I do not wish to sound like a commercial, but Megapath has been a wonderful provider for us. We recently negotiated a speed increase (to 1.5 Mb download, 348 upload) while reducing the monthly bill. Also, when our router (three years old) began to fail they pre-configured a replacement while their tech support walked a technical moron through the install process. We now have better service than ever at the lowest cost we've ever paid. I have learned that my fastest response comes when I contact my customer retention agent before I contact tech support. They know how to get things done over there.

I'm with Megapath now, and have been since June 2001. It's a long and windy road as to how I got to Megapath, but suffice it to say that I got DSL through my ISP, a2i Communications (www.rahul.net), back in December 2001, who subcontracted the job out to ICG Communications (www.icgcomm.com), who later got out of the DSL business, at which time a2i switch me over to Megapath.
The transition between ICG and Megapath was 12 days and went very smoothly.
My service is SDSL 384k, using a FlowPoint 2200 SDSL Router/modem. Over the years I've consistently gotten pretty much the full 384k speed, up and down. The connection has been very stable. In the 4 years since I was switched, the line has only been down 4 times (3 of which were on their side and 1 was equipment failure on myside) . Of the three, the line was back up in about an hour or so. The equipment failure took about a week to correct, but only because I ordered the wrong replacement equipment. The few occasions I've had to talk with their technicians I've found them to be very competent and helpful.
The month cost is high because I'm paying for DSL via Megapath plus the DSL account package at a2i. It's questionable weither dropping a2i and going directly with Megapath for all services would have been dramatically less in cost. On the whole me experience with Megapath has been favorable. However, I feel I'm paying a bit too much for what I use and am searching for a faster service with a better price..

I have IDSL service with a static IP. My installation went rather smoothly - the extra week to get it up and running was due to the complex wiring inside my house and the Ameritech central office. My order was placed 01-10-02. Ron from MegaPath said it should take about 3 weeks. On 01-16-02, Ameritech came out to pull wires. On 01-24-02, COVAD came out to connect the inside wires. I have existing wiring for a total of 4 lines and have been using only 2 - so the wiring was connected to the existing lines. Ameritech had switched my 2 lines at the CO - so it took an extra week to resolve that. I was up and running on 01-31-02.
I had to buy a router from Netopia (still waiting, though, for the rebates promised - 6-8 weeks).
I have not had to call MegaPath for any technical issues since I have been up. I can only get IDSL service (due to my distance from the CO). The speed is about 90% of the maximum expected (132 vs. 144). Since I only had a regular dial-up line before (avg connection speed ~40), this is about 3 times as fast. It's not lightning speed - but it's all relative. The price is $100/month.
September 2005: I have moved out-of-state and cannot keep this service. I requested on July 25 to have my account cancelled at the beginning of August. I have the e-mail that says they received my request with my cancel date. They still billed me for the month of August. I called customer service and they said they will be refunding me my money back to the cancellation date - but would not say when it will be cancelled. . I sent an e-mail last week stating they did not have my approval to bill for Sept and I will be contesting the August charges. They have not responded to my e-mail. E-mails are still arriving at my old address. Any ideas on what is going on with them? I would have to say I think something isn't right here...

