managed to persuade her to let me give Anveo a try. Fortunately they have not let us down, Anveo just works.

Sound quality is excellent and, for a Canadian it's hard to beat the price. We have the unlimited incoming option, E911 and a small amount of outgoing, we rarely spend more than $4 per month.

Anveo's website attracts a lot of comments, positive and negative, but I find it generally easy to use, I do occasionally have to search to find what I want, but it's always there.

Support - on the one occasion I needed it the response was rapid and to the point. The support engineer understood what I was asking and his reply completely answered my question.

Overall I have been using Anveo as my main provider for 10 months and I am a very satisfied customer.

Still working like a charm for me also

Sorry for "hijacking" your review. DSLR don't allow me to review Anveo and they have removed my previous review from my list of reviews.

Anyway, I like to add that both my Anveo Retail and Anveo Direct accounts also work extremely well for me.

I just like to point out the "Call Flow for Outbound Calls" feature in Anveo Retail, a feature many customers may be unaware of. With the "Call Flow for Outbound Calls" feature you can use your Anveo Retail account and make your outbound calls via other providers like Anveo Direct, SIPSorcery, CallWithUs, Callcentric, Alcazarnetworks, Flowroute, VoIP.ms and other providers.

The "Call Flow for Outbound Calls" feature is very useful and works like a charm.

No reason or notice has been given. The link under my avatar just disappeared and my review is hidden. I can edit the review but it's still hidden for others.

I did update my Anveo review shortly after this review and it never appeared.

No problem at all Arne. It was because of your enthusiasm for Anveo that I tried them in the first place.

I don't use Call Flow for Outbound Calls much, but I do have 8 flows set up which get occasional use. As far as I'm aware it's a feature unique to Anveo.

Works Great

I would concur that both Anveo Retail and Direct work great. I use Anveo Retail for incoming calls and Anveo Direct for both incoming and outgoing calls. I have never had a problem.

Some people on here complain about the limited support tickets at Anveo. In the 4 months or so I have been using Anveo, I have never had a need to open a support ticket.

Re: Comments to Review: Anveo Great and Reliable Product

Tickets are the only means of communication. They are responsive but it sometimes takes a bit of back and forth to clarify things before a question is fully answered. Documentation is weakest link with information hard to find and not always up to date. Call flow functionality is quite amazing. Cost is low but will be unpredictable unless you have a very good sense of what your activity will be. I wish they hosted a dedicated forum as a community is really essential with a product like Anveo.

This review disappeared due to age so I decided to update it. I don't think I've touched my Anveo Direct configuration in that time. It just keeps on working without having to mess with it. I primarily do termination to Canada and use the Iristel routes for 90+% of my calls. Audio quality is consistently good and latency is very acceptable. The ability to have audio travel directly between your phone and the carrier, and the ability to select specific carriers, is so valuable, both in the ability to consistently provide high quality phone service, and (in theory) for ease of troubleshooting (although I never do any troubleshooting because it always "Just Works"). Anveo Direct would be a bargain, even at more sane rates.

--

I primarily use Anveo Direct, because I own a PBX which takes care of the call routing features I would otherwise use Anveo Retail for. Direct's call termination services are extremely configurable. I can choose a specific carrier I want to use, configure least cost routing in many different ways, view a SIP trace for each call, and most importantly, configure audio to travel directly from the carrier to my phone. This results in extremely low latency.

I can also selectively block specific routes. If a particular carrier's route is not working properly, I can just use a different one. Fortunately, I have never had any need to do this.

As for Anveo Retail, it remains the only PAYG service provider that offers automatic geographic redundancy.

I often see people complain that Anveo's website is complex or that their user interface is difficult to use. I found it no more difficult to learn than any other service provider. In fact I timed myself the first time I used it. It took me under 8 minutes to go from zero to having a working phone with voicemail. (I deleted the default call flow because I wanted to see if I could set it up intuitively.) True, anything could be made simpler, but I can think of no way to do so while maintaining the level of control users currently have. If you require a VoIP service provider that is extremely reliable, cost-effective, and has features that make call routing as close as possible to limitless, I think Anveo is the one.

I have been using Anveo for more than 3 months (08/2011).
Anveo is a very unique VOIP company providing wide range of services with flexible plans starting $1.49/mo DID (40 min/day included) and 1c/min US outgoing calls.
All rates and charges are clearly posted.
Configuring soft phone and ATAs are straight forward.
Call qualities and other features such as Fax to email have been very reliable.
Technical supports are very prompt and knowledgeable.

