    Beware of Intrcom online!
    To a customer of Intercom Online;
Dear Sir or Madam; I am witting that letter to you so you can be warned with my experience with Intercom Online.
Couple of years ago of had to establish connection from my small business to the Internet. I looked for ISP provider. So happed that my previous ISP INYC sold business to Intercom Online. I was very happy with INYC so naturally I expected same level of service. I was very mistaken.
They provided a contract where I had to pay over $5000 a year for 380kbps connection. That is over 4 times more then anywhere else. Trusting my previous vendor, I did sign the contract. Contract stated that I should pay a year in advance.
After the couple of weeks, line was delivered, and hell started. T1 was going down almost every month. My customers were telling me to fix the roof every time when rained connection was out. When contract was about over I let them know that I am canceling the service. Then without my permission, they took money from my account, which I did not notice in time. I call that theft.
Do I have proof of every word I say? Yes, just call me 848-565-1712.
Please call me anytime you want.
    Regards,
    Jacek

I joined iNYC three years ago when my company requested that we retire our ISDN lines for something less expensive. At this time, the only available DSL provider in our area with a reasonable cost was iNYC with $99/month for 256K SDSL. Staff at iNYC were very competent and professional and I have nothing but high regard for this company. I had no problems signing a 2 year contract with iNYC. In addition, I paid $300 to relocate this line to my new house in December of 2001.

However, just over year ago, Intercom Online has purchased iNYC. I find the service horrendous and their prices outrageous. We would have intermittent outages without any prior warnings. Our billing was changed so that we are charge a month in advanced. Additional fees were stacked on the bill bringing the cost up to about $110 a month. Customer service is very difficult to work with and their is very little communication from the company to their customers. Except for a notice that we were being charged a month earlier for our service, we hadn't received a correspondence from Intercom Online since July of 2003 and this was a post maintenance notice.

My company has lowered their reimbursement rate for DSL to just $30/month. We were forced to switch providers and have decided to go with Verizon. Our speed is 3x as fast and we pay only $34/month.

As a result, I contacted Intercom Online to request cancellation of my account. What a nightmare. We had met our 2 year agreement and then some. It will actually be 3 years tomorrow. According to their sales staff who intercepted my cancellation request after a phone call and email, I was a long standing stellar customer who they did not want to lose. They really cannot match Verizon's price/speed so it was no question, we needed to terminate our service. We followed all their rules, faxed in our request to cancel and returned our DSL Pipe all at the start of June. As I expected they continued billing my credit card for services I was not receiving and now the kicker they sent us a bill for $500 saying we broke our service agreement! Can you believe it? One day we are stellar customers, the next they want more money and for what, for being good customers and sticking with them for so long paying their outrageous prices.

Apparently, unbeknownst to us, they automatically renewed our service in December 2003, 2 and a half years after our service had started , for another 2 years and now that want us to pay.

I'm really disappointed. What started out as a good relationship would end in such a way.

    Disgruntled Massachusetts customer.

    Go Sox!

Good service. Good speed. Customer service, support, accounting -- they are all very courteous and helpful. I have service at my home and my company has service with Intercom. My company is ordering several DSL lines from Intercom for key executives. In my experience, companies such as AT&T and Covad do not have the high level of customer care that Intercom has. I recommend Intercom to anyone looking for great all-around Internet service.

As an update :When our power was restored after the black out, ourrouter was useless due to a spike of electricity. Intercom was able to replace our router in a surprising amount of time, espescially since I know some of my friends had similar issues and were without service for a longer amount of time then I was while connected to different ISPs.

We are still very pleased with the service we have been receiving, bandwidth is

available when we need it, thats what we pay for.

This is the 4th line my company installed with Intercom. We ordered a 2.0 SDSL line. Speed is great. Installation within about 22 days. We have had the service for about 2 months now. Everything was pretty fast and easy. I was guided along the way. We have dealt with other providers in the past, but no one beats Intercom when it comes to service, speed of installation, people that care, etc. For this 4th line I was told by my boss to look around at other ISPs in the NYC area and I looked at the 3-4 independent ISPs in NYC and none of them even satisfied me from the pre-sales perspective. The competitors were a few dollars cheaper but half-baked with everything else. If an ISP in NY cannot handle your pre-sales queries, what hope is there that they can handle the more difficult stuff later on. After doing price comparisons, information comparisons, etc. I can say that Intercom is all-around the best. And, they are very flexible with their contract and billing terms. I signed a 2 year commitment on this line, and i prepaid the 1st year [and got a few months free] and i will prepay the second year at the end of the first year of service. You don't find alot of companies ready to work with you.

after a terrible experience with a prominent ISP, i was seeking service from a more personable ISP that would for once understand the requirements of a small business. I came acrosss Intercom Online from conducting an online search and saw that they had many positive reviews and decided to give them a try. Their salesperson was most knowledgable, friendly and very attentive to my needs and was able to explain the exact install procedure down to a tee. I always received a prompt response from them with my many questions whilst i was waiting for the line to be installed and i remember that i was always speaking to a live person as opposed to leaving messages or waiting on hold for ages - this is quite rare indeed in these types of companies. I must say their website is very informative and answered all of my questions, and can you believe it that they're nationwide and offer a true two way satellite service! Very impressive!

