Megapath was not my first choice for DSL service. But, after talking to a friend who raves about them. I gave them a try. One thing's for sure. Of the many ISPs I've contacted, they were by far the most responsive to my presales questions as well as technical issues. It's amazing how many ISPs never call you back after leaving countless messages for presales information. I left a message with them on Sunday evening and got a call back the same night. Any company that has enough passion to return my call right away can have my money.

After being denied by other ISPs about getting routable IP addresses for my 4 servers. I thought that the Megapath would also reject my request. Instead, they gave me 5 routable IPs instantly.

The installation process was a breeze. The sales person said that it would take about 4 weeks to get up. Amazingly, it took only about 3 weeks. Anyone that has had experience ordering DSL will know why 3 weeks is really fast.

I ordered SDSL 784K. I looked into ADSL but went with SDSL because of my servers. ADSL downloads faster then uploads, but having servers. I upload more then download so the speed must be the same for stable performance.

So far, there support has been phenomenal. I needed zone file entries on their DNS server for my servers to work. I also needed domain name transfer from Internic. Their support took care of everything. It's funny how one ISP differs from another in both knowledge and skills. The connection is very reliable and those guys really monitor my line 24/7. I turned off my router for some computer re-arrangement and they called me within a few minutes to see if I was down.

Overall, there's nothing that I can complain about. If it's not Megapath DSL, it's a pinto.

Experiences with MegaPath DSL. I first heard of this ISP on the San Diego Roadrunner new group. At that it Roadrunner had numerous technical problems which lead me to look for an alternative source for high speed access to the Internet. Someone posted a good review so I thought I would give them a call and discuss some of my current difficulty with them.

If you are looking for the less expensive DSL deal around do not use them. MegaPath offers a business class SDSL connection to the Internet. But where they shine is with customer service. In my opinion this is what separates the mediocre ISP with the great ones. These people are very going. I spoke to marketing, pre-sales, sales, support, engineers they all have a great attitude for pleasing the customer. I do not consider myself very knowable but with books and their help I was able to setup my own domain, hosting my own DNS, mail, web, ftp services within 1 week of getting my line installed.

For me 1 hop then on to a tier 1 backbone provider called Exodus and AboveNet. Because this, latency is very low. For example best ping times when going to the same site with Roadrunner would be in the 120ms range and with MegaPath it is in the 60ms range.

I had some IP routing hop questions and with the help of support I was satisfied with the answer.
It took about 1 month to install from the start of the order to getting the line configured. PC-Bell was out in 3 weeks then NorthPoint sent me a router, then the cabling people came out.
Over all I am very happy with the service and would highly recommend this ISP.

Installation was fast and easy, coordination with Pac Bell was good (service was available before the promised date). Tech support has helped with several configuration issues, even helping after normal business hours. (u guys work too hard )

DDSL is kinda expensive, but only DSL available at my address, expect it to become more competitive over the next few years. Results great, speed consistantly tests at rated capacity, latency is great, DNS very reliable so far.

I switched over to Megapath from Flashcom for DSL. Megapath has excellent customer service and fast responsive tech support. The only thing I wish they support is Microsoft Frontpage Extensions on their Web Servers. Feel free to e-mail me for further information or comments on Megapath: yungi@lansol.com

Megapath is a great choice. I ordered 416k sdsl service with some static addresses and am very pleased with the installation and support. Their paperless approach for residential customers took some considering and the three week lead before pac bell could tie the line for Northpoint added to the apprehension, but their scheduling worked out perfectly.

The Northpoint tech had the line and router up with no glitches. With that done, Megapath tech support handled the rest of the install with me. They checked the router and line before turning it over to me. My mail account was ready and an email to tech support the next day for dns entries was promptly addressed. It's been over a month and I've had no interruptions in service or delays. In all, it's been a very positive and worthwhile choice.

We upgraded to SDSL 160Kbps from 2B ISDN 128Kbps for two reasons. First was to obtain more reliable internet connections, and second was to avoid expensive ISDN toll charges. We will save about $250 per month, and now have 24/7, 160Kbps, instead of on demand, 128Kbps. A good deal either way you look at it. Unfortunately we were too far from the central location to get 200Kbps. The phone installer said we were too far for SDSL all together, and that we had to go with 144Kbps IDSL, but Megapath disagreed, and were correct. We were able to connect at 160Kbps, and use SDSL.

Hardware installation was pretty straight forward, and took less than 5 minutes. Configuration was all done by the Megapath technicians online.

We are very pleased with Megapaths service, and technical expertise and would recommend them to anyone looking to add DSL service.

I have looked at many DSL ISPs and have found many of them to be dishonest and lack customer assistance. However, once I spoked with the people at Megapath. My search for finding great service and honesty ended. The install process for my personal 144K went smooth except for a missed outside wiring date by Pacbell. To my amazement. Unlike many other ISPs, Megapath had no problems setting me up with 8 "Real" ip addresses. They stated that I could have as many as needed. It seems that my search for great services has finally ended once I check their network status page and called their technical support. The network status page is actually up to date and displays proper information. Unlike many other ISPs that I have dealt with. Calling their technical support was no hassle. They picked up the line within 1-2 rings and knew all the answers to my questions. Megapath is defintely worth the money.

I ordered DSL service from MegaPath in late June 1999 and have been up and running now for approx 2 weeks. These guys were very helpful during the process (there was some unexpected delay because of PacBell) -- they called and were on top of it. And DSL is damn fast! So far, this has been great.
