Moved from Berkeley to Emeryville, CA. Megapath was happy to start up overlapping service in my new location so I could move my servers very quickly. Everything worked beautifully with minimal downtime. My new rates (both download rate and price) are slightly lower now. The max of two broadbandreports.com speed tests at 16:00 Tuesday is 1097kbps (133.9KB/sec) download and 243 kbps (30KB/sec) upload. I pay $85/mo.

I started off being very excited because I thought I was going to be switching from a 384K SDSL connection with XO to a 2MB/384K ADSL connection with Megapath. I compared the XO pricing with the Megapath pricing for what I thought was the same service and it looked like it would be a little cheaper.
Little did I know, XO included IP address space (I need a .240) as well as all taxes & surcharges in their basic monthly rate. Megapath CHARGES for IP addresses beyond their basic allocation, and they DO NOT include taxes and surcharges in the quoted rates. In the end, my pricing for the same service (but going to ADSL with a higher download speed) cost more than I was paying XO. I was suprised to see my first bill was $6 higher than my XO connection.
The sales person NEVER explained any of the additional pricing to me, and my quote never had anything indicating there were optional services. The installation fees were supposed to have a Covad rebate, which I could never get due to some clerical Megapath error.
They also make unauthorized charges on your credit card - be careful not to give it to them. They charged me for a month of service before I gave them permission to literally minutes after I gave them my number to pay for an invoice.

9/24/03 Changed Locations (Update)
Moved from N. Richland Hills, Tx to Grapevine, Tx, (15 miles or so) submitted my request to change phone lines to Megapath provisioning 9/5/03, Verison setup my phone line on the 18th.
Last night (9/23), I moved my equipment to the new location, plugged in the router and had sync. (cool) I called Megapath tech support and they transferred my IP's to the new location, and it all worked flawlessly.
I have to say that through my dealings with business DSL with the likes of Cais (dead and gone), Network Access Solutions (another company I had good service from), AT&T Broadband, Charter Pipeline (they suck out loud) and Megapath, Megapath has proven to be the best provider, more expensive, but worth it.
4/8/03 2-Months Of Service Update
Two months uptime now, smooth sailing until 4/8/03 when my connection went completely down. I called Megapath tech support, they thought the problem was in the phone line, they contacted SW Bell. The telephone co. tech came out and found some kind of resistors (2) that were bad. By the morning of 4/10/03 I was back up 100%. Good service from both Megapath and Southwestern Bell. When I got handed off to the phone company I though the pissing match was on and I was screwed. It appeared to me that the phone company, around here at least, is on the ball. I'm a very satisfied customer so far.

I can't get Road Runner for another couple of months, and if my experience with Megapath stays good I don't want RR. If it isn't broke, don't fix it to save a few bucks. You get what you pay for... usually.
9-8-2003 I used MegaPath for over a year and a half. When I moved (very recently) to another city I decided to try Cox Cable due to price difference. After a week with Cox it looks good, but if I start having problems I'll go back to MegaPath in a heartbeat.
MegaPath's service was just outstanding for me. Very good speeds considering my distance from the CO and, as far as I know, the service was NEVER down.

I have dealt with all the horrors of working with ISPs like DSL.net, Ameritech, SBC PacBell, SBC SWBell, Qwest and BellSouth. The company I work for has locations scattered across the country. Each time I have difficulties with an ISP at one of our location, I switch that location to MegaPath. The sales and support staff of MegaPath are truly professionals. Any time I need technical assistance they are available. The quality of their service and technical support is superb. Occasionally a service disruption will occur that is area wide. I contact MegaPath and they work to get it resolved. They never tell me that "its not our equipment, so we can't help you". They do whatever it takes to provide excellent customer service. I recently had opportunity to switch one of our locations to them that required expedited service. I had a deadline to meet because of impending loss of service with Qwest. They jumped through hoops for me and exceeded my expectations of service delivery. Some of the other providers may be "ok" for home users, but they are unable to meet the needs of a business. I highly recommend MegaPath to anyone. Their service and reliability is so high that I switched from BellSouth at home to MegaPath. I went from having to try multiple times to connect to the Internet to never having a problem. If you're tired of lousy service, poor connectivity and poor service, give MegaPath a try.
If you'll notice, MegaPath is one of the providers of the speed tests available at »www.dslreports.com. I think that says a lot.