The whole install process took only just over 2 weeks and i was sure that there would be problems but to my surprise Intercom performed a smooth, wonderful and painless install. My IPs were ready and configured and all i had to was connect my LAN and i was good to go. I had a few questions regarding the setup and their Support staff was great in walking me through the problem.

The line is working great and i only had one instance when it went down but Intercom was able to resolve this very quickly and bring it back up in next to no time, i'm constantly getting fast and consistent speeds. It brings me great piece of mind knowing that i have a reliable service provider like Intercom Online whom i don't have to worry about and have the confidence to use their services to run my business from.

A true pleasure dealing with them and i wish all other companies were like them, i highly recommend them to anyone.

"A reliable, stable connection that is"

This reveiw is for a Frac T-1 Line..NOT a DSL...Qwest is the network provider, and Verizon is the local Telco that did the install at this end. The speed is a rock-solid 750k up and down all of the time thru a Cisco 1700 router that was purchased used off of E-Bay. I have 5 machines hooked up to it (peer-to-peer) thru Symantec Firwall/VPN 200R appliance..which is tunneled to another one of our offices 24/7.

The install was very easy.....I sent them a Cisco Router..they sent it back already configured....and when it didn't work (wasn't configured properly)..the support folks walked me thru configuring/programming a router that I didn't even purchase from them..that is above and beyond as far as I am concerned...I have had the service for 14 months now....and the only time there was really any trouble was when lighting hit a "repeater" up the street from my office....Before I even called Intercom Online for support....the local Telco repairman was knocking on the door to tell me that they were aware of the problem and I would be back "up" within 1 hour..which I was. Pretty good response! There have been other times when I thought I had problems, but they ended up being network configuration problems on my end..however during those times (and this was when I first had the service, and knew absolutely NOTHING about I.P.'s and subnets, etc) it seems that Tech Support was hard to get a hold of, especially if you tried to get them after 5:00 eastern...recently, though, when I thought I had a problem with the included nationwide dial-up, I emailed my concerns at 12:30am and I had a response from them time stamped at 1:45am when I came back to my office the next morning....The problem was on my end (numlock pressed on laptop..so password was not being typed correctly)....but Zeeshan and his support staff just helped me thru these types of problems without saying "hey, the problem is not with our service"!

After reading some of the other responses here...it amazes me that people complain about a contract that THEY themselves signed....I was taught at a very early age..READ BEFORE YOU SIGN.....I had several questions about my service contract, which were properly addressed BEFORE I SIGNED THE CONTRACT...therefore, the service that Intercom Online has provided has been as it was represented....and in my humble opinion, probably a little higher level of customer service than I expected!

I guess we need Congress to pass a law that if you are too impatient, lazy, ignorant or whatever to READ BEFORE YOU SIGN, then you should NOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY OF YOUR OWN ACTIONS....GEEZ...get a life folks, and take responsibility for your own actions!

    Again...I highly recommend these guys!

    update....

I have had some responses that indicate that this service is very pricey.....and maybe it is, but. I get CONSISTENT DSLReports Speed test results in the 750 kbps...all the time....and my office (here in my home),,is in the middle of no where, on 40 acres and the house is 1/2 mile from the road...I had satellite (Starband) for 1 year...it was TERRIBLE...and there is no dsl available out here....we now have a local company providing fixed wireless...and it is fair (i actually sometimes get speeds better than the Frac T-1 line...but not always..and there are also complete drop-outs on the fixed wireless)..I use that service as a backup and in load sharing thru the Symantec Firewall/VPN 200R appliance.....I priced MANY other full T-1's and Frac T-1's before I signed on with Intercom..they were the winner..everybody else advertised (just like intercom online) FULL T-1 for $400...but not out here! When the actual quote came in it was anywhere between same monthly PLUS an install..to $1600/mo plus loop....Expensive to get this type of service out in the middle of no where! Beleive me...I would love to only pay $50/mo......but I have to have quality service for the work I do!

Our initial experience with Intercom was volatile when I attempted to upgrade to higher speeds. However, our move to new offices went very smoothly thanks to Zeeshan Haider, our sales rep (highly recommended). The switchover from one service to the next was flawless, and the few tech support issues we had early on were resolved very quickly. Speed has been excellent and very reliable. One or two minor outages but probably because we work until all hours of the night. Also a few minor problems with the SMTP email server, but again quickly resolved. Intercom is highly recommended.

would just like to start off by saying DSL is sweet as apple pie. If you want something that won't clear your pockets and won't give you headaches its defintly DSL. It was a pleasure dealing with Intercom online during the 'waiting days'. It still is a pleasure. Great fast install, fast dsl line - awesome services.

    Just a note.

Work was performed on our premises on Tuesday, February 4, 2003 by John.

Beyond the ordinary, our phone switching equipment servicing area is with
    many phone wire changes.

The Verizon installation of the incoming DSL line occurred at a distance of
some 50 feet from the phone switching equipment. John of Covad had to get
the line to the phone switching equipment and then from there to the office
area which is another 50 feet from the phone equipment room. He patiently
tested the wires and contorted himself in order to get into small access
    space behind office desks.

And all for just a mere personal note of thanks. Great work.

    Lewis D. Gudmundsen
