    -Update- 6/29/2009 -

Thanksf for the many years of service Britsys/DNS-LLC/Dock.net. I finally switched over to a cableco service so I could get more upload speeds. Still a limitation of DSL these days. But was always reliable, good price and good service. I'll be back when you can get me 1.5+ meg of upload.

    Thanks,

    -original message-
I was absorbed into the Dock.net service after my original ISP (Britsys) was bought out by them.

They seem to be a good company and have friendly staff. I worry sometimes that their staff is stretched a little thin as it can be difficult to reach them in off hours and even sometimes during the day. I've only had one outage and it was of no fault of their own. A truck coming down the street took out some of the phone lines. Getting it sorted out was another mess. The local TELCO and the CLEC couldn't seem to agree on where the trouble was after the line was fixed. I kept losing sync and the only remedy seemed to be resetting the port. After a week of this the problems just went away and have no idea what was fixed or if anything was actually done at all.

Beyond that I'm pleased with them and they do ultimately take care of things. I've ordered a second line for backup purposes from them and the process was painless. Now if they'll just take care of that open ticket I'll be set....

I was actually a customer of Netpipeline before it was bought by Docknet. It is a smallish company with a hometown kind of feel, which I like after dealing with Pac Hell or the Great Telephone Experiment.

As a consulant who has done a lot of DSL installs and is familiar with the technology, their tech support staff needs a little more training, however my understanding is that they have to become familiar with the Netpipeline equipment which is kind a unique.

The techs will definately work with you if you sound like you know what you're doing and are friendly to boot.

Since I've been on DSL since it was first offered (I was subscriber number two for Netpipeline) my insights into the install aren't valid anymore.

Speed and reliability is execellent though, the only time I've had an outage was out of the control of Docknet (GTE and co-location facility problems). As far as performance my 1.5 Mbps line moves data at a 24 average better than cable or any other provider in the Santa Barbara area.
