Update to previous review:
I do not know what you people are talking about pre-paying for service. One thing I learned in life never prepay for any service especially one where the field is as jammed with competition as DSL providers. DSL providers are a dime a dozen. I learned my lesson about reviewing DSL providers before signing up but I am out a lot less than most. A tip to all : When going with a DSL provider YOU tell them the terms of the contract. If they want your business they will agree, If not go to the next one on the list.
I am going to Stargate, A local provider I have heard good things about.
Peace, Out.
It all started at the end of July when I was looking for a GOOD DSL provider. What I found instead was PSN. They are anything but good. First I talked to one of their reps named Corey who was real nice and helpful through the sale, but after the sale I can't get ahold of him for the life of me. He told me that I would have 416/416 SDSL but in actuality I have like 320/392 or something like that. He also told me that I would get a rebate. I am still waiting for the rebate check to this date. The worst part is still yet to come... About 3 weeks ago my DSL service went out. I waited 2 days giving PSN the benefit of the doubt knowing that there could be a wide variety of problems. I then called their tech support line and amazingly got someone in under an hour. We did basic troubleshooting and could not locate the source of the problem so she opened a trouble ticket. Four days later I received a call on my cell phone from a PSN tech support rep. I was at work however and we could not do "further troubleshooting" as he put it. He asked for what times I would be home and I told him. Never heard anything from PSN since that day. After numerous calls to their tech support and hours of listening to Jazz which no offense but I hate I finally get through to someone. She tells me my ticket has been transferred to NorthPoint and there was nothing she could do about it. I told her to get her second level on the phone then because my service has been down for some time. She put me on hold and went and talked to her "second tier" support. She came back on the phone and told me that he could not call Northpoint right now because he is too busy! Imagine that too busy for a customer that has been down 3 weeks. It turns out they just don't care. My girlfriend went downstarirs to do laundry yesterday and noticed someone had left the phone room door in our apt building open so I went down to have a look. Myself knowing a bit about wiring and phone lines unplugged the wire from the connector and reseeded it. Came back upstairs and dream a little dream it worked!!! All of this could have been solved a long time ago had they just sent out a tech but as I stated before they just don't care! I too will never order DSL again before researching the company on DSLReports.

Like everyone else who had residential DSL from PSN, I've been suckered. Any reputable company who was merely having financial difficulties would at least notify customers before cutting off service. Also, any reputable company would promptly send a refund check or credit card credit. From the time I signed up for this service until now, they have never, ever contacted me in any way. It has always been me who had to initiate communication (about a three month delay in service, and then, about sudden service disconnection on December 4). They even lied to me when I finally got through to customer service, saying yes, Northpoint was still their CLEC, although I'd already called Northpoint and learned they were not providing PSN service anymore. They also said service would be resumed "soon." It is now December 20, 16 days later...no service.
I did sign up for the Telocity/Northpoint "savemydsl" service, which hopefully will get me DSL again. However, no word on if or when I'll get a refund of the eight months of service fees PSN owes me.
Check this out: »www.phoenix.bbb.org/report.html?···86000913
It's the Phoenix Better Business Bureau's report on PSN. Too bad we all didn't know about this before we dealt with these low-lifes.

Do NOT use this ISP. They have been sued by the Arizona Attorney General. their news server has not worked for over a month now. Tech support is non-existent, customer service won't answer their phone. When my DSL line was out in Oct I had to beg NorthPoint to fix it since I could not get anyone at PSN. Then last week my DSL went dead and there is no fixing it... PSN has bailed. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY even tough they still maintain their web sites and advertise service.
I had been promised 768/384K but got a weird 416/416K although I'm only about 400 yards from the switch

All you PSN.NET users are in for a shock just as I was. Apparently PSN.NET (from what they told me) could not handle the traffic in the Pittsburgh area and just turned off the service. They said that they emailed all customers about the change but (get this) YOU TURNED OFF MY SERVICE so how the hell am I supposed to get email? I checked my home email from work and there was nothing. They also said that they sold their customers to Telocity who is $10 more per month. They only good thing is that now I've got a good DSL bridge.

