I found MegaPath through DSLReports, and they've definitely lived up to my high expectations... I live fairly far from any central office, so I can only get 144 SDSL service. Obviously, I'd like to be getting more speed for the monthly payment I'm making, but that's a minor complaint. The installation was smooth, easy, and well-orchestrated, in marked contrast to some of the horror stories I've heard from others. The connection has been as advertised and completely reliable. I appreciate that my connection is routed vs. bridged (so neighbors won't slow me down), and the Netopia router is well-designed and offers flexibility for upgrades next year. MegaPath's customer service and technical support have been nothing less than exceptional. They are highly responsive and clearly eager to keep their customers satisfied. I would recommend MegaPath without reservation to anyone considering DSL service.

I have been using cable modem services in the San Diego area for some time and been having problems including packet loss, performance issues, reliability problems and bad customer service. I began researching DSL providers and decided on Megapath. They offer SDSL which allows me to operate a game server on my DSL connection because the uplink speeds match the downlink speeds, something critical when hosting any application over the Internet. Compared to the cable modem, the SDSL from megapath generally provides ping times that are about 50% that of the cable modem and never any packet loss.

Where Megapath excels is its customer service. They answered all my questions and were very prompt and informative. On a rare occassion when the trunk providing my services from San Diego was cut, they immediately contacted me with details.

I highly recommend Megapath to anyone looking for high speed Internet access. I still maintain my cable modem as a backup, but DSL is so superior for gamers like myself, its no contest and services through Megapath are superb.

I tried for weeks to answers from Bell Atlantic on their DSL offerings. After spending hours on hold speaking to people that did not know what dsl was, I gave up. I searched DSL Reports and found MegaPath. I figured it could not be any worse that BA. This company knows how to treat customers and delivers what it said quicker that quoted time period. Orders and installed in less that 4 weeks!!! The Technical Support was Excellent!! The techs were knowledgeable and extremely helpfull. I would recommend MegaPath to any one. I will be refering all my customers to them. -Bob

(Note: I can't truly comment on reliability as I haven't had the connection long enough)

Absolute breeze of an install. My install time was a little over 2 weeks from initial contact to live 768kbit/second SDSL service.

Throughout the entire process, MegaPath was on the ball-- constantly sending me status updates as to what was up with Bell Atlantic and NorthPoint.

The only hiccup was that the NP installer didn't show in the morning-- but the situation was rectified by 6pm the same day and my line is up and running!

Throughout that particular hiccup, MegaPath was extremely responsive and completely on the ball in tracking down the NP engineer and rectifying the situation.

It could have easily turned into a several day to a week delay...

Two thumbs up.

Megapath called me on Sept. 20th and the sales pitch was very good. The sales rep. I had, Chyett, was on the ball with all my questions. They told me that Northpoint won't start processing the orders until the early October. That's not a problem. I got my wiring date and BA showed up on that date and a week later Northpoint came out and did my inside wiring. Ever since, the line has been kicking ass. I have 1.04 Mbps line, and I get speeds that are faster than that. Their tech support is wonderful. Jeff Rohrich was really cool and walk me through setting up my router. Other than that, most of the time the line is up. No problems....It's sweet.

This company had the most knowledgeable sales staff and set up our DSL system without a glitch in literally no time. We have 6 attorneys and 6 staff people on a NT system. Each of use was previously using modems and their own mail providers (AOL, Compuserve, Netcom). The Megapath people "walked" us through the set up one user at a time, with live, one on one help as we went through the steps. There have been no problems, "brownouts" or slowdowns, and everyone in the office is extremely happy.

Before selecting Megapath I personally contacted 4 other potential service providers (some of whom where advertising in our area -- Oakland, California -- but really weren't "up" yet.) The absolute worst was Pacific Bell -- you can never talk to the same person twice, and the sales people have minimal knowledge of the technical aspects of their product, and as for return calls, I'M STILL WAITING!

Megapath's pricing was not only competitive, but was the lowest, and they do not require a 1 year contract. They host our domain and we have had nothing but good feedback from our customers.

