I had Inficad for a couple years, than they got bought out and all their staff left. They were pretty good, but I am very happy to have Deru now.

Inficad ROCKS! For $17.95 a month I get 256k service. Unfortunately I have to go through Qworst,oops... i mean Qwest for the circut, that costs me an additional $20 a month. I have been with Inficad for about 3 years now and have never had a problem with them. The only problems I have had were with my phone lines and Qworst. I get 5 email addresses and 50mb of webspace as well as a static IP address. Everytime I have called in with questions, the customer support staff have always been very friendly and helpful. I have nothing bad to say about Inficad. In fact, I whole heartedly recommend them, call them 602-265-4423 and tell them that plastictree sent you! If you recommend someone, they give you 1/3 of a month for free!
did I say that INFICAD ROCKS!!!

Pricing:
Currently have 256k DSL combo Inficad & USWest. 25$/mo to inficad, 30$/mo to USWest for the circuit, then 13$/mo for voice service on the dsl-line (required by USWest). Totals to just under 70$/mo for 256k/256k dsl.
Many of Inficad's problems aren't truly their fault. The USWest megabits dsl system in general has got problems. Big problems. I would encourage Inficad to ditch USWorst in favor of one of the CLECs who seem to have a better service record (not good, just better). Maybe the setup & support with USWest is a lot better if you choose USWest.net as your ISP, but I wanted to stick with Inficad who was my dialup ISP (& my brother's and sister's) for a year before we switched to DSL.
Pre Sales information: 4****
About as informative as they could be -- they have very little to do with the process of setting up a DSL circuit as it is all handled by USWest. Nonetheless, most of the people I've spoken with at Inficad were very knowledgeable and were able to answer all of my questions regarding their end of the service (256k residential DSL, 1 static IP, 5 email boxes, 30 megabytes of personal web space)
Installation coordination: 2**
A generous two stars. I would tend to think that, despite all the nightmare stories out there, the Covad/Northpoint way of working with ISPs is superior -- IE the customer calls the ISP, then ISP organizes everything from that point on as far as coordinating circuit installation and account activation. Instead, USWest and it's parternered ISPs have a very very distant relationship. Essentially, the customer must play the role of mediator between the two companies in trying to setup DSL service. *I* call USWest to set up the DSL circuit, *I* call inficad to let them know I'm setting up DSL, *I* call inficad the day the circuit gets installed... here I am willing to fork over 70$ a month for high speed internet access and it's like pulling teeth trying to get the ball rolling between the two companies. Loved the CISCO675 carepackage uswest just dropped off one day without warning -- even had to do the bridging configuration myself because the cisco is by default set in routing mode. Long story short, this service doesn't seem to be ready for home users/novices. It's a shame, because there's nothing inherently wrong with the technology, just the business end of it.
Connection reliability: 4****
About as reliable as a local ISP can get I suppose. Short outages now and again but nothing too severe. Every tracert I perform reveals alter.net as the backbone, so not a whole lot of routes heading out -- a couple of alter.net outages over these past few months have caused extended periods (up to 24hours) of downtime. But thats the internet i suppose.
Tech support: 3***
3 stars, because the system is inherently flawed. Inficad can do very very little in terms of diagnosis and technical assistance in case of a problem. They seem knowledgeable and are probably very capable of helping a novice user setup his tcp/ip settings and whatnot, but more serious problems with the CPE or the circuit they have no way of helping or diagnosing -- and they are quick to point that out. Get used to hearing them tell you "try calling USWest" whenever you have a problem that their level1 tech support can't solve.
Value for money: 2**
There are better options out there for highspeed access in Arizona. 70$ a month right now pays for a 256k/256k adsl line (but my distance from the CO actually gets me 192k, *sob*). @Home cableservice seems to offer more bang for the buck, despite all their capacity issues. Currently, I'm in the market for another DSL ISP (one that uses Covad networks for a change). 786/384 covad ADSL offers 3 times the speed and a better and more professional relationship with the customer and ISP. For the same price as the USWest/Inficad combo.
Notes regarding latency:
MS latency to gateway - 45ms.
Outrageously high for a gateway that is only located 10 miles from my house. Find it puzzling that an ISP which in several places bills itself as an excellent service for gamers would be so laggy. I end up pinging 50ms to a server which is on their network! And their weak alter.net routing (which seems to be leased by just about every isp in the valley) gives me an anemic connection to most of the popular west coast gaming servers of about 100+ms, with regular packetloss and ping spikes. Very poor for gaming.

I researched all ADSL providers in my area. There were only 3 real choices, the others had outrageous setup fees or out of date telco charges. PLUS I at the time I worked for one of the 3 ! The prices where almost identical. My now former employer lost. I choose based on benefits alone. 30 megs, 5 emails, game server, etc... I choose Inficad before ever talking to anyone, (i cannot comment on "pre-sales" or "install").

I have been with Inficad for 4 years as a dial up customer and have never had a problem. I have since upgraded to DSL @ 256k and I am thrilled that I could keep my e-mail address and the same level of service!!