Very short review.
9/4/02 Ordered "Main Office" package with 192 SDSL with Netopio 7200 router. Very professional sales staff.
9/25/02 Covad came in and completed internal wiring on time, tested connection. I came in that evening, connected the router to our LAN, released/renewed DHCP on all NICs. Everything up and running. All I had to do was open and map a couple of ports, very easy to do with the 7200 router.
All I have left to do is switch our Domain name from being hosted at Qwest to Megapath and setup email/web. Will review that process.
10/5/02 Smooth ride, only hitch thus far is migrating our domain name. Go figure, the only part Qwest had to be a part of and they are screwing it up.
8/9/03 Been about 1 year of great performance. As of yet no downtime during customers working hours.

Ordered 1.1 Mbit biz line 3 days before Northpoint turned off their network (very lucky for us!) and 8 days later we were lit up and surfing again. We are getting our full bandwidth that we ordered, with very few hiccups (occasional 2-4 minute loss of DNS recently). Covad lit us up quickly and even Ameritech (Akron) cooperated and showed for their install date when promised. Scary but true.
Tech support is helpful, once you get through. You can't hold it against them at the time, as 100,000 Northpoint customers were scrambling for a line.
The Netopia router is decent, and we were able to use our old netopia for a phat rebate.

After 3 months of service I remain completely satisfied with Megapath. I am getting consistent download/upload speeds with very few and very brief network downtime.
Megapath has been on top of their game ever since I placed my order. I received a prompt confirmation phone call almost immediately after placing my order online then several e-mails detailing what to expect and when to expect it. Everything followed the timeline perfectly even though there were some problems with Ameritech. The installer from Covad was very efficient and arrived when he said he would. It was a painless install and he had me up and running in less than half an hour.
I had to opt for IDSL service (Netopia router, static IP) since nothing else was available in my area and I simply couldn't wait any longer. Yes, $99 a month is very expensive for home internet service but for me it is well worth it and Megapath is the Cadilliac of ISP's. Believe me, I should know, I've had half a dozen dial up ISP's.
So far I am very happy with the service. I'm getting the speed I am paying for and 100% reliability.

UPDATE
It has been at least 6 months now, and I am still very happy with MegaPath/Covad. The SDSL line has never been down, that I am aware of. The service is costly, but is much better than the old dial up line.
I have found out that the fiber optic cable, that prevents an ADSL connection, terminates in an underground vault about 100 feet from my location. Hopefully, if Ameritech/SBC decide to roll out high speed fiber connections, I will be able to obtain service quickly.
END UPDATE
It has been just a couple of weeks, but so far I am very impressed with MegaPath. I ordered a business account 192 SDSL line. Ameritech managed to get the line installed 3 days ahead of schedule, and the Covad tech was scheduled to complete the install on the original line installation date.
Well, the Covad tech called a day early and said "I'm in the area, if you have the time today, instead of tomorrow...", and stopped by about a half hour later to complete the RJ45 jack installation, set up the router, etc. The tech was very professional and responsive to any questions, tested the line with a laptop, and left the NIC settings that I would need to input to connect with the router. Shortly after the Covad tech departed, MegaPath provisioning called to say that they noticed that the line was up and wanted to know if I had any questions. There were no questions at that point since I was too busy just playing with the new setup.
The support so far has been very good. They seem to prefer e-mail or use of their customer care web location. Both a stupid (on my part) support question, and a minor billing error were quickly addressed and responded to. The customer care location on their web site contains answers, I think, to the most common questions, and the ability to ask your own. The three times that I have called them on the toll free POTs line, the calls were returned in 5 to 15 minutes.
The business accounts are more expensive that residential, and MegaPath seems to concentrate on providing decent business service (e.g. static IP's, web hosting space, 10MB of e-mail storage per account, DNS hosting, up to 50 mail boxes, etc.) I am in a location that due to distance and some fiber optic telco cable, can not get an ADSL connection. CableTV, and wireless are also not an option. Hopefully, in the future, ADSL will become available since I would prefer it, but for now SDSL is better than dial up.
So far there has been no loss of sync, the line speed is good, no packet loss, and decent pings. This is probably more a function of Ameritech/Covad than MegaPath, however. I may well upgrade to their 384 SDSL option in the future.
Some time when you are having trouble sleeping, you can always read the 400+ page PDF Efficient Networks router documentation file.
I'm a happy camper!