After waiting for over 5 months for Redconnect to get their act together and install an ADSL line in my home in New York City I decided to give up on them and try Megapath's 1.54 mbps SDSL service.

Upon contacting Megapath I was pleasantly surprised to find HONEST,knowledgeable sales representatives that knew their stuff!. I was told that installation would take about a month from the time I placed the order but in fact it only took only a little over 3 weeks for me to be up and running. The Bell Atlantic tech showed up on the date she was expected and my router arrived the next day, 2 days after that a Northpoint technician came over installed my router and I was ready to go.

The connection has been rock solid and Megapath's tech support is nothing short of amazing, the only time I experienced difficulties a tech called my house about 2 minutes after my connection went down to inform me that service would be restored within 5 minutes (they routinely check customers routers for any sign of trouble). Sure enough, five minutes later I was up and running again. I would like to thank Mr. Sean Crandall who helped me set up my connection and optimize it for best performance, over all I would have to say that Megapath is without doubt one of the very best services available and would recommend it to anyone without hesitation.

Megapath was not my first choice for DSL service. But, after talking to a friend who raves about them. I gave them a try. One thing's for sure. Of the many ISPs I've contacted, they were by far the most responsive to my presales questions as well as technical issues. It's amazing how many ISPs never call you back after leaving countless messages for presales information. I left a message with them on Sunday evening and got a call back the same night. Any company that has enough passion to return my call right away can have my money.

After being denied by other ISPs about getting routable IP addresses for my 4 servers. I thought that the Megapath would also reject my request. Instead, they gave me 5 routable IPs instantly.

The installation process was a breeze. The sales person said that it would take about 4 weeks to get up. Amazingly, it took only about 3 weeks. Anyone that has had experience ordering DSL will know why 3 weeks is really fast.

I ordered SDSL 784K. I looked into ADSL but went with SDSL because of my servers. ADSL downloads faster then uploads, but having servers. I upload more then download so the speed must be the same for stable performance.

So far, there support has been phenomenal. I needed zone file entries on their DNS server for my servers to work. I also needed domain name transfer from Internic. Their support took care of everything. It's funny how one ISP differs from another in both knowledge and skills. The connection is very reliable and those guys really monitor my line 24/7. I turned off my router for some computer re-arrangement and they called me within a few minutes to see if I was down.

Overall, there's nothing that I can complain about. If it's not Megapath DSL, it's a pinto.

Experiences with MegaPath DSL. I first heard of this ISP on the San Diego Roadrunner new group. At that it Roadrunner had numerous technical problems which lead me to look for an alternative source for high speed access to the Internet. Someone posted a good review so I thought I would give them a call and discuss some of my current difficulty with them.

If you are looking for the less expensive DSL deal around do not use them. MegaPath offers a business class SDSL connection to the Internet. But where they shine is with customer service. In my opinion this is what separates the mediocre ISP with the great ones. These people are very going. I spoke to marketing, pre-sales, sales, support, engineers they all have a great attitude for pleasing the customer. I do not consider myself very knowable but with books and their help I was able to setup my own domain, hosting my own DNS, mail, web, ftp services within 1 week of getting my line installed.

For me 1 hop then on to a tier 1 backbone provider called Exodus and AboveNet. Because this, latency is very low. For example best ping times when going to the same site with Roadrunner would be in the 120ms range and with MegaPath it is in the 60ms range.

I had some IP routing hop questions and with the help of support I was satisfied with the answer.
It took about 1 month to install from the start of the order to getting the line configured. PC-Bell was out in 3 weeks then NorthPoint sent me a router, then the cabling people came out.
Over all I am very happy with the service and would highly recommend this ISP.

Installation was fast and easy, coordination with Pac Bell was good (service was available before the promised date). Tech support has helped with several configuration issues, even helping after normal business hours. (u guys work too hard )

DDSL is kinda expensive, but only DSL available at my address, expect it to become more competitive over the next few years. Results great, speed consistantly tests at rated capacity, latency is great, DNS very reliable so far.
