I was fed up from the run around given to me by larger provider, someone recommended me to try Gemstelecom, I was hesitant to call then when I did, I wish I had done it before. I ordered 5MB and then got a deal offer from Gemstelecom for 10MB, could not refuse and happy that I accepted. Install day came one day earlier than I expected, The tech showed up early in the morning and was able to check my email with Gemstelecom connect, I received all new hardware with complete instructions, Gemstelecom is the best they made my day.

Even though my connection started a day early I was billed from the day after so I get one free day, small amount but a big gesture, Gemstelecom is the best.

I was in rush for moving, called my old ISP and placed a moving order, after 10 days found that my order was still pending.

Called these guys and got everything up and running at my new place,

Tech even came to setup my devices and made sure everything is working.
Already recommended to few of my friends.

Have a business in Laval and Drummondville, we were searching for a provider who can provide us Stable connection with static IP. Found that these guys are only one other then Videotron who can provide Static IP on Cable Network, plus they were able to provide service in Cogeco covered area. Which I was told recently added.

We have Internet, 3 phones lines on each site plus Fax to email service from Gemstelecom, it has just been a month but so for so good, speed is good and get support as required.

Just to mention that they provide very easy to use fax to email service.

I signed up for Gemstelecom for my business in the Montreal area. 2 weeks
later and I have yet to have my installation done and they no longer return
my phone calls. The first question I asked even prior to cost was how fast
the installation could be done. I was assured they would meet my deadline
with time to spare. The original install date I was given was perfect and I
had an employee wait at the new office. When the technician arrived he did
not have the necessary equipment for the install as Gemstelecom had labeled
my install as "residential". I was given a date for try #2. This date has
since been pushed forward and I am now being told they will call me back
when they have a date for me. There is no manager to talk to (I have been on
hold for 45 minutes now because I am not hanging up without speaking to
one.) This is an extremely unprofessional company. They should not be
dealing with companies.

Gemstelecom

We have Business services with Gemstelecom for years and we love it.

This is what happens when you give wrong information, if you give wrong info just get the Residential price for Business then you should expect these delays, If Videotron sent you Residential technician that means you registered as Residential client, do your homework before you get a service from any ISP. Seems like you are to be blamed for your own delays.

Re: Gemstelecom

I too had issues with residential versus business service. I followed the instructions of the sales person to the letter and was diligent in following up with my account. They blamed it on my organization completely. I have no issue taking blame where blame is due. If a representative of the company gives false information that leads to costly delays, they rectify the situation. I had much better service with Electronic Box. They cover the same areas and will match the prices of Gemstelecom. They are much more professional when dealing with companies.

Bad "nothing so far"
Overall "worth considering, specially with no install fee and free modem"

I switched to Gemstelecom last spring, and was lucky to catch their unlimited 8/1 (now 10/1.5) cable plan for 40$ a month (46$ with taxes). I signed for a one year contract, which meant no install fee, free modem and free router, a significant saving specially if you don't already own a cable modem (which I did not).

The modem is a Motorola SB5101N, the router is a TP-link TL-WR740N 150M Wireless Lite N (cheap N router worth around 25$, but still faster than the old G router I had). Install coordination was great. I had asked to delay for a month to cancel my DSL and then reschedule install because something came up at the last minute, and they did it no problem. On install day, after the videotron guy left, my connection was on in 3 hours. I did not give 100% on pre-sales info because they had not mentionned in advance then that they charged 10$ for modem and router shipping (it's now on their website).

Connection speed is as mentionned (10/1.5) and stable.

When I had to call them, it was quick to speak to someone knowledgeable.

Et ils peuvent vous servir en français.

If you don't own a cable modem, and want to save on install fees, you should take a look at them.

So I can tell they answer emails quickly, although no definite answers are provided.

I signed up with them at the end of January, and cancelled the order today with no service nor an install date.

So I can't comment on speed, reliability or any aspect of their Internet service.

Would suggest going with ElectronicBox or Teksavvy for similar amounts and more bandwidth.