(10/26/2012) I have been using Anveo for more than 1 year, Anveo has been very reliable and cost effective for small businesses. Ordered office unlimited with free porting, everything went smoothly. Call quality has been great, couldn't be more happier.

I switched to Anveo around 6 months ago. So far it has been a great service for the price. Everything is working great and I think that it is the most affordable and reliable business VOIP provider. Although they could try to make the service a bit easier to use with some tutorials or a wiki for their features because it takes time to learn what they do. But overall, Anveo is great. 11/10 would use again.

I've used Anveo for a few years now. During the last week, for 12 hours, I was receiving no SMS messages on my Anveo account. I figured the solution would be as simple as filing a ticket. I was wrong.

Do you want to file a "Prime ticket"? Sorry, it's not in your plan. In other words, if you want 0-4 hour responses to a ticket, you plan probably doesn't cover this. So fine, then you have to file a "Regular ticket", with a 8-24 hour response time. Maybe Anveo will deal with it sooner, maybe not. And as an addition, that's the only ticket you can file in that severity for the entire month. Your next ticket gets a "24 hours or more" response time, even if it is an Anveo outage!

Want G.729? That's $8 a month. Want SMS via SIP? It's the same.

If you fully understand the pricing structure, and if you understand that you will not be able to file tickets for critical issues with a reasonable response time, it's a fine service.

Update (17 May 2016): I'm still using Anveo Retail for a single DID. The pricing structure is still very arcane, but service is reliable and SMS over SIP is a nice feature. I'm now using Anveo Direct for several other DIDs, and for termination. The real value in Anveo's offerings is with the Anveo Direct service - the flexibility and termination rates can't be beat.

Many thanks for your review. However;

Many thanks for your review. I am sorry to hear about SMS issue on your number. However, I would like to take a moment and respond to some points in your message.

Reliability: Over the last 18 months Anveo had ZERO outages. Not many VOIP providers are able to accomplish that.

SMS: I hope you understand that incoming SMS are handled by underlying CLEC. We have monitoring in place which constantly monitors SMS traffic in bulk for all 3 underlying CLECs (upstream and downstream) we are using. However, if there is SMS issue with a particular phone number then we need to be informed by the end user so we can contact underlying carrier and have them address the issue.

Support Tickets: Support tickets are allocated based on the subscription package. If a user on the Free subscription package then support level we offer is limited. However, we also have a policy to "refund" tickets if the issue was caused by underlying carrier or Anveo. Feel free to PM your ticket number and I will personally review it.

Features (G.729 and SMS to SIP): You are saying that G.729 is $8/month and 'SMS to SIP' is the same. However, Anveo Features are bundled into Subscription Packages and we show what features are included in subscription packages at »www.anveo.com/consumer/s ··· vice.asp . The Starter package ( the one that you refer to as $8/month) includes a lot more than just G.729 and 'SMS to SIP'.

For example; the Starter package also offers, 'Email to FAX', 'SMS to Email', Google Analytics integration, larger Call Flows, more Support Tickets, 'Dial by Name' feature, 'Voicemail to Text' Transcriptions etc. I am pretty confident that you will NOT find another VOIP provider offering the same set of features for $8 per month.

'Value for Money': It is a very subjective metric, however, considering what kind of feature Anveo offers, 100% uptime, complete geo. redundant infrastructure with fully automatic failover and low rates I think Anveo service provides outstanding Value for Money.

You are saying that "Other providers have better reliability and pricing". Would you please share a list of providers with similar set of features (IVR, SMS to SIP, FAXing etc) and better pricing? For example not many VOIP providers even offer SMS and 'SMS to SIP' is so rare that I only know only 1 retail VOIP provider besides Anveo which offers it.

Anveo was dirt cheep and reliable

We used Anveo for a year or two and it was only about $2.60 per month total for a basic VoIP line with free incoming calls and $0.01/min. outgoing calls (I used Google voice so we hardly used outgoing calls). This included the federally-required E911 service fee. I found an even cheaper provider ($0.99/mo.) but we may switch back to Anveo since they were more reliable.

After 4 years as an anveo customer recently had temp assigned number drop from system after having the standard 3 month payment deducted.
Filed support ticket, no problem right?
No response. Filed second ticket asking for extension of supposed 'special rate' of $49.95 to canuck subscribers via obihai.
Zero reply.