I have been a customer of Megapath for more than 5 years, came over from Phoenix DSL when they were bought out. Most recently had their ADSL 1.5M/384K with 5 IP service for $80/month. Price is much higher than other providers but I need a reliable connection for work. That service was solid, though they had to reduce me to 900K download in order to provide a reliable connection.
In April I was informed that I was eligible for their Dedicated ADSL service with guaranteed 3.0M/384K for $35/month more and a 2 year commit. I purchased this service from them and the install and connection was solid at about 2.6M/384K over the subsequent 2-3 months.
Started having connectivity problems 2 weeks ago but it wasn't happening too frequently so I let it go. Saturday 7/30 connection was bouncing every 5 minutes over several hours, called Megapath to open a ticket. Technician noted the bounces and ran a test, said the next step was to dispatch Covad. No word from Megapath until 8/02 when I received a blanket e-mail "We are moinitoring your connection if you still have problems let us know." Sent a response to inform them I was still having problems, no reply.
8/3 I called Megapath from home to report problem was getting worse, now bouncing every 20-30 seconds. Technician informed me that their ticketing system was down and I would need to call in the morning.
8/4 Called Megapath from work since I could not work remotely, techinician said I needed to be at the site to remove the phone line from the router so they could test, I said I am at work and this should have been done on 7/30 or 8/3 when I was at home and on the phone with them. Tech said they could not dispatch Covad until test was complete, I asked to speak to a supervisor, tech replied there was no supervisor available and he would have one call me back, I asked for Supervisor's phone number;
Tech "I don't have it."
Me "You don't have it or you won't give it out?"
Tech "I can't give it out."
Guess $115/mth for a service I can get for $50/mth doesn't come with contact information.
Supervisor did call back within 20 minutes, I relayed all the issues I was having and my frustration. He said he would dispatch Covad between 12-4PM tomorrow and I would need to be there.
Connection has bounced 350+ times and counting since I originally opened this case. 5 days of this issue at Business Class ADSL prices of $115 is unacceptable
We will see how much longer this goes on... Really disappointed in Megapath, they used to be the best at resolving issues, not sure what has changed there but they are about to lose a customer.
Turns out after my call they put my line in 'safe mode' and it was working fine from that point on. This could have been done much sooner and saved Covad a trip... but its working after 5 days.
I was told by the pre-sales guy at Megapath that a dedicated DSL would enable me to attain 3M/384K where the old phone line could not. I paid the additional charge to get that service because of that statement. According to the Covad tech that is not true it is actually better to have your DSL on your phone line since it is always receiving a signal and tends to keep the line cleaner. In any event I no longer get the 2.7M/384K I was getting, now that I am in safe mode for stability I get 2M/384K, not bad but also not what I was guaranteed.

We were calling about a technical issue and they let us know that we could upgrade to a newer plan offering faster speeds for less money. I appreciate that. They actually intelligently answer questions - even ones asked by email. We monitor the line 24/7, and have only seen a few short outages (around an hour) in around a year. Our package: $70+Taxes and fees=$81 for 6Mbps/608kbps, $269 to start. As many static IPs as we can justify (special offer from our sales guy.) Sorry, I forgot some initial order details.

I ordered dsl from these guys about 3 years ago. Everything was easy and they were stable. Early march I told them I was moving 2 blocks away from where i lived now and they told me all would be fine and DSL would be installed at the new address. So I move a month later on April 1st. I called in to see how the move was going. Well there was no order placed and no one seemed to know what I was talking about. So I said fine move it now. They said we have to cance the existing order then place a new one. So they cancelled my old DSL and this placed a hold on my phone number. I called back a few days later to see what was happening and still no order was placed on my line. Then they tell me that they cannot order DSL on my line because the old DSL line was still showing on my phone number. More days go by and more lies from the company are thrown my way. Finally the sales person Jim tells me I am too far away to get DSL and that's that. Well I called Sonic.net and Raw Bandwidth. Both of them say I am around 2000 feet away and I qualify for any package available. So if anyone here is considering megapath I would reconsider. They lie and they do not care about their customers. I asked SBC about moving DSL lines and they told me that they should have just done a move order on the DSL line. They did not need to cancel anything. All they had to do was ask SBC to move the DSL line with the phone line move. So now because of their ineptitude I am without connectivity, not to mention my wife's income is based on that connectivity. So the screw lives on.
THANKS MEGAPATH!!!!!! THANKS ALOT!!!!!!!!

Order/install/support is exceptional -- you talk to someone who actually *knows* this stuff. Because of the relatively slow speed (versus cable & BellSouth), their great service/support, no port blocking, and stable network are the only reason I'm staying with them for now. Pity that they don't have a better setup with BellSouth so they could offer higher speed. Oh .. forgot to mention, 2-5 free static IPs (depending on your setup) -- and no PPPoE.
*** Update: dropped service 7/05 because 1500/256 speed wasn't competative with either BellSouth 3000/384 or Comcast 6000/784. Went with Comcast -- but that's another story (:).

Service was ordered on 10/08/2004 for a client. On 10/13/2004 we received an email from MegaPath saying that SBC would be out to install outside wireing on 10/19/2004. The SDSL line was activated on 10/28/2004. We ordered 1.0MB but for now all we have is 348k.
12/18/2004 The service is performing without any problems. 12/26/2004 The service was canceled by the client, the office was closed.

This company is the worst of the 5 different companies that I have been with. They told me that I had a SDSL, but could only get me up to 768. The 1.1 and 1.5 were not consistent.
When I had Covad come over and install a new SDSL they told me that I only had an ADSL for the last 18 months and that is why I could not get the high speed I wanted.
They misrepresented what I had and then charged me for that higher rate. On top of that when it had problems they blamed everyone but themselves.
