As a Director of a small firm, quick internet access was a priority. After having completed research on DSL versus Cable, I chose the prior. I was referred by a business friend to contact Intercom Online. In fact my friend had forwarded my info to that ISP. They diligently called and offered a fantastic rate. They set up all the appointments necessary and within a month my firm was up and running. Their tech support was promptly answered and their follow-up calls were reassuring. I was particularly impressed by their new business development team that even offered to take over my hosting needs. An offer I will accept once my current contract is up. I wholeheartedly recommend intercom online.

Actually this is my 5th line, a first from this company and I am very happy with their service. The first four lines were through two different "bigger" companies and they were an unpleasant experience. As a part timer consultant, working with the Intercom techs have been an absolute pleasure, that is, unlike the other companies I'm not holding on the phone literally for hours trying to reach a tech. Having them accessible is nice especially when I'm on site setting up a network for a client. And they all are very helpful and very knowledgeable people. Except for a minor hiccup with the phone company, the order/install went smooth. All in all a very good experience.

I contacted eight different DSL providers via e-mail and received only one response. It was from Intercom Online - I received a phone call - Zeeshan was able to answer all of my questions. The same day I received the quote and contract with everything detailed out. I had the opportunity to review it without any high pressured sales. I was a little concerned about dealing with a company on the opposite coast where service is at but with a little research on the web I was put at ease when I found absolutely no negative comments made.
I signed the contract on July 31st. The following day install called to let me know the schedule for install of both the telephone line and COVAD coming out for there portion. On August 22nd (might be a new record for the installation of DSL) all was installed. Our network person had the install date and was able to come out and configure our workstations. This all happened while I was on vacation and the office did not have to call me to verify or clarify any of the work that was ordered.
Technical support was called once while setting up the connections for all of the workstations and was found to friendly, helpful, and very knowledgeable about their jobs.
I am very confident that when the remodel of my home is done I will experience that same fantastic installation and continued connection.
Whenever anyone ask me about DSL I have only have one recommendation - Call Zeeshan at Intercom Online.
Sincerely,
B. Hall Controller DPS Plastering, Inc.

Installation took little time because of I live in Long island and old house. but installation was very smooth, after installation, line has not been went down. it's been running gerat since I installed the line on Jan. 2000. Tech support was very helpful setting up the connection even I use Japanese OS and linux. and their tech support was very kind and help me a lot of thing even though some of the things are not even supporting issues.

I personally support a few dozen client's DSL connectivity on an on-going basis. After 200+ SDSL and ADSL install's with companies such as Bell Atlantic, Verio, and many smaller ISP's backed by Covad, Rhythms, and North Point.. I decided to try Intercom Online. I've had prior good experience with this company in other areas, but thier old pricing policies for DSL had placed them outside of my clients allowable budgets for DSL service. Then, Intercom brought thier pricing down to a very competitive level, so I gave them a shot.
I must say I was very happy with the resulting service. There were a few well documented Bell Atlantic screw ups, but as I have had experience with prior DSL installs I had expected this.
I first tried out a 384k SDSL line for one of my clients. and once Bell Atlantic issues were settled, Covad and Intercom cooperated quite well. This resulted in a very swift install (16 days is swift for functional SDSL service in Times Square, NYC) and provisioning of service.
Again, I have been quite happy with Intercom's service, although I do wish they had 24hr phone support. The E-mail response time is excellent, and so is the uptime of thier DSL lines. I also use thier IP, E-mail services, Domain Registration, DNS, and other ISP related services.
Intercom's pricing has been getting MUCH better recently and while I still find them mid-range competitive with pricing, I have found the few extra $$'s a month is worth not having to miss days of work waiting for Bell Atlantic technicians to show up since Intercom keeps me updated and on top of BA's schedule and activities.
Just a few technical notes on the lines I have ordered. Most have utilized a Speedstream 5250 DSL Bridge. Speeds have ranged, and ALL have been Covad lines. I do not like my experiences with North Point. All have had Static IP's although intercom does provide a very easy NAT/DHCP setup for dynamic IP which I use until I assign the Static IP's. Ordering and managing Domains (Dot Coms) through Intercom's web interface on thier »www.myDSL.com site is very easy, and DNS setup and modifications have been swift with a simple e-mail of my needs to intercom's support group. As for uptime, I have a machines doing 100+ days without an interruption on Intercom's SDSL lines. An the promised speed is there. Remember, if you aren't getting the speed you THINK you should, make sure your OWN computers are correctly configured. DSL reports has a few hints on how to do this at »/tweaks
And, when the contracts with other providers are up, I will move my other clients over to Intercom Online's myDSL.com service. (Oh, and I use them at home too.. although kepe in mind they do not currently support home-based adsl for the consumer market.)
Thanks for reading. I believe the more you support a good service, the longer the good service will last.
Sincerely,
-RC Robbins Consulting Technical Director Cardiff Technologies, Inc. rc@cardifftech.com 212-840-9531