Now dumping anveo. Not worth the headaches. Very quick to grab your cash and impossible/no support numbers or emails in reply, zero support from this lousy service.

Downtime? Lots of problems with the montreal based canuck service. Downtimes of at least a day once a month or more.
Denial seems the vogue. Don't answer tickets, don't service and then claim its 99% uptime.

Re: Anveo offers zero support

What other option is there for Canadians that offer SMS to SIP-Canadian Area Code DIDs?
It seems that without Google voice really servicing Canadian DIDs let alone porting, that the Canadian market would be a priority for Anveo, but if they outsource their Canadian server, and it doesn't have good fail-over... Then?.. Maybe it's not worth it. I was just about to put down the $80 for the year.

I went for the Personal Plan, with unlimited incoming (I spend a ton of time on conf calls where I can have the bridge dial me back) and prepaid for 1 yr + E911 the cost is ~2.60USD/mth. Plus outgoing minutes....for which I actually found Circlenet.us at the moment to be cheaper.
I love the IVR - and played with it extensivelly - and the blocklist.

Call quality is top notch and for the few cases where I had to engage support (interop with CallCentric and CSIPSimple issues) I got a solution within 24 hrs. Can't complain.

Bottom line: I totally recommended Anveo to co-workers and friends, not so much for the referral bonus but because I believe the service is good.

Good Quality, can't beat the price

Ported my home phone in two months ago from VoIP.MS. Porting processes was smooth and quick.

Call quality is always good to excellent.

Portal is confusing, and (on my plan at least) they charge for support, so you may find yourself on your own, but with some googling around I was able to answer my own questions.

Re: Good Quality, can't beat the price

It was a learning curve for me as well but I now have a flow plan that only goes straight to my sip device if the caller is in the directory, otherwise it requires entering a digit to go through. If they are marked as spam, they get a robo voice telling them they shouldn't be here and it then disconnects them. I do not use goodies as it creates a delay. I simply do not accept fax via this account. I have FOIP with t.38fax.com for fax thank you.

I do have one subaccount with a second DID. The trick is to make sure your voicemail box has a different number if you want separate boxes so you can distinguish them, eg primary account call it box 100, second voicemail call it 101.

For the directory, create a group called shared and share it. Everything in the main account that is shared is seen by the subaccount. To log into the subaccount, go to subaccounts and in the action dropdown menu to the left, pick logon as user. When you log out it returns you to the primary account.

20160709 - UPDATE - Anveo Direct has explained what happened in a recent case in which an account was driven to a negative balance. The negative balance was primarily caused by penalties incurred due to 'short calls' IAW their TOS, _not_ due to a failure to promptly check the available balance. Their system worked correctly, and my paranoia and 20160705 update was proved unfounded. They're back on my 'Good Guys' list and I've restored their priority in my outbound sequence for all servers. They provided me great detail of their internal processing that was indeed impressive.

20160705 - UPDATE When a provider _offers_ exposure limits, then does not _actively_ implement/execute them, they have failed in _reasonable_ expectations of their fiduciary responsibilities. I must remove AnveoDirect from recommended providers. I will have to remove them from my termination routes.

20160513 - UPDATE - Anveo Direct DIDs are now suitable for 'critical', primary use for the 'small-scale' user (IMHO). Anveo has eliminated the expensive (for small-scale folks) fail-over service option and is now including no-extra-charge SIP URI fail-over as part of basic services. I'm adding more Anveo Direct DIDs and putting them as primary incoming routes; I think that qualifies as a recommendation!

20160119 - UPDATE - Surprising reliability and stability given my blatant mis-use of Anveo Direct. Well worth every penny I have allocated to them! I will note that even though my users understand that there is no enabled fail-over, they tend to choose my 'cheap' 'secondary' Anveo Direct DIDs _first_, they tell me, because of the general quality, clarity and reliability they have experienced. I think that may be a good recommendation.

20150522 - To be up front, I (mis-)use the _Anveo Direct_ wholesale service for residential purposes which skews my evaluation somewhat. Anveo Direct provides cheap DIDs and termination services which have been very reliable for me. The cost to purchase fail-over protection is prohibitive for small (and unintended) users like me ;( although I understand it may be _quite reasonable_ for the large-scale user in their intended market! I use the termination services with great joy!!!. But, due to the cost of DID fail-over protection, I run without it and therefore only use their DIDs for non-critical or alternative inbound services for my small family-oriented 'hobby' PBX systems.
