  • Cost: $24 per month (12 month contract)
Tech support is decent, has instant config for Cisco SPA adapters, provides free VoIP adapter
Phone features could use some improvement, lacking setup guides for other adapters
1-VoIP's prices can't be beat if paying in advance.

While 1-VoIP may not have all the bells and whistles with their call features compared to my previous VoIP provider, I can say that they have the most reasonable price all around and you can actually call and talk to a real human if you need tech support. If you don't mind paying in advance for a year's worth of service, their price can't be beaten either.

Another good feature is that they will allow you to BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) if you have one however, they will also send you one for free if you need one granted you don't mind shipping it back to them if you ever decide to go with a different provider.

I previously mentioned that the call quality has been pristine however, lately, people I have called have complained about my voice being garbled for short stints of time (1-2 mins). This usually happens on lengthy calls but it gets annoying when the other person tells you to hold off talking until it clears up. I don't recall this happening when I first signed up for 1-Voip but this has been something that started recently. I attempted to troubleshoot the issue with 1-Voip but they were unable to resolve the problem. I do believe the issue is on their end as I have 1 Gbit Fiber at my house and the issue only happens once every 20 to 30 mins during phone calls. As such, I am marking the Call Quality on this review from 5 to just 3.

At this time, I am looking for service with better call quality but it seems that many VoIP providers seem to have quality issues these days from all the reviews I have read.

For my first attempt of a 3rd party Voip line pretty good.

I was using Cox Business and decided to switch to Cox residential. The phone line I had with Cox was not portable to the residential side as it was a business line (was not aware of that). No biggie. At first I decided to setup just Internet access and forgo the phone line as I don't use it a lot.

A day later, I started to look at various 3rd party Voip providers and decided to give 1-Voip a try.

Setup was done on a Saturday, line was available right away though I did have to wait for the hardware device they shipped to me to use the existing phone I already had (not an IP phone).

Using their website, I was able to easily configure the account, setup call forwarding and other basic features.

Though I had used a softphone before (at work) I had never done that with my computer at home or cell phone. I eventually gave that a try and have Zoiper on my main workstation and phone though the use on the computer is a bit redundant as that is where the phone is located.

Other Comments:
o Picked the Value month to month plan.
o They do have a prepaid year plan, but I was not sure if I was going to like it so did month to month.
o They provided a Free to use Linksys SPA-2102 2 line device (Return if I cancel the account)
o Service includes up to 500mins outgoing per month, no limit incoming
o Device took 3 days to get here via FedEx.
o Easy to install device, no real configuration needed.
o I have a 150/10 Internet package and no issues with Voip use
o Line quality has been fine, similar to Cox's

They do not have a mobile version of their website, but I don't need to go there often so no big deal.

Service and support (had a few questions) were quick and to the point.