I have told you my PSN horror Story. If you have one, please post it here and let's discuss.
In my opinion, if you have money owed to you by PSN, I hate to say this, but I doubt you will get your money back. One they file for bankrupcy, they are protected from you guys. A lawsuit will probably do you know good as it will take years and the lawyers will take 75% of the money.
As far as the owners go, since they are a corporation, they are protected. Nothing can stop those suckers from screwing this company up, leaving with the money, then starting another bogus ISP.

Listen folks,
I've been reading all the comments about filing class action lawsuits against PSN. I'm out about $650 ($250 refund which I never received and the $400 in prepaid service which I will never receive). While I want my money back desperately, I'm realistic about it . . .
YOU CAN'T GET GRAPE JUICE OUT OF A RAISIN. PSN is dead. A company without money can't pay squat. Hire your lawyer -- hell I may do it myself -- but don't expect to get much. As a matter of fact, I just today received a check for a whopping 37 CENTS for a class-action suit against Providian. Oh, and I got $3.60 when Sprint Spectrum screwed its original users and switched to Sprint PCS.
We all got suckered. Sorry, but it's the sad truth.
Happy Holidays :-(

Regarding PSNnet and NorthPoint:
The speech PSN is giving is that they are terminating their residential service relationship with NorthPoint.
Just talked to Customer Service who says that NorthPoint will deal with money owed in January. (NorthPoint is saying they won't pay). Let's hope that NorthPoint is still in business/not owned by someone else who won't acknowledge this.
Switched to Telocity through PSN net rep. So far Telocity does have my order. She guaranteed that my service would continue uninterrupted until I received my router at which time I would just install it and life would be just fine. Of course she also said NorthPoint would honor payments. We shall see.
I have filed a complaint with the Phoenix BBB and am considering a class action suit. Is anyone else interested?

As you can tell i am not happy at all with PSN. they took about 4 months too get me hooked up. Service was fast for about 2 months then i started having problems, i got a tech guy and this is what he emailed me back "Ok I just got news on the problem. We are having problems with the new York area now. If you been reading dsl situation in San Jose this is the similar situation. Too many people not enough dedicated bandwidth. The network engineers made a request to purchase new lines but it will take some time. My management told me 2 weeks. Sorry for the inconvenience."
Dominic
well its 3 months later and my speeds are still very inconsistent, good in the mornining and slow as a toyota at night.
today is 12/14 and i read the deport on this site about Northpoint cutting them off. I called Northpoint to see if this was true and she told me YES. She said that PSN had not notified its customers so they sent out an email saying that telocity would be taking the lines and that ALL PSN DSL service would be turned off by as fast as tomarrow and as late as the end of the month, she heard both so she was unsure.
right now im on hold with PSN billing to try and get my money back for the months i didnt use. this is the last time i ever pay for a service up front.
I will never never never never get a new DSL or CABLE provider with out checking this site before buying again.
I guess Shame On Me

Ding Dong PSN is Dead!!! Yahoo!!!
Well, I'm happy. I got a new provider, and my money back from the credit card company and.... PSN died. I'm just hoping that the owners go to jail or something.
Best of luck to all of you.

We've had PSN since June 2000 or so and everything had been working fine (getting transfer speeds of 800+K/400K) until just recently. Now of course PSN has essentially gone belly-up and our DSL service is no longer working. Like many others, we received very poor customer service including the explanation at the end that the DSL outage was due to a "network upgrade". Like other PSN customers, we also received the Telocity "Save Your DSL" email even though Telocity's own web site indicates that they do not provide service to our address.
We paid for 1 year of PSN's service ($40/month) and got about 6 months worth of service out of it. We are one of the lucky ones: we received -- and cashed! -- the rebate check which covered the modem & installation, so really we are only out about 6 months worth of service ($240). I had recommended PSN to a friend who is still waiting for his connection. I guess he'll never want my advice again!
The worst part of this, besides the money, is relying upon PSN as our ISP means that we now need to tell all of our email contacts to yet again change their address book entries for us once we choose our next ISP. How embarrassing!