This is a follow up to my previous Intercom review. I received a call today from a woman at Intercom who apparently is higher up at the company, in response to a email I sent yesterday requesting cancellation of my service. She was very courteous and appologetic that both Bell Atlantic and Covad failed to show up for their appointments. I agreed that I would not cancel the service if we worked together to have the installation done without requiring me to miss another day of work (BA will use the code I provide to enter the building and Covad will come on a Sat.). So I am happy with Intercom's service. From what I've read on here, they clearly are more responsive to customer's than just about any other ISP. We'll see if this results in my having DSL service running properly in the not too distant future, but if I don't I'm sure it will be as a result of BA or (less likely) Covad and not Intercom.

I signed up with Intercom Online. I had signed up with BA and cancelled immediately after reading the reviews on this site (I'm still keeping my fingers crossed that they refund the modem they still sent me after I cancelled). Intercom offered guaranteed service, static IP, etc. which was appealling and for a price not too much more than BA. So I signed up. Bell Atlantic failed to show up for their install on Friday. Then Covad failed in show up for their install yesterday. I understand Intercom has limited control over this, what got me is that when I called to cancel the whole deal they said Covad showed up at 8:10 last night (they were scheduled from 3-7) and I wasn't there (I had gone out - shame on me) so I might have to pay the nonrefundable installation fee. ARE THEY CRAZY??? First of all, nothing was installed, second of all they showed up whenever they felt like it with no phone call or anything and expect that I'll be sitting there (would they have employed this logic showing up at 4 a.m.??). Then the girl I'm speaking with reminds me I have a one year contract, which I promptly remind her that Intercom is in breach of. She says that the installs are not guaranteed, per the contract. I'm an attorney and I can tell you that representations made following the integration of the contract become part of the contract. When she called and gave me my install dates and times, such representations were made. This is where my anger comes in. Rather than appologize for me missing two days at the office and offer a quick refund, and possibly some compensation for my trouble, they start playing these games. So I've faxed a cancellation notice to the billing department and we'll see how they handle it. Clearly DSL is simply not ready for mass sale yet, all the reports on here are clear evidence of that. The real shame is that these ISPs think that they are conducting business in an acceptable manner.

Installed 384 SDSL last month. BA tech. visited 3times untill to pass the loop test. Pre sales and installation notice from Covad and Intercom were smooth.
1. Support is not 24x7. Even day time, it is hard to catch support. Only one support seems knowing detailed issues. Not helpful support. 2. Bandwidth(speed) is far from expected. Even early mornig or week end, speed fluctuate between 180k to 300K. Never see more than 320K. 3. FTP local test (Between my site to Intercom site) resulted 380K. 4. Intercom may have poor backborn or poor peering. Anyhow cost performance is not so good. 5. Speed performance is poor but connection never lost scince last month.

Intercom DSL service has surpassed all expectations. I had heard that the DSL installation process was a nightmare. Intercom made sure it was timely and the people at Intercom were very helpful and courteous. I had also heard that DSL is usually oversold so you don't get the bandwidth you pay for. My Intercom DSL line gives me the full bandwidth all the time. I highly recommend Intercom for Businesss DSL.

After ordering DSL from Red Connect and then subsequently Bell Atlantic and both failing to deliver the service I was very surprised that Intercom installed my DSL service much earlier than they had promised.
The speed of the line is ceaselessly full speed and your technical support people are friendly, knowledgeable and very accessible.
In additional the connection and monthly charges are below anything I have been able to find elsewhere.
Great job Intercom!
